It’s not a Crowded House track. It’s by the Hunters And Collectors, written by Nick Seymour, brother of the Crowded House bassist Nick Seymour. Complicated but true!
I once owned a copy of the original Throw Your Arms single. It was beautifully recorded on 2 tracks; repeated the one, magificent verse & there was no running "along". Mark Seymour ran "up" your street. This was before Seymour was pressured into adding & changing lyrics & it's the best of several versions available. I haven't heard it in years. H&Cs made good money off the song, so good luck to them.
@BluntMag D'you know, I can't remember the details of the story. It was something like.. the label people loved the song but thought the "running up your street" line was too dirty for radio & told MS to write more verses. Now that you ask directly, I am not at all sure this ever happened. Perhaps I deluded the story from my connection to the original 7". I saw H&C play Throw... at the ANU Bar, 1982 & waited impatiently for it to come out. Bought it at the brilliant Impact Records. The repetition of the one verse emphasises the desperation of these people, the sound is immense. There are live renditions from this time. John Riley (a b-side- MS solo on acc gutar) & this 7" Throw... are the only 2 songs I've never found on Utyoub. Frustratingly, there is a 1986 version with the sleeve of the '82 single in the thumbnail. Thanks for the reply. I am feeling a bit sheepish about the veracity of the story now. I guess you'd have to search out articles on Human Frailty, circa 1986/7.
Kiwi band. More kiwis than Australians. They songs predominantly were about New Zealand or a dig at the USA (chocolate cake). Crowded House were formed out of splitenz when they broke up.
Australasian band - mix of NZers and Australians and Americans. All of the NZers lived in Australia, the UK and/or USA at some point and Australian Nick Seymour (brother of Mark Seymour who wrote this song) lives in Ireland now. Neil Finn has been quoted as saying Crowded House was an Australasian band.
When you pay to see a band it is disrespectful for them to bring up guests I went to big day out mainly to see pearl jam half the set was them bringing up lime Finn who I wouldn’t pay to see wouldn’t pay to see the again

Yeah the blurb got it wrong so good call out. The guys nailed it! Amazing to see 2 legends up on stage like that singing classic track
I think you meant to write Mark Seymour from H&C who is Nick’s brother
@@stratmad I knew I'd get it the wrong way around - written on my phone too quickly
They ripped off hunters & collectors
@@michaelperry-r7e It's a cover.
The album liner notes Vedder is talking about is the Classic True Colours from 1980.. Split Enz...
An amazing beautiful, romantic, ballad that has never been in the top ten anywhere since it was released.
Thanks so much for sharing ❤
Excellent rendition & great recording.
Thanks🙏
One of the best songs ever by one of Australia's most, in my opinion, underrated bands in Australia. America you don't know what you missed
Eddie, im sure you were also reading the back of Recurring Dream ❤🙏🏻
Not many people know that Neil is actually the long lost son of Australian cricket legend and commentator the late great Richie Benaud.
Love Neil Finn he’s so humble and talented cool combo would have loved to have heard a crowded house song with pearl jam
"Hunters and Collectors Song". its only written by Nick Seymour Crowded House bass guitarist
let the guys have some fun
Still both got it ✨
"we'll make it back much sooner" fuck yeah boys!!!!!
LET HIM PLAY!!!

What happened when he was pressured into changing the lyrics?

I always wonder if Ed let that kid play his guitar 🎉
Should have Mark Seymour play consider it was a hunters song
So....Crowded House is an Australian band....the song was was written by an Australian whose brother just happened to be a member of Crowded House.

Are they touring Australia?
They just finished the tour

Pity about the screaming chick wrecking the recording..And Neil ya numpty, sing one of your own lovely songs...even though I love that song of H & C
I stopped going to concerts for 2 reasons, rip off ticket prices and shouting rude and crap singing fans!
Gee, Eddy is sounding old isn't he!
In what way?
@BluntMag His speech and pronunciation.
Never
@@esmed779 Well yes, everyone gets old.
Don't ruin the music with politics Vedder.
What did he say?
that was really messy
If Neil is such a hero, why play a hunters and collectors song?
Because Eddie, despite being a legend himself, has no actual clue about anything outside of America
Because the song was written by the brother of the bass player in crowded house
seems like Neil will tout himself around,to any name band, going
Really? Pearl jam are just any big name band? Word is Eddie and Neil have been friends for years
