    Not personally ever knowing anyone who is a Yale PhD student or of that caliber, this channel is really cool b/c this is my first opportunity to see first hand how top tier students think/work in an in-depth, personal manner. Great idea for a unique channel. Thanks!

    The tip about putting items from the task list onto the calendar is so helpful. I've done that from time to time when I was feeling overwhelmed, and it helped a lot. I'll test out doing that more consistently and see how it goes.

    This makes me feel better because I keep trying to study in the morning and it never happens but I’m not a morning person but I am not a failure just because I don’t wake up early to study. It’s not a realistic expectation for me. I’ve worked evenings and overnights for years and my body isn’t going to abruptly change just because I want to. I can stay up studying and sleep in and that’s perfectly fine.

    I have never heard the tip of using a calendar instead of a to-do list but I think I'll start implementing it right away! I'm a working professional, but in the evenings I do volunteering and self-directed study, and sometimes I get overwhelmed by how big those personal projects are relative to the limited time I have to actually spend on them each day. I can tell already they're going to seem more manageable once they're broken out onto a calendar. The rest of the video was great as well. Thanks!

      In terms of keeping a calendar as opposed to a to-do list; do you map out your calendar at the start of each week or month (or both)? Just wondering if you find it easier to plan by week for short & long term tasks or by month.

    • @KaelynGraceApple

    Thank you for this video!! Those tips are wonderful, and the timing was perfect, as I am currently juggling an article, field research, a conference paper and a translation project at the same time 😅 I've turned off notifications for most services a while ago but really struggle to let go of my mail server (I typically let it run in the background, especially when I'm waiting for feedback...). Regarding the reading: Do you typically schedule reading by time (e.g. I will read for two hours) or by length of a chapter/book (e.g. I will read 200 pages)?

    How do you deal with the schedule your body "wants" vs working 9-5 where you have no options on working hours?
    I have this vicious cycle going bc I naturally have the most energy at night, can't sleep early or wake up early to save my life. But I have to wake up and be at work early no matter what...when I get home I have to jump straight into school work, dinner, cleaning, whatever but I'm a zombie bc I got no sleep and had to use so much brain power all day long. Idk what to do

    • @KaelynGraceApple
      @KaelynGraceApple 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When I worked 9-6 in my corporate job or 7-5 in my professional athletics career, I would come home, shower, take a power nap, and then eat dinner and study until 1-3am. I would then use Sundays which was my only real day off to recover and sleep. However, everyone is different so what worked for me might not work for you.
