I was at turtle creek casino market today and saw an unique plow. It was a box plow on a front end loader but it had cutting blades on the top. I saw him flip or what would be dump the bucket and he used it to back drag with a nice cutting edge and still a box plow that way so nothing went off the the side. Figured it would be something you might be interested in. I think it would make a nice comparison video if you knew some one running one. Awesome videos.

Excellent training video. The efficient use of the equipment has to be learned and you covered things the new comer hasn't needed to think about yet.
The only thing I would add is pushing your show banks back as far as you can, especially in the beginning of the season. You have the equipment capable of pushing your banks back, and when you are as far as you can go, push those banks as high as you can get them. You never know what the rest of the season is going to bring so plan for, and make room for, the worst case scenario.

1st rule I ever tell someone I am training is BE CAREFUL!!!! As you mentioned about people "hunting" for insurance claims, also is knowing your abilities as an operator. I have seen too many times that someone new gets in and trys to "hot shot" like someone more experienced and hits a car while back dragging. KNOW YOUR LIMITS AND TAKE YOUR TIME, especially around people, cars, amd buildings/lights.

I use to do the sidewalk shoveling, and what those guys should of done is shovel that snow in that open space on the lawn. I mean if there is a big open space and plenty of room pile it on. If the guys in the plow truck, loader or skidsteer gives you the ok to push the snow in front of them then I'll do it.
Also what I use to do is shovel the curbs or edges and help the plow guys out. I'm new to this channel and I agree everything you have shown here. I live in Maine and I've have seen about what you've shown in this video.

I do smaller commercial lots and private roads with my with my little Kubota B26. Just use my bucket and rear blade. What’s great about it is I can get on sidewalks and make one pass with the rear blade angled. While it’s small I can push with the bucket and blade going forward at the same time to move a nice amount of snow, I can push backwards with the rear blade too so ever second I am moving I am being productive 👍

Love the snow plowing videos! Used to do sidewalks on a college campus in Ohio and we used riding mowers with cabs and 50" snow blades. Eventually ended up in plow trucks doing commercial parking lots and apartment complexes. Never had the opportunity to use skid steers so very interesting to see the different techniques. We used a lot of ice melter / salt so would like to see how you handle that.

Stan that is my number 1 peeve about snow clearing by the city where I live the fire hydrants have on a typical winter between 3-5 foot tall drifts in front of the hydrants and they only shovel 3 feet around the hydrants and the snow piles at the end of the driveway openings are between 5-8 foot tall with dribbles from the wheel loaders opening the driveways up after being closed off and 10-15 foot wide talk about potential for a car crash from no visibility that is why I need one of those JCB teleskids they now make a 74 horsepower model

Ha ha, yeah i think that could be useful for many! Just this morning I saw a municipal employee clearing city sidewalks around the city government buildings with an ATV+plow. There was less than half dozen inches of new powder but lots of drifting in the wind. After losing sight of him for a good 10+ minutes I went around the corner and saw him stuck half way off the sidewalk/ curb with the left half of the plow buried into the street snow burm. Looked like he'd slid off the sidewalk at an odd angle and couldn't recover.

Stan... concerning side walks, do you try to have the side walk crew get done before parking lot crew? (Some side walks seem to have no where to put the snow, but into the parking lot.) Also, do you use any blowers or power brooms on side walks, or is it all shovel work?

how is the RT70 working for pushing snow compared to your wheeled skid loaders? I have an RC30 that I do a few small jobs with the bucket. I split a piece of pipe and mount it over the cutting edge to save wear on it. Used hard face welding rod to extend the life if the pipe. Saves a lot of sod and gravel by not digging in but will still scrape packed snow.

What is joog or juge? Is that anything like a jag- a small load? If you're on a snow plow job and you get out of the truck you need to have a shovel in your hand so you can continue to be productive by taking the extra step to tidy up and for additional stability. Like to see a video on sweeping snow and different salt products you've had experience with.

I grew up in Duluth, Minn. 1960's. My Dad's driveway was 70 yards long at least, only half paved and with a two car turnout. 7 kids, first 4 boys, I am the oldest. My Dad finally bought a snowblower after the oldest 3 sons had moved out. Before that we sholved by hand. I would try to beat my Dad home from work after a snowfall so I could do his driveway with his new snowblower. He would ask me why I was doing that, my reply, I just wanted to see what it was like with a snowblower.

Can't stand this, same thing with mowing. There is one specific spot I can think of where there is a 2 pass island between 2 lots, we do one side someone else does the other side. They always blow their grass onto our lot and leave it, so tempting to just open the chute, full rpm and just blast their lot. That just wouldn't be a good look.
