⚠️ (SPOILER WARNING) ⚠️ Hope Matpat can see this! I’m honestly surprised that he didn’t go into the biggest plot hole, that the dreamstone is still out there, but I guess he didn’t want to spoil the end of the movie. 😂 When Max Lord reversed his wish to fuse with the stone, it must have reappeared in his office right?? Meaning this whole thing could start all over again with some other crazy person. That’s how Wonder Woman really failed the world, she didn’t even fix what was the main threat of the movie. 🤣
Honestly, it's debatable as to whether that's actually what happened. We never see the stone again and the world doesn't just revert back to the way things were before all the wishes had been made. It continues to go on with the effects of the stone still having an overall part that was played on/in the world. If things continue to go on with the stones effects remaining tangible (the wall and nukes needing to literally destroy themselves rather than just fading into nothingness) then it's potentially possible that by rescinding his wish, and with the stone having dissolved to dust previously, that Max's wish reversal actually permanently destroyed the stone.

@@fostena that’s what I was about to say XD. This is probably one of the most boring rants on this channel. Loved learning about planes but wtf. Thought there would be way more to this rant than just, plane go brrrrrrr.
I mean The Closer Look made an hour long rant about this film which is also very detailed (more from a storytelling point rather than technical one but still)
I'm glad I wasn't the only one triggered by the whole "sonar can't see us because we're invisible" thing lol 😆 Edit: yes, I'm aware that when I wrote this comment at 3am a month ago, my phone auto-corrected to sonar instead of radar. It still doesn't matter if something is invisible when you are using the reflection of electromagnetic waves to detect something instead of visible light.
Well, we could say that since we don't know how invisibility works in the case of that plane, it is explainable by "magic". The plane is invisible, which means that somehow, visible light is neither absorbed, not reflected off of its surface. If it can do that on the visible spectrum, who's to say it can't do that on the radio spectrum as well?
All I could think about when watching WW84 was the phrase "Its a Wishing Rock!" back from trailers of the kids movie _Shorts (2009),_ then everything felt a lot more cheesy realizing both mcguffins were the same thing.
All movies has scientific plotholes and it's unavoidable. They don't need to hire someone to make a movie's science perfect because it's never gonna happen. The imperfection of the science in the movies is part of the stories. Besides, most people don't actually care. The story, cgi effect, action scenes, and the acting is more important.
there is another plot hole. when diana flies she grapples onto a plane. planes go around 500 mph and she goes from the whitehouse to her apartment in the watergate. she goes 7 miles in probably 100 minutes of the film.
uhmmm... Doesn't she 'grapple' lightening at one point? This movie is more holes then plot, so that seems fairly low on the "wtf" scale imho... But to each their own..
Theory: either Daina or Maxwell Lord wished for all the wishes to be cancelled or something like that. There's no way every single human being decided to cancel their wishes based on the speech Daina gave some would be too selfish to do that and some simply had not selfish reasons some would simply wish things like curing their own disease or disability or erasing that particular disease or disability from the world. No way something as cheap as "you shouldn't cheat kids" would work on these people. So either she or Lord cheated and erased the effects of the stone
Remember when Diana went to that shamans shop and found out what that stone was she found out it's true purpose was to create chaos! So even if someone wished for a disease or disability to be cured something there would be some kind of consequence!

“Okay they found a plot hole in our story with the plain. What should we do to cover this up?” “Magic plane.” “Ok! Good! So how about Steve being a 1910 pilot?” “Umm.... We could... say because of the magic wish he gained knowledge of current planes.” “Using magic is tight! So will this knowledge be consistent.” “Im going to need you to get all the way off my back.”
It is consistent if you’ve seen enough fiction. There are magic in fiction where a thing is invisible to human/living thing perception. As in when you look at it, you don’t see it. When you look at it on the screen, you don’t see it, even though it’s on the screen. And you forget you were ever looking for it. Your AI is screaming at you “master! I found the thing you were looking for! ” You: “what did you just say?” AI repeats. You: “did you say something?” AI repeats. You: “what thing? I didn’t ask you to look for anything.” AI describes the thing. You: “I’m sorry were we just talking? I must have dozed off. Anyway, what’s for lunch? “ AI: “master, it’s 22:00 now, we have been discussing the thing all day but you keep forgetting and asking me the same question!” You: “what were you saying? Anyway, I’m really hungry. What’s for lunch?”
(Note: I have not seen the movie) Depending on how exactly the magic invisibility works, it actually could be invisible to radar. If she's bending the light around the jet (or allowing it to pass through), it might not just be visible light, but the entire electromagnetic spectrum including radio waves.
Before watching: "I wonder if he's going to talk about the rape Wonder Woman did." After watching: "Ehh, didn't really apart from saying that it was kind of creepy to steal someone's body."
@@sophmumu depends on what happened the night she went to "Steve's" hosts house. Although I'm not completely sure that they were frisky. But basically what there saying is that if she did, to her its Steve but in reality it's someone random dude. So it would happen without his knowledge
if the invisible plane has some kind of magic that doesnt allow it to interact with the EM spectrum's visible light range, why would it allow it to interact with the radio wave range? physically pushing things out of the way like with clouds is a lot less like bouncing off radio waves than bouncing off visible light is
The magic is what hid her island from the outside world, so it probably just makes things impossible to detect, which would include invisibility and not being able to be detected by radar
Makes me wonder if she needs sunscreen to avoid UV. Btw, glad to see someone else also thought about the radio range thing. Visible light and Radio are of the same nature, and it's so often forgot by people that it genuinely makes me angry.
Matpat, the research you’ve done on this is amazing, the fuel amounts and distances able to be traveled, along with the radar and stuff, but I have one word that solves it all. Magic. Maybe Wonder Woman did more than just make the jet invisible?? Maybe she gave it extra power to travel to Egypt and maybe the invisibility somehow stops it from reflecting radio waves? It’s a bunch of unexplained power like you said, so maybe that’s the real solution to it all? 😂 Also I’m surprised you didn’t talk about how the dreamstone is still out there, thought that’s what you were gonna talk about when I saw the title. I’ll make another comment on that.
That's still an issue since she said she still trying to learn how to turn something invisible, so it-s highly unlikely she would have mastered keeping the jet in flight the entire rest of the trip
About the radar: The point is that THERE IS A PHYSICAL EFFECT, so the jet is reflecting radio waves. Even if we assume that the jet does not receive them, there are still fluctuations (due to the deformation of the clouds) that allow the jet's location to be detected (because yes, the radio waves react to the change in density in the air caused by the jet at full speed going through it).
"The last thing I want to do is ruin the next movie by... I don't know, pointing out that Wonder Woman's rocket will never get into orbit" Movie writers- Write that down, write that down!
Yeah the stealing US military plane thing was even more unrealistic. They dont leave planes full of gas like that, one of the main procedures is draining fuel for full maintenance, let alone having the fuel tank full to fly across a freakin ocean? They may as well ride a bicycle to Egypt from America, it makes the same amount of sense.

They had no idea where they going with her origins before she was suppose to be related to Obi-Wan (idk how that would’ve worked) then they decided to have her be related to Papaltine.
13:03 Small problem here, radio waves, like visible light waves, are EM waves, which makes them fundamentally the same thing just with different wavelengths, which means that if diana's magic cloaks the plane from all EM waves, they are also invisible to radars. But they forgot about the transponder so they're still dead.
I asked myself all If these questions. The part where Steve can control a modern plane, I was like “Isn’t he from 1918??” And the radar scene and I was like “That’s not how It works”.
@@joaoramos8497 No, because the plain has a physical presence despite being invisible. So radar will not pass through it. Matpat explained it in this video.
@@booklover311 But why are RADAR waves so different from light waves? What does "physical presence" have to do with this difference? He explained nothing. He just said stuff in a calm voice.
@@booklover311 yeah I got what he said. The thing is you see things because of the radiation that reflects from them. An object is transparent because the radiation passes through the object, therefore not reflecting it. Therefore I ask again, wouldn't the radiation from the radar pass through as well?
You forget, she made the jet invisible, now this would have been done by bending light around it. This of course would also mean air would bend around it and reduce drag to magical lows, thus drastically increasing fuel efficiency :)
Matpat, you’ve inspired me. Recently I have been watching this show called “The adventures of sonic the hedgehog” I think it’s on Netflix so any one wishing to see can watch it if they have a Netflix account. Anyway the two main stooges of dr robotnik are robots named scratch and grounder but I have a theory about them. My theory is that they are not robots at all but cyborgs. The show shows them having things like toungs and teeth and other organic body parts so maybe they are cyborgs. Would love for you to see this matpat, Theory on!!!
Hey mat, I agree with you: they could not have made it to Egypt. Not that I know anything about the electro-magnetic spectrum but I do know that radio waves are on them. If the "magic" bending light around the jet to make it invisible is bending electromagnetic waves (which it is since light is an electromagnetic wave) wouldn't the radar still miss it?
The transponder transmits a radio signal. Even if the magic keeps the radio waves from bouncing off, the transponder still transmits a radio signal that is detected by the receiver.
@@proredcat I don't know. Steve flipped ALL the switches. It was clearly on, judging from the radar screen in the tower. Thats what makes all that info pop up next to the plane icon.

I don’t understand why they made Steve inhabit another man. The writers could have just made him materialize or something. It makes no sense. Feels like a first draft script.
Coz she didn't make her wish out loud like everyone else, probably why her powers were only fading away gradually instead of immediately. And also you'll notice Max Lord's son didn't suffer any repercussions coz his wish was selfless.
I just wanna say that when I watched your first wonder woman theory I was living in an apartment in Georgia and I now live in a house in Florida, and have lived in this house for about two and a half years now. That's just crazy to me how fast time flies.
There is another saying similar to this one "Taught beyond one's intelligence." It's used to describe people that have memorized a lot of book facts but don't actually understand it and so they argue based on authority siting the book's dogma without being able to understand it.

Movie logic: invisible = no detection from radar
RADAR: *Am I joke to you?*

Theory: either Daina or Maxwell Lord wished for all the wishes to be cancelled or something like that.
There's no way every single human being decided to cancel their wishes based on the speech Daina gave some would be too selfish to do that and some simply had not selfish reasons some would simply wish things like curing their own disease or disability or erasing that particular disease or disability from the world. if the invisible plane has some kind of magic that doesnt allow it to interact with the EM spectrum's visible light range, why would it allow it to interact with the radio wave range? physically pushing things out of the way like with clouds is a lot less like bouncing off radio waves than bouncing off visible light is
That's what I also thought. Doesn't change the fact that the movie is trash though.
The magic is what hid her island from the outside world, so it probably just makes things impossible to detect, which would include invisibility and not being able to be detected by radar
Settle down Bill Nye

If the "magic" bending light around the jet to make it invisible is bending electromagnetic waves (which it is since light is an electromagnetic wave) wouldn't the radar still miss it?

It's used to describe people that have memorized a lot of book facts but don't actually understand it and so they argue based on authority siting the book's dogma without being able to understand it. Thus lacking the critical thinking needed to deconstruct it and see it's weak points or potential flaws.
The problem with this people is they are too stupid to realize how stupid they are and suffer from the Dunning-Kruger effect.
@@PyroMancer2k Where did you read that? Well remembered! ;)
And there's "Write what you know."
Though with fantasy stories, I can give it a pass, lol

@@cupajoe99 If authors wrote only what they know about, the type and range of stories we have access to would be severely, severely diminished.
I couldn't stop talking about the plane issue literally while watching the movie. It made me so mad.
DC did not do there homework
Using Tom Scott as the image for someone passing out, GENIUS!!!
Do a theory on how soul number 22 from the new movie Soul is actually Riley from Inside Out
Then in last skywalker they revealed she’s a palpatine

you poor soul. You wasted your money.
rip you, money down the drain lmaoooo
I learned that museums keep fully fueled fighter jets on display and a biplane pilot can fly it with no training. That’s a lot to learn.

Yeah right, that only happens on planned events
I was thinking about this exact thing when I was watching. I thought Wonder Woman's stupidity will backfire later on.
But then they would have to admit she was wrong. And that's not happening in that universe. Just like any negative consequences of her actions. Or basic logic.
Film Theory: How could the world go back to normal in “SNOWPIERCER”? And, how long would it take for everything to be normal/stable again? How would we be able to survive until things get back to normal?
P.S: yes, I know that the ice would melt... but how long would it take?
The thing that made that premise absurd to me is that they could just move underground, where the earth moderates the temperature. *Much* simpler/cheaper/faster solution to their problem... yet not a single person in their society considered this?
@@AMortalDefiant but the show says that the scientists froze the earth to its core
@@alexsierra4878 Then the snow will never melt. Literaly. The Sun won't be strong enough to melt ALL THIS snow. I think the snow melting works something like this : If the core is frozen , then the snow will remain as the core reflects the sun's rays. Only after being reflected and ,,Reinforced" by the heat from the core are the heat rays strong enough to actualy melt the sun.
@@liker-qd4fz true but in the movie (and spoilers for this part) Nam, was taught by an Inuit woman about snow and ice. In the movie you see the wreckage of an airplane... he later goes on to say that 10 years ago you could only see the tail of the plane. Now, you can see the whole wreckage and that the ice is melting. It’s also important to mention that the show takes place a few years after the “freeze” and the movie takes roughly 17 or 18 years after the “freeze”.
@@alexsierra4878 Hmm .... i WOULD have said that someone else did it (Desnowed the airplane) , but
1.Why tf would you put so much work into something so useless
2.I don't think there is ANYONE ALIVE ,,out there".
