      Sorry about the confusion lol I was totally being sarcastic because I’ve was born and raised here in NM and I’m almost 40 and I have always said/heard baby cry. I only recently learned that the “proper term” is cry baby in most other states lol

    Lol im 56 yrs old grew up in cruces and heard this since my elementary days. Lol we said it cuz we weren't allowed to say pissed off as children . And as an adult peepee hearted still hits harder than pissed off for some reason.😂😂

    Damn that's a funny one 😂 It is an old phrase!! In my native NM experience, I remember saying this in 1995 when I was a 5th grader at San Juan Elementary school.
    We said it because the phrase doesn't contain profanity, and teachers didn't really tell us to stop. It was used all the time in the Espanola Valley. Usually, when one kid or another was about to fight each other, it was generally an insult for someone being thin-skinned and easily hurt over something done or said.

    People in Az will tell you not to visit New Mexico but it’s a great place to visit we went to sante fe snd the people were very friendly and New Mexican food is really good. In the summer you have to go see the blue hole. The food is amazing it’s Mexican but with a spin. It’s some of the best food you will ever have.

    My Native Husband said back at LaMesa Elementary School, they were saying it.
    .....Asa adult he was at my family's home in Arizona on the Reservation. An during this family occasion he said that to my siblings & all of them stopped talking an said what does that mean ???!!!! He was the only one laughing. 😂
    He's from the Reservation, but was raised here in Buque !💯✌️

      Versus living in the Valley, and it's universal.
      My kids grew up with most of these sayings, and only discovered they were NM specific when we temporarily were stationed in WA.

    I read thru some of these. I’ve been saying that for decades. I always thought it was a mix of “pissed off” in English and “mad” in Spanish.
    We tend to forget what our native language is until we are so peepee hearted we can’t habla.

    So, funny thing. I only used to hear this phrase in the 90's and early 00's. The only people who used to say it, were people who liked to use 'not-cursewords' like 'what the fudge'. I'm assuming it was a way for kids call someone a pissbaby without getting too many raised eyebrows from adults. The problem is that these people never outgrew the word. Been living in New Mexico for 39 years and I haven't heard someone say peepeehearted in probably two decades.
