I purchased a 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness and ordered it with the LED bulb upgrade option. Did need to change out the hatch and license plate bulbs but they're done now.
@@LetsTalkTechToday Wouldn't license plate LEDs help with the dark view one gets from the crappy rear view camera? Btw, where did you bulb the LED bulb for the side light in the trunk? Thanks
The replacement bulbs for the reverse light offer a lot more illumination which is what these cameras need. All the bulbs used are listed in the video description. Adding the chrome vinyl stickers really helps to increase the illumination in the trunk.
I've also thought about replacing the rear license plate lights to LED but then had a second thought that I really don't want my license plate to be so noticeable at night. My thinking is that it would attract the eyes of law enforcement more and it would make it easier for any red light cameras to see, which I don't want 😉
Thank you so much for this very detailed guide and the bulb part numbers. Do you plan to replace the turn signal bulbs to LED? I'm assuming you'll need resistors if you do?
No. I think the brake lights and directionals are bright enough. My thinking was the same as yours on the license plate, no need to make it more visible now with traffic cameras
You would think if they can include LED headlights that they would also include LED interior lights. This is a worthwhile upgrade that is easy to do and very reasonable when done yourself.
I did a cross reference and it appears the 2018-2024 Crosstreks all use the same interior bulbs. The backup bulbs seem to be a different size bulb. These would be the bulbs to use for brighter backup bulbs in a 2018-2023. a.co/d/84TUmC9
Do you have any videos on how to change that annoying glove box light that should be banned using the incandescent bulb. All cars should use LED on their vehicles
Replacement bulbs that aren’t LED are readily available at any auto parts store. I’ve also found Wal-Mart to be good to pick them up for a fair price. I’d recommend converting to the LED bulbs that I have links to in the video description. They are so much brighter and use less power while producing minimal heat compared to a traditional incandescent bulb.
I attempted to replace the interior lights with LD bulbs. The lights never worked and all of a sudden check engine light came on and the eyesight wouldn’t work any longer. I called the local dealer only has 450 miles on it and drove it there and hopefully they can figure out what went wrong. Uggggg
Did you use the bulbs we recommend? If you happened to use LED bulbs that are not CANBUS compatible they could cause a check engine light to come on, unrelated to any engine problems.
@@mattalbr they said it had absolutely nothing to do with the bulbs I changed. Even though it happened twice exactly when I did it that’s what they said. They replaced the fuse that was blown. I have the OEM bulbs in and all is good.
In 4 weeks I bought two 24 Crosstreks and swapped all the lights you did, along with the cargo door. The difference is amazing. Thanks! 👍
Glad to hear our video was able to help you out.
I just purchased my Crosstrek this week and I'm definitely going to follow this guide. Thank you.
Glad we were able to assist. Enjoy your Crosstrek.
Same here…just got a 2024 CT Wilderness and I want to change these out.
Really appreciate the video. It's very clear and helpful and thank you for the links!
Glad we could help.
Thanks for the help, just saved $50 instead of buying the Subaru aftermarket kit. 👍

Thank you!! Needed this

Awesome and detailed informations 👍
Have you tried replacing the rear license plate lights to LED also?
No I did not I figured that the one thing I didn’t need to be more visible. Also didn’t change out the visor mirror lights I never use them.

gracias amigo ....
Gracias, señor. Le agradecemos que lo haya visto.
I don’t know why they don’t come with led bulbs already…Subaru needs to do this.

Are the bulb types the same for 2020 Crosstrek?
They are the same
I have a 2021 Crosstrek, will this also work?

I do not. And still trying to figure out if there is even and LED replacement for it.
Where do I get the bulb replacement - dealership or Pep Boys?

So what was the diagnosis and remedy from the dealer?
