Interesting that the derailment is not showing up in Maryland news outlets. Thank you for the post. It showed up in my recommended videos this morning.
Went from Hagerstown to Cumberland the other day via River Road and I saw two heavy duty crane sit at the siding in Hancock Maryland so hopefully it won’t be too long till they get the cranes there to help start picking cars back up
I have visited the museum thete twice. Stood right next to that wm switcher. Glad no one was hurt or killed. I line in Winchester VA., 40 minutes from Hagerstown.
This was quite the surprise hearing it from inside while working the counter, great video and good recording! This is also why we warn people to never cross the track, stay on the other side! ^v^""
The covered hoppers look to be loaded, still have wire seals on the hatches. I always thought empty cars were placed at the rear of the train behind loaded cars to prevent derailing.
Goodness! I remember seeing a derailment up at Curtis Bay last year. Actually, TWO Train derailments, both lead units bumped into each other at the switch and derailing each other.
This is why you don't put ANY empty centerbeams or empty flat cars on the front of the train. It'll cause a stringline derailment. This is always the problem with railroads. They ALWAYS put empty flat cars or empty centerbeams on the front of the train instead of the middle of rear
There is a common denominator on all of these train wrecks, not enough Personnel on the train! Mile long trains four engines pulling it only have one human being on the train! They didn't fall off the track this often when they pulled a caboose that could spot problems before they happen!!
All of the signs? And what might those be besides the cars being on their sides...lol. Stringline may be the result of, but not the cause of the derailment.
!Please do not attempt to approach the wreck as emergency teams are doing work and the area is closed to public!
The hopper cars were actually loaded…sorry for the oversight
Injuries?
@@420GanG_chan no, thank goodness no reported injuries
Where in Hagerstown was this?
@@joshuanewman9358CSX yard by the Roundhouse Museum
Has all the signs of a string-line derailment .. great to see the old WM power, and cabooses. I was born and raised in Cumberland.
Totally agree!

Thanks so much for watching…sad that it happened
Well.......that's one way to get a good look at the roof detail of a covered hopper without trespassing

Welp. It looks like CSX will be making a sizable donation to the museum’s restoration fund.
Its sooooo cool that the railroad would just generously donate all that rolling stock! Unannounced too!
Wow! Image what the people in the museum saw!
One of the members heard it and said it was loud

It’s a really nice museum and their holiday model train garden is always nice!!!
The Baldwin locomotive look like ok. Just hope no big damage on the cabooses

Hi, yeah, I should have realized that at the time but I think the overwhelmed by the scene of everything

This is what the cats see in that Cat Cafe in Japan with the train set where they knock the trains over.
Engineer in a hurry brakes likely not released
Yikes! Bad trackage?
Tight curve and apparently stringlike derailment
That's a wild scene Brian.
Certainly unexpected
The closest line is equipment of the Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum.

Excellent video my friends 😊awesome 😮 Greeting 👋🏻 from Argentina 🇦🇷
Thanks so much! Greetings!
The one day I’m not in town and a train wreck!
LOL! The entire US is train wreck.
Blocking a train to get to the next yard is totally different from building a train to get over the road.
Supposedly 100 cars being transferred to another section of the yard…it’s a very tight curve on that turn
Why isn't TH-cam allowing me to correct a misspelling anymore? They now block me every time I try!!
Oh no!
Actually those hoppers were full as they were sealed from my point of view
Yes, that was an error on my part
Sorry for the derailment.
My dog is a clutz.
He won't do it again, today at least...
I promise!
If the car lids are sealed, then the cars are loads. You don't seal empty cars
Some cars are sealed when empty to prevent accidental or intentional contamination. Depends on shipper and what the car usually carries.
@@ganjaguru7875 could certainly see that being vital with cars that carry things related to making food products.
@@filanfyretracker Those are plastic pellet hoppers.
@@johnparker7874 yeah, it was oversight on my part about the loaded hoppers…

Light, empty cars fallen to the inside of a curve. Yes, it looks a lot like a stringline.
I had 2 clothlin😅 in my career
