I think this pianist should have won first prize! I was also very impressed by Ingolf Wunder's performance, but François Dumont showed the more interesting, mature and original interpretation, IMHO. Daniil Trifonov, who has gone on to make a wonderful career, rushed through many passages, especially in the last movement. But he is a much more mature artist now, and I think he would play this differently today, more mature. I won't comment on the others, who unfortunately did not impress me so much.

As a deeply personal interpretation of this work, I believe this artist did a completely masterful job. I wish his body, and his face were calmer. But, if that is what it takes for him to deliver this tour de force, so be it.
I was at the concert of this pianist in Łazienki in Warsaw last Sunday. François Dumont sold his CDs after the concert. He keeps the judgment of this concert to himself.
