Well, AI is impressive, but it is far from being perfect, at least for now, and no matter , how "great" it becomes, it would never match the "human" touch we need for everything we do as "humans". At best, AI can save us some time and efforts, but can't be a substitute/replacement I believe.

I've been wanting to test ChatGPT for writing in DAX and/or M, and yes you've just answered the question that's been keeping me awake! 😁You still need to have a good grasp of Power BI to debug. Also, since I've picked up Power BI on my own, working on projects and lots (lots and lots) of research, I know for a fact that you will not find a 100% ready-made answer out there all the time. You need to be able to recognize how you can use available solutions out there to solve the issue at hand. Wording the questions correctly is another skill that's imperative to getting a solution.
True but in 5 years the AI will be even better so Data Analyst is likely to be replaced by AI completely. I am learning being a Data Analyst because I have no idea where I could work but I am also invested in learning AI and following my passions what can make for me money.

Hi Bas, thanks for not quitting... 🙏. I tried to use chat GTP to generate DAX code. I think for beginners it is very good. You can also specify in which tables your fields live. For example: "Generate DAX code to calculate Total Revenue where price is in the Product Table"

Hi Bas, great video again! One little addition: you can also prompt your error codes to ChatGPT and it will often give you a corrected version that works. Sometimes it will take a few iterations before you get exactly what you need though ;) Definitely exciting times! Like you said, just imagine where we will be in 2 years, let alone 5 to 10 years. The pace of progress in AI is in-sane!

2023 will be interesting. Keep in mind Chatgpt is just fine-tuned for a general use. If this AI gets heavily optimized for specific areas (BI, modeling, reporting) then a lot of people will be out of jobs eventually.
Its also the consumer version and at least a decade old, the military version of these tools are way more advanced and running on quantum supercomputers which is why our leaders are so arrogant and acting like complete loons as they know they dont need most of us. We've been kept in the dark for decades, the stuff that they have hidden away would shock every single one of us.

It's been a helpful tool for my team and I. In 5-10 years it will be a bit better on writing the code and possibly generating a dashboard. However, I think it will be longer for AI to catch up to whatever business you're in. Having the business knowledge and what to create in the report is key to success. AI insights now just look at basic revenue month over month, etc. The business I'm in is very complex and a simple revenue report doesn't cut it.
Hey Bas, I'm really glad you're not quitting yet, your videos are incredible. I think that in your review of what the AI tools are able to do, you're not taking into account the experience level of the user. These tools are probably way more useful for someone who is a relatively advanced user, who is already able to even "ask the right question". I spent a solid chunk of time asking ChatGPT how to update my query to see newly added columns to my source data. The answer was nowhere nearly as elegant as what you have in your video where you show how to do it so that it works dynamically.
There are always going to be new Powerbi users who will look up to you as much as the experienced ones. Your easy to understand tips are being used by me and many in their projects. Looking to see you post many more videos in future.
I believe that all these new technologies come to change the way of doing things, and not to change people. It just depends on how you integrate into your day to day. I think that the talent you have goes a long way and it is a great opportunity to explore new paths and to be able to help us with new ideas and solutions. Far from thinking about stopping making videos, a new world opens up in terms of how to integrate AI into what you do and show us with your talent how far we can go. PLEASE DON' QUIT!! Here's why: I'm pretty new to Power BI, but have profound knowledge of Excel. I tried ChatGPT to give me some instructions to create visualizations in Power BI. It was somewhat useful, but only some general information. What makes YOUR explanations so precious is the experience in practical use. I encoutered many struggles in Excels with pretty simple "mistakes" (like a weird space between numbers, or formatting struggles) that made my life hard, but was solved, when got a solution. AND THAT is what you excel in! You show the little tiny steps that make life easier and you have the knowledge to proof what is wrong and right. Maybe also use ChatGPT in your favour and show us what we can do with it. PLEASE KEEP GOING!

Bas, I'm a civ eng by formation and my reports shines more then the ones from my analytic support center where I work thanks to your channel. I refer folks to your channel and used many of your trick. Maybe an AI can write some nice DAX and all but it will, for the foreseable future, play within the defined parameters of the software and can't explain the nuances like you can, what makes your channel the best is all the tricks that plays around those parameters to get to the next level and the details on the why behind. Aint no AI that's going to do this for a god damn while.

Please don’t quit - I am learning DAX as a beginner. To appreciate the crux of power bi you basically have to appreciate your own capability and not have an AI tool taking over. Our own brains are the best AI around
I just started using chatgpt for writing DAX. I have done the course from Leila gherani on DAX so i know the fundamentals quite well. Pros: you dont need to google 1 hour for finding the correct Dax code, chatgpt will give it to you in 05 minutes after typing a couple of messages. Cons: you need to have a good knowledge to see if it is working correctly or not. You made the right decision. We love your videos alot and they are great help. Keep going strong man!
If you use a different sintax it gives you a better dashboard, for example using --ar 3:2 and UI UX on your command with a White Smoke background, you have better results in Midjourney

First, your tutorials are amazingly detailed. You know what I really need and I'm not sure if I'm alone, I need PBI tutorials/ideas that use NO DAX or new measures. The organization I work for has separate groups, "data enablement" and people like me who are data analysts and business analysts. I can build using stock visualizations, but if I need a new measure, I have to request it and have the other team put it in (which they wont because the goal of that team is to have the lightest data set possible).
I'm just gonna be honest here. I'm the kind of person whose main hobbies include watching tons of youtube videos from tutorials, education, to entertainment. I like this platform since I'm a visual learner and contents makes it easier for me to grasp knowledge. However, ChatGPT is just so mesmerizing. Even for someone like me who doesn't like reading topics with more than two paragraphs. ChatGPT is just something else, I couldn't stop using it and am on it for mostly 2 hrs nonstop everyday. I might sound exaggerating but it's actually very coherent, very accurate, very efficient, and lightyears above from any search engines today. I feel like I'm a child talking to an all-knowing teacher which could explain to me a topic to any degree I want it to. But nonetheless, I still push you to make contents about these topic since for me AI (ChatGPT exactly) is not a threat to youtube educational content community but I strongly believe that this will probably replace google search within 2-3 yrs.
Nothing in world can replace a human! Watching your videos means getting inspired and willing to try new things! Japanese in 80th have tried to do 100% automated manufacture plant, having idea - "robots can do everything". So, the outcome was more than interesting. I hope, you keep posting your cool videos!

Hi Baz - The AI Dax section, the AI is not making use of VAR in the DAX Expression, as a result it will be calculating the Max date, for every item in the virtual in memory table. Better to have the Max Date section in VAR
Great video, only more proof that you can't quit! You are totally right in that AI is very impressive but I would argue you need a LOT of DAX or M knowledge -- not just to make the code work, but to further debug it in more complex scenarios. So, please don't quit. You have a big audience base who really appreciates you!

I love your content and thank you for all the hard work you put into making these. I live in San Francisco and work around a lot of these tech companies. Unfortunately, this video and many creators I follow have made the same mistake looking at GPT3 today as if that is the end of the story. GPT3 is a baby compared to GPT4 rolling out next year, and they are already working on GPT5, which many analyst have reported is like magic. So you're looking at the tip of an ice berg and saying, "Everything is fine" but what's coming is anything but. My advice, prepare now tomorrow will be here sooner than most people think.
I'm just getting started in data analytics, and im trying to understand more about visual dashboards , dax, etc, and feel like tutorials are always handy!
As others have said, it is the whole process and the design decisions that makes content like yours still worth watching (and creating!) for a while yet. Some specific points: 1) for even a reasonably complex project, I'm not seeing these AI tools being able to do the full contextual data cleaning steps and setting up the data models. 2) ChatGPT is already well shown to be wrong way too often to be trusted with all learning and I think this is especially true of DAX formulas, because as we all know, DAX calculations are very unforgiving for giving real-seeming but very wrong results if built incorrectly and with a wrong understanding of the row context. And wrong dashboards giving wrong business signals are worse than no dashboard at all. 3) these AI tools can't learn new things unless they have new data to be fed: so if all creators stop making content, then after what, a year, maybe 2, too much of the AI results will be out of date and missing any new functions, features, techniques or styles. And they'll always be behind the creative style curve. So you have a role and you're good at it! Keep doing it please! 4) maybe I'll be a late adopter, but I sit here feeling a bit of disgust about the potential of having to spend all the effort to learn to ask the right exact question of the AI tools rather than continuing to be able to learn the Power BI skills of actually building my projects, via creators like yourselves.
As you pointed out, sometimes the AI's results need editing, and that requires DAX knowledge on the part of the person. I don't think this will ever go away. Some of the fixes were obvious to you as an experienced user, but that's the point. If you haven't already learned DAX, through someone teaching you, you can waste a LOT of time fiddling with a formula to try to get it to work or never get it at all. We need teachers, and you are one of the best I've ever come across.

Hey Bas, I'm really glad you're not quitting yet, your videos are incredible. I think that in your review of what the AI tools are able to do, you're not taking into account the experience level of the user. These tools are probably way more useful for someone who is a relatively advanced user, who is already able to even "ask the right question". I spent a solid chunk of time asking ChatGPT how to update my query to see newly added columns to my source data. The answer was nowhere nearly as elegant as what you have in your video where you show how to do it so that it works dynamically.
There are always going to be new Powerbi users who will look up to you as much as the experienced ones. Your easy to understand tips are being used by me and many in their projects. Looking to see you post many more videos in future.
I believe that all these new technologies come to change the way of doing things, and not to change people. It just depends on how you integrate into your day to day. I think that the talent you have goes a long way and it is a great opportunity to explore new paths and to be able to help us with new ideas and solutions. Far from thinking about stopping making videos, a new world opens up in terms of how to integrate AI into what you do and show us with your talent how far we can go. I have not followed your videos for many, but I can say that you stand out from the rest with what you do. You take your ideas to another level. It's not more of the same. Congratulations.
PLEASE DON' QUIT!! Here's why: I'm pretty new to Power BI, but have profound knowledge of Excel. I tried ChatGPT to give me some instructions to create visualizations in Power BI. It was somewhat useful, but only some general information. What makes YOUR explanations so precious is the experience in practical use. I encoutered many struggles in Excels with pretty simple "mistakes" (like a weird space between numbers, or formatting struggles) that made my life hard, but was solved, when got a solution. AND THAT is what you excel in! You show the little tiny steps that make life easier and you have the knowledge to proof what is wrong and right. Maybe also use ChatGPT in your favour and show us what we can do with it. PLEASE KEEP GOING!

I started my job a year ago know nothing about OBI. A tear later, PBI is the major tool of my job and I am at the pivot position of the company. Thank you so much the channel!❤❤❤ the reason why I like this channel is because it is so different from all the others. It tells me a lot of things about the details and fun twist of PBI instead of just simple things that I cannot find on the Internet. ChatGPT really mess up with dax. It usually gives us wrong answer. It still does not understand filter context or row context well.
Bas, I'm a civ eng by formation and my reports shines more then the ones from my analytic support center where I work thanks to your channel. I refer folks to your channel and used many of your trick. Maybe an AI can write some nice DAX and all but it will, for the foreseable future, play within the defined parameters of the software and can't explain the nuances like you can, what makes your channel the best is all the tricks that plays around those parameters to get to the next level and the details on the why behind. Aint no AI that's going to do this for a god damn while.

Please don’t quit - I am learning DAX as a beginner. To appreciate the crux of power bi you basically have to appreciate your own capability and not have an AI tool taking over. Our own brains are the best AI around
I just started using chatgpt for writing DAX. I have done the course from Leila gherani on DAX so i know the fundamentals quite well.
Pros: you dont need to google 1 hour for finding the correct Dax code, chatgpt will give it to you in 05 minutes after typing a couple of messages.
Cons: you need to have a good knowledge to see if it is working correctly or not.
You made the right decision. We love your videos alot and they are great help. Keep going strong man!
If you use a different sintax it gives you a better dashboard, for example using --ar 3:2 and UI UX on your command with a White Smoke background, you have better results in Midjourney

First, your tutorials are amazingly detailed. You know what I really need and I'm not sure if I'm alone, I need PBI tutorials/ideas that use NO DAX or new measures. The organization I work for has separate groups, "data enablement" and people like me who are data analysts and business analysts. I can build using stock visualizations, but if I need a new measure, I have to request it and have the other team put it in (which they wont because the goal of that team is to have the lightest data set possible).
I'm just gonna be honest here. I'm the kind of person whose main hobbies include watching tons of youtube videos from tutorials, education, to entertainment.
I like this platform since I'm a visual learner and contents makes it easier for me to grasp knowledge. However, ChatGPT is just so mesmerizing. Even for someone like me who doesn't like reading topics with more than two paragraphs. ChatGPT is just something else, I couldn't stop using it and am on it for mostly 2 hrs nonstop everyday. I might sound exaggerating but it's actually very coherent, very accurate, very efficient, and lightyears above from any search engines today.
I feel like I'm a child talking to an all-knowing teacher which could explain to me a topic to any degree I want it to.
But nonetheless, I still push you to make contents about these topic since for me AI (ChatGPT exactly) is not a threat to youtube educational content community but I strongly believe that this will probably replace google search within 2-3 yrs.

Hi mate, even if Ai can do all that you say it can, you still need somebody trained in power Bi to know what the end user wants. So we will always be the middle person between the client and BI. So happy YouTubing man.

Hi Baz - The AI Dax section, the AI is not making use of VAR in the DAX Expression, as a result it will be calculating the Max date, for every item in the virtual in memory table. Better to have the Max Date section in VAR

Great video, only more proof that you can't quit! You are totally right in that AI is very impressive but I would argue you need a LOT of DAX or M knowledge -- not just to make the code work, but to further debug it in more complex scenarios. So, please don't quit. You have a big audience base who really appreciates you!

I love your content and thank you for all the hard work you put into making these. I live in San Francisco and work around a lot of these tech companies. Unfortunately, this video and many creators I follow have made the same mistake looking at GPT3 today as if that is the end of the story. GPT3 is a baby compared to GPT4 rolling out next year, and they are already working on GPT5, which many analyst have reported is like magic. So you're looking at the tip of an ice berg and saying, "Everything is fine" but what's coming is anything but. My advice, prepare now tomorrow will be here sooner than most people think.

Hi Bas, after having seen how you handle yourself and you know Bi's tools and languages so well, there is still hope for humanity!!!
I'm just getting started in data analytics, and im trying to understand more about visual dashboards , dax, etc, and feel like tutorials are always handy!
As others have said, it is the whole process and the design decisions that makes content like yours still worth watching (and creating!) for a while yet. Some specific points:
1) for even a reasonably complex project, I'm not seeing these AI tools being able to do the full contextual data cleaning steps and setting up the data models.
2) ChatGPT is already well shown to be wrong way too often to be trusted with all learning and I think this is especially true of DAX formulas, because as we all know, DAX calculations are very unforgiving for giving real-seeming but very wrong results if built incorrectly and with a wrong understanding of the row context. And wrong dashboards giving wrong business signals are worse than no dashboard at all.
3) these AI tools can't learn new things unless they have new data to be fed: so if all creators stop making content, then after what, a year, maybe 2, too much of the AI results will be out of date and missing any new functions, features, techniques or styles. And they'll always be behind the creative style curve. So you have a role and you're good at it! Keep doing it please!
4) maybe I'll be a late adopter, but I sit here feeling a bit of disgust about the potential of having to spend all the effort to learn to ask the right exact question of the AI tools rather than continuing to be able to learn the Power BI skills of actually building my projects, via creators like yourselves.

As you pointed out, sometimes the AI's results need editing, and that requires DAX knowledge on the part of the person. I don't think this will ever go away. Some of the fixes were obvious to you as an experienced user, but that's the point. If you haven't already learned DAX, through someone teaching you, you can waste a LOT of time fiddling with a formula to try to get it to work or never get it at all. We need teachers, and you are one of the best I've ever come across.
