I had so-so germination success. My main problem...I wound up underwatering the seeds initially. Changed the setup to self-watering and I managed to save three plantlets. The seedlings really took off after the increased moisture levels! 🎉

These videos on african violets have inspired me to love mine so much more! I've just been trying to induce mine to flower (any suggestions would be helpful TT) but now I want to try cross-pollinating them too!

How do you know when seed pod is ready to be taken off plant and what do you do with it after you’ve removed it from plant?

Have you ever thought about diatomaceous earth for the thrips? It saved my collection!

Need help. Have been unable to cross my violets. I have 7 and nothing has taken. Any ideas? Are double flowers harder to get seed pods from? Can you recommend a way to keep stems alive long enough to produce a seed pod? Any recommendations?

Question.. when you let them go to seed, did they stop producing more flowers?

I've been seriously curious how these flowers are pollinated. I never succeeded so far

  • @christineplaton3048

You didn't explain. The seed pod is in a different flower? You didn't enlarge and can't see the pod

I think you are amazing such knowledge , is I keep trying with African violets and I have no luck , perhaps u can explain on 🌊 ng feeding and light, I love the violets but I am frustrated with no luck. Help

  • @IsomerMashups

How long did it take until you could tell that the pollination had worked? I attempted to cross several of my African Violets about 3 weeks ago and I'm concerned because the stamen doesn't even look slightly swollen. I've just kept pollinating other flowers in hopes one of them will actually take.
