    Thank you for this video. I am starting some African Violet seeds and you were very helpful. I don' t have a prop box so I put the container in a large zip lock bag to keep the humidity up. I can hardly wait for them sprouting.

    Haniya, thank you for making this video about African Violet seeds germination. I have Liquinox Start Vitamin B-1 home. I thought it was only for transplanting small plants and seedlings. The B-1 transplant solution helps reduce transplanting shock and promote root growth. Now you have provided an example of a new usage. 😃

      Thank you for watching! I figured that if it helps roots, it helps roots, and I haven't had any issues yet! It's probably not the right fertilizer forever, but I find it helps gets seeds going!

    Great video! I watched the cape primrose video too and it’s very interesting! I wanna try AV seeds this fall.
    Right now I have a strep fruit still ripening and have sown some Deinostigma tamiana seeds.
    Fun fact: African violets are now part of. Strepyocarpus!!!

    When the seeds come up are they long with little leaves on the top

    • @HaniyaRae
      @HaniyaRae  หลายเดือนก่อน

      should be two little leaves, depends on how much light they're getting for length

    If you run out of topics for your videos.....How are your Sinningias doing? I want to grow some next year.
    And there is one tree you might be interested ib. Its called Argania spinosa from southern Morocco. Very pretty looking plant.

    • @HaniyaRae
      @HaniyaRae  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the suggestion! and it's funny you ask about the sinningias. They aren't doing so well, so I'm asking the botanist who found irae how he plants his seeds...I think maybe cactus substrate wasn't the best idea for those seeds unfortunately

      @@HaniyaRae Maybe you chose the wrong time of the year. I realized some years ago that my Sinningias had an internal clock and it runs in brasilian time. Sometimes real sunlight is better than lamps.

      @@Neidhard-von-Blaufels very true! Many times I plant seeds by the moon phases/signs with the same thought, that it might have some connection with how well the seeds perform. I do think there are direct impacts from the cosmos to earth :-)

    • @HaniyaRae
      @HaniyaRae  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think so for either situation. I'd just make sure the light is even, and that they still have a covering to keep the humidity in

      @@HaniyaRae so I just started growing a bonsai tree and I’m really enjoying so I did some research and wanna start growing the violets. Any tips for beginners? • @HaniyaRae
      @HaniyaRae  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oh nice! i really like sungro's african violet soil mix. I don't have any more videos, but maybe I'll make some! I have a bunch of seedlings and plants. I think they light a fair amount of light, so you might need a grow light if you don't have a sunny window. Mine are in about 70 percent humidity but they can tolerate down to about 40 percent in a house.

      Unfortunately they didn’t make it, but I did talk to someone who’s had more success than me so I might do an update video shortly. Use 1/4 inch pumice and sand, sprinkle on top, and cover. They did say that sometimes the seed isn’t great, so just keep trying!!
