Sharay has always been an incredible bassist, been a follower of his since he played for CeCe Winans “Throne Room Tour” back in 2004, but since that time especially with Funk Apostles, Sharay Reed has continued to evolve into something other worldly, I mean its unexplainable. He feels the soul, funk, and gospel and just takes it to another planet. Incredible work!

He has such a short practical singing range though. He cannot even pull off the low notes he included. And he cannot belt out in his main working octave - only on his high notes. The music is repetitive and gets boring quickly because of the poor lyrical writing. And that studio needs to invest in an extra plug-in A/C unit cause the band is swimming in sweat :P

I was about to jump out of my chair and start clapping after that synth solo, and then I realized I was sitting at home in my living room. The music is really moving and Cory is amazing.

From that moment through when the girls come back in, makes me WEEP, there's something so visceral and purely joyful about this that hits me so hard. Absolutely phenomenal performance.
Josh Rogosin for President 2020.. He's the phenomenal sound engineer who IMHO makes this amazing concert series possible. Most sound engineers would have a breakdown when presented with the complexities that these types of concerts present sound-wise. You can tell he loves every minute of it when he nails it every single time. Hats off to you, Sir.

I was at Wolf Trap for Live from Here on Memorial Day weekend, and Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles were one of the guests. No one there, myself included, seemed to know what we were in for but he brought the house down. Post broadcast encore performance with Cory Henry and Chris Thile jam session set the place ablaze.
The whole set is amazing, but Sharay Reed is putting on a clinic. If one of my kids ever want to play bass, I'm going to sit them in front of this, and say "that's how you do it."
The only downside of that mind-blowing Lingus solo is that every time I watch/listen to something else he's played, I'm always expecting the same. He's always great, but the bar is now set so high...
I've seen Cory Henry twice, his showmanship and musicianship is commendable. Easily the best concerts I've been to in my life, he engages the audience like no other, everyone in the room gives him their full attention and you can feel it in the air. Great performance Funk Apostles!

I am so proud of Cory. I have all of his recordings and have watched him for years on TH-cam playing with Snarky Puppy, BBC specials and in various churches. This man is so incredibly talented. His voice is perfect, raspy and raw - exactly what is needed for his music. In the days of auto-tune, it is absolutely refreshing to hear singers sing and hear instruments played.

A lot of hate on Cory’s singing in the comment section here. Pretty dumb, being that he absolutely isn’t bad at all. The type of gospel singing he’s doing lends itself to some ridiculously monstrous singers, and his voice isn’t world shattering, but perfectly fine. Most likely better than yours lol
There shouldn't be any hate: his vocals are pretty good and certainly don't detract from the songs for me. He is expressive and conveys the melodies well!
Think of it this way.... It's like he picked a sound on his keyboard. He can run through patterns and lead lines, but it the sound is mediocre he could play a thousand notes, the sound is still mediocre.

The type of gospel singing he’s doing lends itself to some ridiculously monstrous singers, and his voice isn’t world shattering, but perfectly fine. Most likely better than yours lol
There shouldn't be any hate: his vocals are pretty good and certainly don't detract from the songs for me. He is expressive and conveys the melodies well!
They are entitled to their opinions. He knows how to manipulate the runs and he holds notes. But his vocal tone isn't has pleasing as his music
Think of it this way.... It's like he picked a sound on his keyboard. He can run through patterns and lead lines, but it the sound is mediocre he could play a thousand notes, the sound is still mediocre.

Why is it considered hate if someone does not care for the vocals? I'm not a fan of the vocals myself but I can vibe with him. Does that mean I'm hating?
