Those events are not for all orthodox countries, just for Byzantium. I believe that they were added in the purple phoenix update.

Yes, and they'll always average out positive because you gain 50 but only lose 25, so even if they're split 50/50 good and bad, you're still coming out ahead.

Sugla went to The Knights because I think they got a core there
Knight used to occupy a city on the anatolian coast, Smyrna, until Timur took it in 1402 or something like that
also, they used to hold the peninsula of Halicarnassus, where they built a fort using stone from the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the 7 Wonders:)))
The ruthless trait on the general may be influencing the length of the war. Also just pay the diplo, the war is slowing down the series.
From what I've seen, AI Albania likes to give back most of Byz's cores in a successful early war.. but they'll leave Edirne/Adrianople, which is pretty much the one province Byz absolutely needs to take in a successful first Ottoman war. Separate peace is probably the way to go here; it's not like you need trust with Venice or Serbia, and Albania's usefulness ends once Skanderbeg dies.
I've also seem they return the cores from karaman and none of byz. I was playing as Karaman when that happened
In my current playthrough. They returned all the cores bar Edirne (they couldn't because it is the Otto cap), also pretty much all the cores to Karaman, Candar and even the Knights' core in Sugla.
Then shortly afterwards starting with the Mamluks the Kebabs suffered war after war until my truce was up. I think it was 6 in a row with barely any time at peace. Don't underestimate the AI's scent for Ottoman blood.
With the ottomans rebounding, it won’t be long till you will be forced to separate peace. Better to do it now and get possibly all the land back, or wait and get a fraction, possibly none of it back

I'm getting literal war exhaustion from this episode.
Reload the file, it often helps to jolt the AI back into action.
The AI is forcing a separate peace at this point. May as well just take what you want and leave Albania to their own devices. Besides, it may be that he's waiting to give provences to Venice.

putting all your faith in that Albania would give you this land is foolhardy, it would make you to strong and him to weak. Honestly you could peace out and act as a buffer for future Ottoman armies and if Albania isn't going to peace out after that, than it's his fsult he didn't act sooner.
It's funny because taking even just Edirne makes him more beneficial to Albania's war than letting Albania peace out with the ottomans still in possession of the strait crossing

That’s a tough call man... but I normally try to avoid the separate peace and stay close with an ally that’s helped me out. Adds some more fun to the game if you have a good friend or two that you might go out of your way a bit to you stick with

This! Arumba already got like 200 mil point for free from events. Just pay the 177 diplo jesus.
I say the trust has been put forward and Albania is not going to peace out soon, then lose all that war score and sign a bad piece deal. Separate peace so you can for sure get your cores Arumba, then help him gain some territory later and say, "Albania, I knew trusting you was a good idea."

Skanderbro isn't going to negotiate piece until they have Dalmatia. I've noticed this in some of my games that if there's an enemy controlled province the AI will just go to the ends of the earth to unsiege the province. Also I feel that if the AI thinks they have a shot at getting the enemy to 100% they will even though it's bloody stupid.
Stupid ai is gonna wait for the call for peace status to hit -_-
But I would watch ederine. If he doesn’t make peace before it falls, take what you can get

No Name but the ottomans are now taking back territory, lowering the war score when he could have gotten peace at 93%. It’s be different if ottomans had rebels but more than likely they would for some reason spawn in the occupied territories

I approve of this series.
It's probably too late in the series now, but Byzantium is the only one receiving those events. They are part of the Purple Phoenix. Also, they stop once you get your 3rd National idea. So a good way to keep milking mana is to stay at 2 national ideas, until you feel it no longer pays well.
I've not played EU4 in forever, but seeing this made me want to go back, and I did, but I just keep getting rekt by either Venice or the Ottomans :(

Play for a challenging but achievable achievement. Once you've relearned all the tips and tricks, plus watching Arumba's series will see you catch up. Then give it a shot.

That's a game for you. Irl in 1444 Byzantium, Albania and Serbia was absolutely nothing. Ottomans could just stomp them.
You can't trust a robot. A few diplo points are a worthy sacrifice to start your truce sooner and make sure you get all your cores.
What's probably happening is that the AI is trying to get a peace deal that's favorable to everyone, but because it's just too high, it just doesn't have the war score required nor it's being able to please everyone, so it's waiting a little more

I suspect it's because Serbia won't give them the provience occupation they want. I do think you should trust him but you may need to help beat the ottoman army for it to happen
I'd take the peace deal, personally.
There is no increased coring cost anywhere in the Caucasus region, as of the Japan update (1.24)
Maybe Skandebro has "Fierce Negotiator" trait or something like this, when the AI has this trait the REALLY drag on wars they've already won. But I believe he will returns the cores to you, problably except Edirne cause it will cost too much.

The Knights have a core on Sugla.
You have no war contribution at all. The AI will give you nothing in those conditions. Don't risk it, take the separate peace.
I am torn as you between honoring the alliance with Albania and its performance in this war and reaching a separate peace to exit. But as time drags on agreeing to a separate peace looks more and more attractive.
I don't suppose there are further offensive posibilities against the Ottomans in Asia Minor? Looks like he retook everything there from Venice and The Knights.

In my experience the Albania AI never returns Edirne. At best you get everything except Edirne but you have to "share" the war score with the Knights, Serbia and Albania itself, as they all have cores to be returned.
Edirne is the Capital. Skanderbro can't use Return Core on it. I think he'll give Arumba back the other Bzy cores. And probably the cores back to the Knights, Karaman and Candar too. He'll take Vlore for himself and maybe give something to Serbia too.
Don't trust the AI, Arumba! If Skanderbeg doesn't honor your effort than you'll cease to call him Skander-bro, which would be sad :P no need to remind you that 90% in the comments section will say "told you so..." Finally, "e" sound at the end of Edirne - the Ottoman capital - is not silent, it's the same "e" sound as in the first "e". (Turkish is much like Latin, in that all vowels are never silent.) Love the effort so far, show 'em Turks!

I'm not sure how the peace deal turns out yet, but shouldn't you at least check to see what you can get in separate peace?
I did this campaign on my own and albania gave me all the land except for edrine. so IMO trust the AI.

Never trust the AI. Think you have to weigh up the opportunity cost with those diplo points. Which is more important the truce timer to go in against the Ottomans again or diplo points and trust with minor Balkan nations? Plus you get purple phoenix events that give you monarch points (or take them away) as byzantium.

Are you playing vanilla? Or with some mods?
Arumba you might need to restart the AI gets stuck sometimes in wars or just afk in provinces

Make a separate peace deal or you will get at most 1 province from the AI. AI takes war contribution into consideration; right now yours is at 1% so AI doesnt need to give you anything ... My money goes on getting 1 province from the peace deal if done by the AI.
I think you should trust him, but i think you should help more with destroying ottoman army.

Arumba, dont' trust the AI just for saving monarch points. It's just a possibility that Albania is going to give your cores back, and it may puy the campaign at risk. I don't think it's worth it.
Make Euboea and Athens consolidate
Those events only happen to Byzantium. Orthodox countries get patriarchy related events.
