Truly inspirational videos. I've been following your channel for a while and ended up with a Lenovo M82 with an Intel Haswell, Socket 1150, Xeon E3-1285L v3, 32GB DDR3 1600 mhz, an RTX 4060 and two SATA SSDs. Little to no bottleneck. There are plenty of PSU adapters out there and they work without issue. My 650W PSU might be overkill, but it works like a charm in this configuration.
I appreciate that, thanks for watching! I haven't messed with Lenovo very much outside of the p520, but that sounds like an interesting setup. I would like to explore some of the older Lenovo machines a little more.
I use a Z230 as my daily driver. I did not use an m.2, our IT guy mentioned that booting from an adapter doesn't work. Nice to see it featured in one of your videos.
With the end of Windows 10 next year, there is going to be a tidal wave of these hitting the used market. I would love to see you get this machine on linux and getting it to game.
Yeah that's true, probably going to see a lot of z240s as well, as they are only 6th gen. And that is an interesting idea. Going to try some Linux gaming down the line, haven't decided on the system yet, but maybe one of those.
That does make sense. I tried installing to a few different drives and even side loading and nothing was working. Then I started grabbing drives from old systems that had been running Windows in the past, and one of those finally sparked. It had been on the shelf for about 2 years, so I don't know what it even originally came from. But I think you're right, it was probably a legacy install of some type.
I installed a pretty hefty Samsung NVMe into my Z440 with a Turbo Drive G2 and it worked without a BIOS update. The Quadro P4000 however... six beeps, will have to test that in another PC first it seems.
I didn't realize until almost 2 minutes in you weren't in your black shirt. Glad to see you could finally get it going. Of note, I had issues using the HP Z drive adapter in a HP 800 G1. I used Ventoy to get around the BIOS issues.
There is a way for some bioses (phoenix bioses) that can be implanted with a nvme driver trough doctoring a bios update, so you can boot from it. It's likely you could do this for this one
Be careful to ensure the pinout is correct on those adapters, especially ones like that. (That's what I get for commenting before finishing the video).
@Lowcastle Tech, I would like to see you do a video on getting maximum games compatibility while simultaneously getting maximum FPS for $$$ on hardware from 2020. That and installing a stripped down, anti spying windows 10 and use it as a daily driver, and gaming PC for a month.
this one was decent - shows how you do want to buy older stuff but not ancient stuff - the new sweetspot is 6/7th gen - my hp g3 600 is running like a champ thanks to the prescient combo of chairdesk/techvest/and lite stik - no pool noodle moments
Absolutely agree! 6th and 7th gen is really where it's at right now in super budget range. Decent CPUs with good supporting RAM, and that's when most of the systems started implementing m.2 as well. Though with Chairdesk / Techvest / Light Stick combo... I suppose any hardware would be unstoppable!
You could try grub4dos on a usb drive and then chainload into the NVME drive, if the bios doesn't support it. Although Grub4dos needs to boot into legacy mode.
firs time seeing this channel and video but.... the beginning really just sounded like a Keanu Reeves speech haha but nice content cool to see what you did with it.
We didn't ASK if it wanted to game, we MADE it game.
Tell em!
I'm suprised cloud didn't ask if it can emulate playstation. Usually he acts up like that
On a quick sidenote, you can get e3 xeons instead of i7's for cheap
It WILL comply!
@@appsaucetech 😄The z230 reminds him of his Cloud Cage, keeps him in line... for now!
Always nice when a new video comes out JC ! 😎😅
.. 👍 ...one of the only channels I suffer through ads for.
😃 Thanks for checking it out!

I have one of these, i use it as a home server. Works fantastically with linux mint
Very nice! It is definitely a solid model for a budget server solution.

Nice, it's really not a bad machine. And yeah, I eventually got it to work but it was a chore, no doubt.
Thank you
Great video! I went through this same process with a Lenovo H-50 for a mom who's wanted to get into gaming with an extremely tight budget

9:50 shooting from the hip here...I'd be willing to bet if you do a legacy MBR setup instead of UEFI for the NVME drive it will work.

@@LowcastleTech try Windows To-Go it's deprecated but still works.

I'm going to have to get some different colored shirts, it has definitely become a thing 😄. And that's interesting, haven't heard of that one.
Chair desk would make an excellent Dr Who!
3:41 WE WILL COME FOR YOU! BEATING THE INNOCENT PC TO ATOMS WITH POOL NOODLE?? HE HAS THE BEIGE RAGE!
😄 The Beige Rage is spreading! Beige Rage Plague!

8:53 Chairdesk be praised.

Those are security risks. You'd be better off installing holoiso, or just debloating an install using the christitus tool
3:35 All those allegations were just a misdirection to distract the public from your own misdeeds. We see you now.
Another awesome project providing proof of pool noodle protection from Terminator sabotage 🎉

10:53 I'm not, Doom 3 is so optimized I b et it could run at triple digits on a potatoe clock.

Pcie slot , M.2 slot I was going to current expansion my 4590k / 1070 24gb ddr3 triple duo
All hail Chair Desk!
1:14 I see Lil' Cloud has been good. ANYONE WANT TO PLAY SOME PSONES??
"Extra proprietary" 😱😬💀😭
0:05 OH NOS, ITS TRYING TO GET BACK IN TINDER!!!!
They almost always start here
Used office or work pcs
Yes Lil' Cloud... It can run PS1 games. Back to the box!
😂🤣
How large is your adult movies and videos collection?
Chair desk featuring batocera .
Can you provide the details of the m.2 nvme SSD you ended up using and being compatible please?
Did he end up listing the ingredients that actually worked?
z240 is what I got :P
Hail!
Hail!
Last time I was mixing up Rembrandts my gf left me... 😁😎
😄 It is a dangerous game!
GTX 1080ti sounds excessively overkill for a Haswell, definitely a bottleneck

What a fiasco ❤
😄
I have a question, do you speak any other languages?
Its never about can it game, its about what kind of game you can stand playing lol
Wait, did you say, we will make it gay😂😂😂
I enjoyed the video, I don't mean to be rude but could you talk a little faster next time
