Bristol: A short film about my home

- I recently read a book called 'Do Fly - Find your way. Make a living. Be your best self'. The author, Gavin Strange, talks about developing creative side projects. It was such a refreshing read and I felt totally inspired, so I set myself a project and this is the result.

I live in Bristol for almost 3 years and im so in love with the city and i always find something to do and it´s pretty amazing .
Growing up in New Zealand to Bristolian parents I often got weird looks for my general attitude, accent (a unique hybrid Kiwi/Bristol accent) and outlook on the world, or generally considered an outsider, when I visited Bristol I learnt where everything that made me who I am came from and that I wasn't "a weird outsider" but that there was a place where I could fit in and not be judged. I've visited Bristol 3 times now in my adult life and still like to think of it as a kinda home away from home, or at least feels more homely than here at times. I love walking through St Nicholas Markets and checking out the stalls or just walking the city in general.
Bristol is very good and now has more job opportunities than many other cities in the UK

There was a riots last year in March . 15 rioters were jailed up to 10 years and a number

I too didn't particularly appreciate just what a great place my hometown was, until I (foolishly) moved away back in 2004. I miss the place so much.
Where did you move away to? I'm sure you could always come back for a visit :)
I moved across 'The Pond' to Colorado. It's beautiful here, but I do miss home. Unfortunately, I can barely afford the bus fare to get into Denver, so an international flight is right out of the question. I was last back there at the beginning of 2006. I've watched lots of movies on here, and it's just incredible how much Bristol has changed over the past ten years.

The first city to which I visit in Europe and the UK. All people whom I met in the city were funny, nice and kind. I still remember that I talked with a Bristolian guy who was really interested in the Northeastern Asia where I'm from. I do miss when I was in there so much. Thanks for uploading the viedo. Great vidclip, Ciara! I lived and worked in Brizzle for only 2 years, during 1977-79 - mostly residing on a boat in the docks! - but it was my favourite place visited in England and I always hoped I could return to stay for longer. Highly unlikely now, as money and health issues preclude that. However, it looks like the city and environs have gotten even more special as the years have passed!! I carry very fond memories of both the place and its people ……. Cheers, RjB (Down Under)
I just visited Bristol today. I was wowed by the giant murals that I could see in some buildings I like the view in the Clifton bridge as well, beautiful!

Wow,loved this, grew up in hartcliffe till 1985 moved to knowle for 20 years now living the quiet life in Ashton, love Bristol.
You captured the City's atmosphere perfectly! It's a beautiful place which has so much on offer. I love a coffee in The Canteen, or a pint somewhere in Kings Street. My Sister moved there from Belfast last year, so I always get over with my Camera every couple months. Great Video, hope you're keeping well!
I spent a week in Bristol this year and I've missed it a lot ever since... Definitely going back as soon as I can!

Brilliant. I was an exchange student at University of in 1980. I loved Bristol. I lived in the Montpelier area of town, and hoisted a pint or two at the Duke of Sussex down the road in St. Paul's. I hope to go back before my time is done, as I was thrilled to live in one of the best cities anywhere.

Have to say the Bristolians I've met have been very open and friendly types.and I love the accent.

This is so awesome! I was there this past summer for the first time, I remember seeing those Grommet sculptures on the boats ^^ i made a short video about it too, i liked the bear pit a lot!

SuperSamStuff do it! If you like football then you can go to Ashton gate which is not far from the suspension bridge (Bristol city’s stadium) and maybe learn about the history like the old vid which is like 170 years old and the suspension bridge built in the 1800s

I'm from the states, but I lived in Bristol from ages 5-9, my mum wanted to move there and my dad is from London, so there was no problems being able to do so
Bristol was the first place I could really call home, so when people ask where I'm from my answer usually tends to be Bristol
