Thanks so much Karue for posting this. So many people I hit with refuse to do proper warm up drills and want to start at the baseline. Keep up the great content!
We use a similar format but add volleys prior to mini tennis. Cooperative hitting but counting total misses for each segment (competitive!). Creates a fierce no-miss mindset.
Awesome video. I agree, playing mini tennis really helps you understand how to shape your swing path to gain topspin. I struggled with this for years and years, but playing up close kinda allows you to exaggerate the "brushing" motion. Gonna try the hitting from far back thing next time I play. Very insightful! Keep it up!
Great video--definitely taking these to the next session. Really enjoyed the thoughtful, logical progression on shaping and then putting in situationals at the end. Bonus points for rocking the Cali vibes with the blue skies and palm trees swaying in the back 😎
Hi from Australia Karue.. thanks for posting about the vcore 98 and ur personal set up. I’ve copied the exact specs, (albeit with a tension of 54 as prob don’t hit as big as you mate). What a racquet I absolutely love it. Your right it does a bit of everything really well. I’m 42 and have gone thru lots of racquets over the years (way too many !!! $$$$) always searching for that perfect mix.. and this bat is right up there. I now jokingly refer to it as the “holy grail” as it’s taken me this long to find it. Keep up the great content
Always great content! i try to share these types of vids as much as possible cause for some reason people have a real hard time warming up. Or they hit 2 or 3 balls the hit a winner on you, " congrats you won the warm up" and now we have to chase the ball instead of actually warming up lol. Anyway thanks as always, one of thr best tennis channesl on TH-cam.
So cool that you did a video for this! Every moment we spend on court we are forming habits - we have to try to make sure we are forming good ones (while still keeping it fun hopefully!)
The mini tennis topspin rally is a fairly difficult drill. It's pretty easy to hit a little too high or a little too much through your ball, especially on the forehand side. But it probably helps improving ball control, even at higher pace from the baseline. I guess I'll need to work on getting that control until it feels as natural as hitting the full court or attacking a short ball.
Thanks Karue for this great warmup video. Is there anything different you would suggest for warming up for doubles? What kind of volley drill games would you suggest doing?
Great lesson and insight! Have you made a video yet on how to handle a player who is always attacking your back hand with a high heavy ball with top spin? I have a two-handed back hand shot and I try to take the ball early (on the rise) if I can get there fast enough or go back 1-2 steps and give a high ball back to the opponents backhand. Should I be also looking to slice the ball and put it short back to my opponents back hand? Keep up the great work!
excellent content! Thanks, K. You're awesome. Quick question: for the 6th warmup, are both players still hitting down the middle or can the offensive player go for corners? Anyway, very helpful!
hey do u have any tips? i’m trying to make my schools team rn and i kinda suck hard it’d be nice to get the perspective of someone who rlly knows hs expectations and such. it’s ok if not 😁
@@madeline8439 Yes! First of all don't be nervous. I know that's cliche but nerves show especially on court. This goes for challenge matches, which you should also not be nervous about. Play to the best of your ability and be confident. 2nd thing is attitude. You could be the best player there, but having a bad attitude is a no go. Another important thing is to communicate with the coaches. I have a really good relationship with the coach and that makes things a lot easier. If you have anything more specific I do nothing but play tennis and video games so Id be happy to reply :)
this is great if you're just practicing, but what about when you have a match? what's the best way to warmup for a match since often times the opponent isn't going to want to do all these drills. sometimes i find it frustrating that my warmup depends on my opponent but i'm trying not to find a way not to be dependent on them.
hi karue, thanks so much for sharing these drills! my friend and i tried practicing the Offense-Defense drill the other day, and we had a disagreement on where the Offense player should be standing throughout the rally. He feels that the Offense player should be standing in no-man's land and closer towards the net. I think it's more effective if the Offense player holds his ground standing right on the baseline and generally recovering on the baseline, not constantly into no-man's land. Which position for the Offense player do you feel is more appropriate to practice the drill best? Thank you so much for your help.
Nobody should ever stand right at no man's land. Always recover behind the baseline if you don't come to the net. In this situation definitely stay closer to the baseline but never inside the baseline over and over. Your are right in your assessment
Please help me I have a problem in my tennis game I am struggling to put the serve in the service box either it’s net or long fault like No mans land or baseline .I generate good power but recently I and struggling with this .It started when I started service and volley practice as my coach told and now I am in very bad form for putting the serve in box so please help me with this Vijay molds
thanks, Karue… i will start using these techniques in my practice. ( you’re right, not a fan of mini tennis) question: i’m a senior player 3.5-4.0… How would the Vcore 95 be for a player at my level? I know some players who use the Vcore 100… i play with the pure strike 16x19, but i am developing some soreness, so i’m in the racquet market.
And keep in mind also tennis hq is Naomi Osaka's hitting partner and these are drills he does with her just to speak for the validity of these drills and for all the doubters out there.
These drills give you way more reps on important shots that you wont get from just free hiring. One month of doing these is like six months of playing 21’s.
I really love it that there's a tennis channel that caters to more advanced players. Videos like this have done wonders for my game.
Agreed!

Will do!
Great routine, can’t wait to try !
Great warm up drills. I love it. I also do a short court X drill, where one player hits down the line and the other hits cross court.
Yep short court is essential IMO
great video Karue, one of the nicest things on your videos, is your continuos comments through the video playing, it´s very very instructive, tks
Easily the best instruction on the internet. Love the camera angles!
Appreciate it!
Love these progressions. Sometimes I do service box volley warm-ups too, which are good fun.
I really liked this particular set of warm-up exercises. They made complete sense. Thanks.
Awesome!!

Love that!
Love mini tennis and focusing on hitting the sweet spot and feeling the ball.
Another great video! Filling the niche and providing material that other TH-cam tennis videos don’t. Keep it up!
Thank you!

Hi Karue, offense means a faster and flatter shot? By defense you mean hit high loppy balls?
Gonna incorporate this today, thanks!

Yes
