Of all the maker TH-camrs I watch, I think you have the most methodical and, dare I say, quality approach to creating stuff. Both your design and execution are top tier, and I applaud you for your patience and knowledge every time you upload a video. Keep at it, sir, you're filling a niche in a wonderful way.
You took your own builds to whole new level and I think that is the main reason I kept visiting your channel. In my opinion you are also in the list of badass markers of TH-cam.
Glad to see another video on the grinder! I really appreciate you taking your time to reply to customer issues or concerns no matter how dumb they might be!
One thing I notice ever since I watch your videos, the material you use is all "overkill" like they will last generations upon generations because of the way you built this belt sander! It looks good and very tough! Fantastic job!
Your design is beautifully practical, but outside the box as well. I’ve been building my 2x72 for a bit now, and I’m on the home stretch. I hope you don’t mind that I am planning on incorporating your adjustable table design into my own. I have seen many ways to do it, but none as good as yours. You should be proud of the way your brain solves problems. Very clever sir!
The things you call "Had to be done" is so incredebly satisfying to watch! Please don't ever stop filming them. Doesn't matter how small of an adjustments you think it is, for me (and I belive there is a few more sharing the opinion) this is the reason I use TH-cam. Small projects, informative videos, very nice results. And for the record, I think this is a large improvement.
This is the first video of yours I have seen and I already subscribed! I love how you clearly explained the reason for pretty much everything you are doing. Some "instructional" videos kind of gloss over important steps as if they expect you to know, but a lot of us are starting out with minimal knowledge of how to make these things so your clear instructions are great!
I merely wish to ask if you would make me one of your belt Sanders with a 36"x 6 in table with an additional roller 1" in diameter so that I can hollow grind some of my knifes? After seeing the great work you do I imagine you can come up with a way for the roller to push the belt out about 1/4" midway up the vertical part of the Sander. I can supply a motor, please give me price for this work. I live in Fresno CA. Thanks Steve
AND I wish that Jeremy made dozens more videos too! He’s been quiet lately so I hope everything is going ok. Such a clever guy who makes really entertaining videos with not an ounce of bs. Or shite music.... or patronises.
Jeremy, thanks for your continued diligence in the realization of your belt grinder. It is most important to me, and I look forward to other tools that you develop.
When You criticised, you old table, I thought ‘boy are you picky!’ But as ever your new one is definitely an improvement, worth having. I am addicted to watching your builds, I’m binge watching right now. Great stuff.
The "trial and error" methodology it's still the gold standard of industrial progress. Ideas can exist on paper but ultimately the only thing that a finished product can represent is usefulness. Which is the culmination of idea, design and execution.
Im glad I haven't started mine yet haha. Just bought your plans and they're awesome! Getting all together to build it. Looking forward to it. Thanks again!
This made me wan to buy the plans. They are great plans, worth every cent. This is a high productivity tool system. Thanks for investing your time to make smart projects and good videos!
Fine work I am in the process of building the grinder from your plans. I do not have a metal lathe. The radius pin will be difficult. Will drilling a hole, tapping it, and using a bolt with the head cut off work.
Now this is timely. I messed up making my table holder and decided that the only way to fix it was to make a new one. Now I can make this one and not feel as bad about scrapping the other.
I tend to focus more on the aesthetic end of design, but I'm always drawn back to, and really enjoy your videos - insanely clever solutions, that are always well thought out and logically explained :)
i built a 2 x 72 belt grinder entirely from your design, it's the best one out there. Only thing is i used the steel from some tractor implements i had laying around, so the flat bar is 1/2" and the main frame is rather fat, 1" anyway i did not have dimensions so i guessed what they were from logic... ! i had a few issues redos and fails, but the finished product is quite satisfying...! i am going to make another one with the right material and buy a set of your plans, now that i know what to do and what to expect.. it is a superior design Jeremy, very very quite, smooth, no vibrations i have a 3 horse 3800 ripums VFD L510 Teco/Westinghouse. took me a minute to figure out how to program the parameters. thank you and i will be getting a set of plans pretty soon, i got to get my Harley Back on the road first.... hahha
OK, I have a confession to make. I've watched a whole lot of your videos where I didn't click the like button. That was mostly because the video was finished and I watched the whole thing and forgot to click like. I now click on like even before watching any video if it is from you because I know IT WILL BE GOOD. I was not disappointed! Great video!
Have you considered getting some graphite backer for your platen? It reduces heat so that your metal platen won't warp, as well as making your belt last longer. Lots of places sell it.
Your work is so exceptional that the only thing it is missing is a little automotive BONDO to clean up welds that don't as planned. A guy did a video of brazing some cast iron mounts and did the BONDO filling before paint and you couldn't see where he had worked on it. Pretty slick techinque. I don't do it because I couldn't afford as much as I would need to make my work look acceptable !!
I really like you builds and videos. I wish you would buy a portable bandsaw. It kills me watching all the hacksaw work. Old guy like me looks for the easy way! Great job. I’m currently working off your plans to build my sander
Jeremy, I was hoping to get pdf plans for this table holder. Finally almost finished building my Gen 1 and purchased Gen 2 plans to build soon as I finish this one. Thanks
If you expect to make more sliding tubes, make a shrinking mandrel to build them around. It would work like a collet but instead of expanding in lots of directions, it would just expand in two. After welding, loosen a bolt on one end and give it a tap. Might need a surface grinder to do this properly. Build it for your smallest sliding tube. Add shims for larger sizes.
Nicely done as belts can be quite expensive and one wants to use all the available surface. As a former designer-drafter I find your analy retentive nature to be refreshing. Just a mention that it's a chamfer not a shamfer though. Excellent work at any rate.
Great engineering and execution. @10:21 I would have just welded another square 'tube' section on the top of the original - since the two screw anchoring worked well.
I really like your videos. And I thought I was king of overbuilding. But hey it holds up and doesn't fail that way. From an old guys perspective you should ask Santa to bring you a portable bandsaw. Watching all he hacksaw works wears me out Keep up the good work. I bought you sander plans and will be building it soon
Yes, the drawer clears the the table holder. If I drop the table itself all the way down, then the table post blocks the drawer, but that’s easy to get out of the way.
An other great video. I’m from Denmark and I am really thinking about of buying your plans .... but here everything is in millimeters. My question is is it easy for you in your program to change the inches into millimeters?
I would argue with you if you where not the maker, but I just will say that your are as humble as you are brilliant. If you ever come to Patagonia, please come to my workshop, you will be very welcome.
Братишка, ты проделал действительно отличную работу! Спасибо за видео и подробные разъяснения! У тебя огромный инженерный талант ! Так держать! With best wishes from sunny Russia !
My son and I are about to put a shop together so your videos and ideas are going to be used a lot in our household. Thank you Jeremy!

Five generations down the road will enjoy this grinder!!...great build J

Thanks! Feel free to copy anything I do :)
You put more thought and effort into an addendum than other people put into a whole build. Very impressive.
The things you call "Had to be done" is so incredebly satisfying to watch! Please don't ever stop filming them. Do it again and Do it right is the best feeling! So cool, Looking forward to next video
Yes! Thanks Martin.
I merely wish to ask if you would make me one of your belt Sanders with a 36"x 6 in table with an additional roller 1" in diameter so that I can hollow grind some of my knifes? I Stopped everything just to watch your new video. You’ve seriously have the best videos on the internets. Great job 👍🏼👍🏼
Eric Fleenor agreed I wish he made more!
I know, right?! One of the best build/craft channels on the interwebs.
Great ideas, style, pace, camerawork. Super glad I stumbled upon these vids!
AND I wish that Jeremy made dozens more videos too!
He’s been quiet lately so I hope everything is going ok.
Such a clever guy who makes really entertaining videos with not an ounce of bs. Or shite music.... or patronises.
Qué buena maquina cómo conseguir una
Jeremy, thanks for your continued diligence in the realization of your belt grinder. It is most important to me, and I look forward to other tools that you develop.
Always enjoy your videos. You're the only one I watch at 1x speed. I watch everyone else at 1.5x or 2x speed. Very impressive tool and construction.
When You criticised, you old table, I thought ‘boy are you picky!’ But as ever your new one is definitely an improvement, worth having.
I am addicted to watching your builds, I’m binge watching right now.
Great stuff.
Still one of the cleanest DIY grinders I have seen.
Great work!
You posted that just in time for me. I just finished building the grinder and platen and to days project is the table.
Glad I’m still working on the main unit in the plans and can opt for this new table holder version. Great work Jer!
It is really an Awesome Design! The process is a masterpiece of the "thing should make the life easier" approach. Don't stop on improving please!
Awsome job on the upgrade. It’s always an absolute pleasure to watch how methodical and detail oriented you are. Get videos get job
Great
What else can I say but great all around. Excellent presentation, great video, super explanation, and on and on. Thanks Jeremy.
Once again, excellent execution! Great idea and that grinder is extremely empowering. You can do so much with that thing!
This is one of the nicest belt grinders I’ve seen.
If there's no room for improvement, there's nothing left to learn. And if there's nothing left to learn, what's the point? Well done!
Well said! Thanks.
Very nice grinder and nice improvement as well . Quality build , Quality video and clear and concise explanation.
There are thinkers and there are doers, you are both!!!
Glad to see your making videos. I'm sure your very busy. Great work!
Wow I love this build, one of the best homemade grinders
Extremely well done. You have learned that experience is actually the best teacher and a far better design criteria.👌👌🖖
Nice craftsmanship in your work
This made me wan to buy the plans. They are great plans, worth every cent. This is a high productivity tool system. Thanks for investing your time to make smart projects and good videos!
Thank you!
Fine work I am in the process of building the grinder from your plans. I do not have a metal lathe. The radius pin will be difficult. Will drilling a hole, tapping it, and using a bolt with the head cut off work.
That will work, just won't be as accurate.
You have no idea how good it feels to get a new video from you! Was starting to worry you'd somehow accidently welded yourself into a box by mistake 😖
I think he will do it someday
Estimado Jeremy: Lo primero que voy a decirte es que, tu trabajo es enorme, fascinante, masivo, sólido! Lo segundo es: a caso vas a desvastar el titanic o algo así? Amazing work as always! Looking forward to seeing the tilting table design and construction!
Nice upgrade!
Now this is timely. I messed up making my table holder and decided that the only way to fix it was to make a new one. Now I can make this one and not feel as bad about scrapping the other.
really nice add on you make for yours 45° (and others) tables
That was it.. I just bought the plans.
look forward to more tables.. and perhaps a rotary platon?
Thanks! I think a rotary platen is doable. I could start with Beaumont's rotary platen and just build a bracket to fit in on my machine.
I was pretty excited about this video. Great piece of reengineering. Thanks for sharing.
Jeremy, just awesome, always coming back to watch your work!
I tend to focus more on the aesthetic end of design, but I'm always drawn back to, and really enjoy your videos - insanely clever solutions, that are always well thought out and logically explained :)
You focus on aesthetics, you end up with a nice LOOKING product, that works like shit. A la Apple.
i built a 2 x 72 belt grinder entirely from your design, it's the best one out there. Thanks! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
good timing. I am putting parts together to build your design, I picked up the plans some time ago. Seems like a good mod. Thanks
OK, I have a confession to make. I've watched a whole lot of your videos where I didn't click the like button. I bought a glass platen, so I'm hoping that will have the same advantages. Just haven't got around to adapting it to this machine.
Awesome, been wondering if you where thinking what I have been thinking about the hinge modification to a table attachment.
Always amazed at what you build and your ideas. great job. Glad to see a new video.
Yes I plan to get your plans just gotta get my money for it. Love the whole set-up. Still amazed at the table for it also.
Thanks!

Jeremy, your videos are always amazing.
jeremy uploaded! it's a good day!
Well I told you to fix this problem over half a year ago. Glad you finally did it.
You're referring to the clamping bolts, right? I don't remember anyone complaining about the height...
Nope, Jer. I was just kidding. Good job!
dont really need none of this but just watched 1h of your videos! So cool! Keep up with the good work!
I enjoyed every second of this video 😊I am not of a engineering back ground but looking at this video I wish I was 😊brilliant! Thank you
I really like you builds and videos. I wish you would buy a portable bandsaw. It kills me watching all the hacksaw work. Old guy like me looks for the easy way! Great job. I’m currently working off your plans to build my sander

I purchased your plans for the belt sander thanks for the addition I can see the need for it. When are we building a 4" version lol
Nicely done as belts can be quite expensive and one wants to use all the available surface. As a former designer-drafter I find your analy retentive nature to be refreshing. Just a mention that it's a chamfer not a shamfer though. Excellent work at any rate.
Nice and clean job!
Nice work! It was cool to hear Martin give you a shout out on Wintergatan Wednesdays.
Genius at work .
Great adjustment to your design elements, I look forward to beginning this build…just bought your plans for the grinder.
Great work 👍
Love the upgrad and makes sense. I will be doing this to mine as well.
Always a treat to see your work. Thanks for sharing.
Anything worth doing is worth overdoing! Very nice!
Nice job, as usual, great durability.
Always fun to see your uploads. Thanks Jeremy!
Happy 1 year birthday to the belt grinder.
Great engineering and execution.
@10:21 I would have just welded another square 'tube' section on the top of the original - since the two screw anchoring worked well.
Just bought your plans. I hope you make a million dollars!
Your a master at overengineering things
Hey, if 1 is good... 2 has GOT to be better.
I really like your videos. And I thought I was king of overbuilding. But hey it holds up and doesn't fail that way.
From an old guys perspective you should ask Santa to bring you a portable bandsaw. Watching all he hacksaw works wears me out
Keep up the good work. I bought you sander plans and will be building it soon
So great with so much details.
Thanks Jeremy, great job.
Great design. I bought the plans. Many thanks.
Great addition. Does that top drawer still open?
Yes, the drawer clears the the table holder. If I drop the table itself all the way down, then the table post blocks the drawer, but that’s easy to get out of the way.
Jeremy Schmidt excellent. Thank you for responding.
Well explained and nice work, as always. Thank you for sharing.
An other great video. I’m from Denmark and I am really thinking about of buying your plans .... but here everything is in millimeters. My question is is it easy for you in your program to change the inches into millimeters?
I can't easily convert the pdf plans. But if you download the Sketchup model then you can just switch the units to metric in Sketchup's settings.
Thank you Jeremy for your information. keep coming with your videos very nice work.
I'm always think of ways to better stuff too. Great job
well done Jeremy. Your work and videos are just great. keep up the good and inspiring work.
Bought your plans on Etsy. Super excited to make this grinder, thank you! @HoneyOnWales
We want more Jeremy!
Great Job Jeremy!
By now this must be the best belt grinder worldwide...And I'm measuring my words
I'm sure it depends how you're using it. For me it is the best, but might not be for the the next guy.
I would argue with you if you where not the maker, but I just will say that your are as humble as you are brilliant. If you ever come to Patagonia, please come to my workshop, you will be very welcome.
WOODA Reclaimed Wood
Thanks! It's been years since I've been to Patagonia. Would be fun to go again!
Nice job. Love your videos. I would love to see more.
Братишка, ты проделал действительно отличную работу! Спасибо за видео и подробные разъяснения! У тебя огромный инженерный талант ! Так держать! With best wishes from sunny Russia !
It's like you knew I had this as an upcoming "I have to do this" project. Cheers! ;)
can't wait for the tilting table!
Working on it as we speak!
Faaaantastic upgrade!!!
Sweet build!
Well done sir!
Nice video thanks Jeremy.
