Think I've seen this video 200 times and it still blows my fucking mind. I second the comments suggesting Life Without You (Capitol Theatre version) or Little Wing (from this same concert), both of those are possibly a couple notches above this one. Dude plays every performance different, and he almost never fucks up. Solid reaction bro, keep it up.

I told you that you would be picking your jaw up off the floor! Next, do "Life Without You" from the Capitol Theatre, "Look at Little Sister" from Austin, TX, and/or "Sound Check". In the first, he plays behind his back again - plus a few extra surprises. In the second, he breaks a string and switches guitars mid song without missing a beat, and in the third (which is just a pre-concert warmup and sound check, he rolls out of bed, picks up his guitar, and proceeds to set the stage on fire.

Saw him twice got to shake his hand in red rock's Colorado! For a lil short guy he had hands as big as mine were at 6'6" tall, he was like 5'8" or something. He even said you got big strong hands, have you thought of playing guitar 🎸, he knew I didn't play guitar because calluses were in the wrong places, and I told him I played alto sax, he said groovy man! I walked on air all night long...great memories...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠

LOVED THIS REACTION! Thank you fir posting another SRV. 🙌🏼❤️
What did I think? A TOP GOAT of blues guitarists!
You’re right too! No one plays a guitar with more heart and soul than SRV. 💎💎💎
What to play next? I vote
LIFE WITHOUT YOU, live at Capital Theater! 🔥🔥🔥
Why? - In that one, he overcame having to switch guitars at the beginning, had to adjust his foot pedal, had to adjust the sound speakers, broke s tooth, played his guitar in every direction, and did it all throughout WITHOUT MISSING A BEAT! He even laughs at himself while playing. Oh - and you get to hear him speak for just a moment as he delivers everyone a message! - So you get a glimpse of who / how he was. 👀
His singing is SO GOOD in this one and the playing - it’s different. Perhaps because he wrote and dedicated that song in memory of his old pal Charlie, that used to repair his guitars B4 Charlie’s passing of a sudden heart attack.
So humble, cool and down to earth.
Always loved and never forgotten. We love you SRV!✌🏼💜

A short time before Stevie Ray spins you see him make an adjustment at the top of the guitar. Count 37 beats from that adjustment, and that's when he detaches the strap at the bottom and goes into the spin. Every time I'm watching a reactor watch for the first time this video of SRV's "Texas Flood" performance at the El Mocambo, I can't help but count... anticipating the reactor's response.

Made it to the end, real MVP. GREAT, reaction. I’m so happy you got introduced to SRV. In most people’s opinion, one of the GOAT’s but in my opinion the real GOAT. He is absolutely enamoring to watch. One thing you might have missed is he had to take the strap off his guitar while he spun, and put it back on. After that, since it was behind his back and only on his front shoulder is why he can go front to back so quickly. I’ve asked myself a million times, how many times he had to practice that to make it that clean. Maybe thousands. He is absolutely amazing, and I agree with others I recommendations. He did some covers from Jimi Hendrix maybe even better than Jimi (sounds heretical, but true); like Little Wing and Voodoo Child. I’m a huge fan of Tin Pan Alley, Pride & Joy (a classic), and Mary Had A Little Lamb. Keep reacting to these, I love it, and am hitting the subscribe button now!

What you have experienced is one of the greatest guitar players ever. Stevie Ray Vaughn started playing guitar at the age of 7. Born in Dallas Texas. He was influenced by Ben E.King, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and Buddy Guy to name a few legends but a legend in his own right his biggest influence Mr. Jimmy Vaughn (big brother). The world was shocked by his untimely death in 90. His guitar playing was described as "A man on fire". I had the unique pleasure of seeing him in Austin Texas at this little 24 hour bar. It was small enough to be up close and personal. I shall cherish that moment always. Stevie Ray Vaughn you are always missed but NEVER forgotten.

Another outstanding reaction! On your Voodoo Chille reaction, I welcomed you to the world which includes SRV in it, let me give you another small mind bending tidbit (with SRV, this won't be the last!). If you pick up on the fact that Stevie's guitar has a deeper/fuller sound than any other guitar, there IS a reason. Stevie play's with .12 and .13 gage wire guitar strings (most all other guitarists use .06-.08). He is not unique in utilizing these heavier gage strings, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top fame early in his career also played with the heavier gage strings, but through the years has gone lighter. Not only does the string sound different, they are much more resistant to be "bent", thus making Steve's job that much more difficult, and require stronger, more clasased finger tips in order to impose his will upon them! Keep digging! We'll keep watching!

Thank you Kurt! Had no idea about the heavier gage strings...insane!!! Feel free to point me in the right direction for more amazing music from SRV haha I appreciate you man!

Besides the natural talent. One of the reasons SRV had that distinctive sound was that he played with heavier strings than most people. They are much harder to bend and manipulate. If you look close enough you can see that the fingers on his left hand are much larger than his right. From bending those heavy strings all the time I'm sure.

Oh I loved your reaction! How fun to see it again for the first time through your eyes. He was truly such an amazing performer, in all respects. My parents were able to see him in concert several times. My mom even dressed up as him on Halloween a couple of times. 😆 His music is amazing and I love that he still draws new listeners and viewers. Wouldn't it be amazing to see Chris Stapleton and Stevie play together? Now *that* would be a legendary concert. 💗

Listen to "Lenny" . Live at El Mocambo. Song for his wife. Its literally the sexiest song you're gonna hear. Thank me later. Also "Little Wing" also at El Mocambo is goated aswell. These 2 are easily his best performances. If you wanna hear something more rhythm oriented, listen to "Couldn't stand the weather" at the Capitol Theatre. "Life without you" live at nashville is also great and there he talks about his acohol and drug adicion and how he overcame those midsong. If you wanna hear some good old slow blues collabing with a legend, check out "Tin pan Alley" with Jhonny Copeland. So yeah, SRV is literally the goat of guitar no questions asked.

So, this right here was an appropriate reaction to genuinely seeing this performance for the first time. Seems like the world of SRV reaction video-lovin-kinda folks are all requesting the usual greats. I would suggest just owning this whole show, Live at The El...its on amazon prime even, dvd, whtever floats ya. The entire show, as all of his shows were, fire from beginning to end. I think if you want to see him at his best, watch him play songs he wrote for people he loved. At this show, he lights a smoke, sits down in a chair, and plays one of the best "Lenny"s, which is an instrumental he wrote for his ex-wife, Lenny/Lenorah. There's really not a bad SRV video in existance, with or without a guitar in his hands he's plugged in to something greater, period, end of sentance.
