The man became the guitar. No offense to anyone but today's music cannot hold a candle to what we had. So glad these greats were part of my youth. Vicki

Some fun things about stevie and this performance: This whole set was done impromptu at the El Macambo in Canada...so nothing about this was rehearsed. Stevie also never played any song the same way twice, so his band had to read him well to know what to do to keep up with him. If you wanna continue with some of his work look up: Little Wing and Voodoo Chile (El macambo version), Riviera Paradise, Cross fire, and Leave my little girl alone (Austin city limits performances), look at little sister with Jeff Healey, and pride and joy! Also, not only could he play behind his back. He could also play behind his head, with his teeth and by shaking the guitar. If you wanna see the wildest stuff look up his performance of third stone from the sun at the El macambo. The smoothest guitar switch after a broken string? Look up look at little sister at Austin city limits. **EDIT: Another cool one is the Texas flood jam session with Albert King. Albert King didn't like anyone to sit in with him and play but he let stevie do it and you can see the respect they had for each other. Enjoy!!

Welcome!!! Loved your reaction. I was blessed to have spent time with Stevie from 1987-1990, and I can tell you that he was as humble as he was talented. You want to see raw Stevie, watch the Sound Check video (with the leopard coat). I’d wait on that one though and take a listen to a few other performances. “Voodoo Chile” and “Mary Had a Little Lamb” from Austin, 1989 and his performance of “Tin Pan Alley” with pal Johnny Copeland. All FIRE!!! He was soooo good. Couldn’t read a note, all heart. Glad you discovered my pal! ❤Donna G

The thing with SRV, Eric Clapton said it best. He never looks down at his guitar, he knows what he is playing 5 notes before he gets there

A lot of great guitarists are fearless about improvising and not knowing what they’re gonna play until they play it. Stevie was different because he never fucked up. Ever. It always sounded like he knew how it was going to end when he simply didn’t.

Stevie is the best to ever play the blues. The great BB king said " Ive said playing the blues is like being born black twice. Stevie missed on both counts, But I never noticed" There will never be another SRV.

Stevie Ray was the best. Definitely watch him at Capitol Theatre perform "Life without you" where he continues to play after losing a tooth (semi spoiler there) and there is a Rehearsal video out there I think it's Stevie Ray Vaughn Mic Check- you'll know it's the right one when you see Stevie wearing a Leopard print full-length coat and a cowboy hat. Dude was a phenom. Also, Little Wing at El Mocambo will blow your mind. As much as you want to close your eyes to listen, keep them open!!! His talent is a blessing to behold.

The magic of Stevie. He earned and deserves his place as an absolute Legend in music history. He was so humble about his talent, saying it was a gift from God that he tried hard to repay. Paid in Full, Stevie. Paid in Full.

Voodoo Child, Life Without You, Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland. That’s a good start. I could listen to Stevie all day. He and Elvis are who I’ve been obsessed with for a while now. The entire "El Mocambo" show is epic. One of the best ever recorded. You need to sit down with that whiskey and a cigar and watch it beginning to end. I've said this before on other reaction videos to this video, but I will say it again. This was a time when SRV was fighting his demons of drugs and alcohol and it is documented that he was extremely high on cocaine during this show. That was part of the reason, besides pouring out his heart and soul, for the profuse sweating. SRV was, is and will always be the GOAT!

Wrong call on the drummer being boring. Chris Layton (drums) and Tommy Shannon (bass) are a phenomenal bottom end. They are tight and are just staying in the pocket while Stevie KILLS IT. They are also reading Stevie and his phrasing so they know when to change tempo.

Chris Layton the drummer was with Stevie the longest. He started with Stevie in 1978 till Stevies death in 1990. Stevie knew how to playthe drums and was. Very particular. He showed Chris how he wanted it done. Stevie was the star and the band happily just went with it because of his talent and he in tu4n totally 5rut3d them.

Jimi Hendrix was one of Stevie Ray Vaughan‘s idols. You really should react to Voodoo Chile’ Live from Austin City Limits 1989. In my opinion, that is the best version of Voodoo Chile’ performed live. One of my favorite quotes is, “Jimi Hendrix invented it, Stevie Ray Vaughan perfected it.“ I also like a quote by Eric Clapton. “ Stevie Ray Vaughan doesn’t play music, he channels it.“ another good one is Life Without You Live at the Capitol Theater.

My favorite guitarist & the one that got me into playing about 3 years ago, was feeling your energy even though I've seen this 1000 times minimum lmao. Life Without You @ the Capitol Theater, or Little Wing @ the El Mocambo is what I'd react to next from him. Both shows he's at other-worldly levels of playing, it still doesn't make sense after watching so many times.

THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR REACTING 🙃
    And a great reaction 🙏
There is a great Rehearsal that was filmed live...also as a contrast try his "Life without You" Live at Capitol Theatre.
I believe he should have been as big as Elvis...even Clapton c r a p p e d himself after hearing Stevie...he had to go on just after him once & didnt want to!!
Stevie was like Elvis...humble beginnings...God given talent that they channelled....self taught, soaking up anything that musically interested them...unique looks...kind & giving...personal problems but once onstage their charisma & raw talent came thru....it was all about the music..and Live is the best way to see Stevie..again, like Elvis u just have to watch-they are mesmerising ❤ sadly Stevie (and his great band) didnt really get the break they deserved until quite late on...Stevie isnt often even placed in the top 10 or 20 best guitarists!!!! That's frickin criminal & an insult.
So wish i'd seen him...thankful for all the footage of him going way back...even age 14 !! 🥰

He’s like the sham-wow of swag guitar. It’s like a late night infomercial. But WAIT…there’s MORE!!! 🤣🤣. He is never NOT amazing. Great react. Keep something absorbent in the garage floor for when you listen to some of the other suggestions (A T nailed it to be honest *in your comments*). Great react.

Seen him in '79 in a traditionally Black blues club, The Bluebird Lounge in Fort Worth , Tx. 150 people and 2 white boys, ( me and my buddy.) Stevie Ray and the band blew the roof off, and that joint was jumping. The Cops had to stop the show WAY after closing time. One of the BEST nights of my LIFE. I'm 64 and this is a very good memory.

I have this show on DVD, and though there are many great songs, I still think Lenny was, and is, something especially special.
