    Good video Randy. I also catch more on the 12" worm than a 10 inch worm. I won a 3 fish tournament tuesday night on a 12 inch worm. Its not just for big fish either. We culled 4 or 5 times with every fish coming on the Zoom ol monster magnum. Most came on the plum and plum apple colors. Love the tips but your helping my competiton man.

    Great tip on the big worms and colors. Big worms catch the bass in June for sure but don't neglect green pumpkin and the fire and ice color like Culprit makes is absolute fire in some waters.

    Thank you for another great video, Randy! Ive been fishing the Magnum Ol Monster for some time now and I do get more bites than with the standard Ol Monster. It is the only magnum sized ribbon tail I throw, Ive been throwing a Manns Jelly Worm 12" since I was a kid but always had a hard time finding a magnum ribbon tail.

    I live in Central West Coast Florida and since the first fishin trip with a local who I worked with framing houses what he told me that day had made a great impression on my fishing ever since He said When you want to catch fish here you can fish worms any color you like as long as it's black and the bigger the better Those days were almost 40 years ago back then we hunted out the biggest fat long black worms we could and even got some local worm pourers to make some exclusive worms just for us
    He also told me when fishing in Florida and having trouble getting bites the go to lure is a Devil's Horse and his favorites were black and the most beat up one that once was black After all these years that's exactly what I have and feel the same way
    We also shiner fished quite a bit and caught and released a ton of large fish in rivers lakes and mine pits My wife and I raised two boys who are now 43 and 37 between us as of today we right now own 3 large 16' 17' 18' jon boats 2 12' Jon's mine is a long tail mud motor 4 canoes 3 kayaks and a 22' bay boat We fish and right now we have two grandson boys being raised fishing and boy are they gonna inherit a ton of fishing equipment and gear an we'll probably tell them about big black worms we're talking about the Devil's Horses but haven't decided just yet

    Yes, Randy…nighttime red bug is the exact same color I use or red shad. I beg you any time you are fishing TVA lakes and the clarity is such you choose the red bug you must try throwing one of your Jigs with red (pinkish) living rubber and take out some of that red dye I saw in your other video and dip some of those white pearl super chunks or super chunk jr. in that garlic red dye. I promise you won’t be disappointed. I fish three jig colors just like TV red, green or blue. It all depends on the time of day and the water color.

    Use 16" here Southern Ca, in the Fall. Just enough weight to get them past neutral so 10'-12' deep takes a 20-30 count to hit bottom. If it does hit bottom usually no fish there. Something about that slow fall makes that huge worm irresistible in the Fall. Seem to like brown for some reason, go figure..?

  • @terrytresemer2864
    @terrytresemer2864 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not surprising I have them, but don't fish them a bunch. The lakes around here are heavily pressured, so I often go the other direction. You wouldn't think a four inch would catch 4-5 pounders but does. But those small one's you got to weed through. Yeah if they'll bite the mag's it's game on. My fishing partner has ask when he was first starting out what I expected to catch with that. A big girl of course! 😊

If a fish takes this worm and swallows it, won’t it kill the fish? I am not a tree hugger, just asking for your expert comment. Thanks so much Randy. Regards, Cam from Ontario.

    • @ricksonora6656
      @ricksonora6656 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The weight of the plastic and hook is balanced against the weight of the water it displaces. Plus, the line always pulls upward. So you use weights to adjust for speed of retrieve to get the desired depth and rate of fall.

    What do bass think a big worm is? I have always thought a snake but could be wrong. I don’t think a natural worm would be living in a lake.

    • @ricksonora6656
      @ricksonora6656 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Natural worms end up in the water when banks collapse. Also, when ground gets soggy, they surface for air and get washed into the water. Also, some snakes are semi aquatic. So the answer is, they look like food that doesn’t take much energy to catch.
