Hi Michael, its difficult because I haven't actually used the ones that are available in the US but the one I've seen used many times by very competent koi keepers is the Amscope B120C but its a little more expensive than the Apex Practitioner. If you want something a little less expensive have a look at the other scopes in the Amscope range as I believe them all to be good quality.
