Nice to finally see the ending! My friend and I never beat this back when we were kids. The best part, I still remember: my friend and I played the original Contra on NES, and the very first time we played 3 on SNES, we were blown away by the graphics, music, difficulty, etc. What a huge leap from NES to SNES. Plus, we were the only girls I knew who played Contra! Wonder how many other girls played this series? I feel like there's more girls playing today than when we were kids in the 80s/90s.
I was the only one in my neighborhood that had my SNES hooked up to a stereo with 12's. This games music rocked. It could have been used in an Arnold Schwarzenegger action movie.
3:50 I first played this game as a kid at a KayBee toy store in my mall. My parents couldn't understand why I was laughing my ass off while fighting this boss. On the way home I couldn't hold my laughter in and I exclaimed, "HE WAS HUMPING THE GROUND HAAAHAHAHAHAAA!!" My parents just shook their heads.
The sons, the story, the bosses the levels THIS GAME WAS INSANE. I hope they create a remake on PC ;D my infancy next to Sunset Riders another Konami SNES game
"Contra III: The Alien Wars" is one of the most popular games for the SNES. It is a great improvment when we compare it to "Contra" and "Super C", wether it is on graphics quality, music or even difficulty. The game is really hard and challenging, but that is what defines the Contra series. Good soundtrack and sound effects, gameplay and graphics, this game defines a retro shooting arcade game. Rate: 18/20.
There's no health, 1 hit and you die. You can earn extra lives by earning enough points for one, I forget how many points it takes to get the first extra life, and any additional ones after. This game is one hell of a challenge, my only advice to you, practice, practice, and practice, you'll need it.
I remember this game from my childhood and the sound effect of the screaming enemies, players, and explosion take me back. The time I was younger my brothers along with there friends where playing this game on the emulator and the weird alien and robot design look wicked and cool at the same time since the contra series is inspired by the alien and rambo franchise. But anyway this game was my childhood and the road warriors background music that plays at stage 4 bike ride level my brother love listening to stage 4 music and with the save supporting system from the emulator my brother kept repeating stage 4 level over and over just to here road warrior music while for me I like the entire soundtrack of this game so this game is something I remembered thank you for uploading this game.
The motorbike level where the ship flies over you, then you jump from missile to missile to destroy the ship is probably the coolest level design I have ever experienced. The early 90's was the golden period of Konami.
one of my foundest memories. i freaking love this game. this was my childhood! i just hope the kiddos can see this and be like "wow. those games are pretty cool" in between call of duty matches.
haha, I was on the edge of the chair and going OMG OMG on the missile jumping part, it is indeed very difficult, my brother and I manage to beat the game in hard mode after collecting tons of lives a game before, by killing eyes with the last enemy. Amazing longplay!
1: Contra 3 alien wars (hardest) 2: Contra arcade 3: Operation C (least hardest( I played through the anniversary collection where it allows 1 save state and makes it much more doable but still tough and not trivial as some would argue.
WOW. THIS GAME BRINGS BACK SO MANY MEMORIES. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MANY MEMORIES. I USED TO OWN THIS GAME OF COURSE. I USED TO PLAY THIS GAME WITH FRIENDS I DON'T SEE ANYMORE. WHEN I PLAYED THIS GAME I COULD EVEN BEAT IT ON THE HARDEST GAME MODE EVER. SO MANY MEMORIES.
Loved this game. I must have played this through with buddies more than 50 times. You could do some crazy stuff with the turbo controllers, basically firing both weapons at the same time. Using that and a joystick controller I once completed it in two player mode on hard by myself. Held the turbo controller in my hand normally and used my ring finger and pinkies to control the joystick. The hardest part was coordinating the missile jumping.
I once beat this game on the hardest difficulty without getting hit a single time. It took both skill and luck! Don't know if I'll be able to do that again.
I agree with that. I barely squeaked by a win ONE TIME ever. It's very fun, and it pushes against the edge of being Too Hard (but not quite). Last year, I tried it again, this time without my real SNES (it gave out long ago), using an emulator. Couldn't manage it, couldn't get past the part where you have to jump from missile to missile. This here is a great runthrough with only a couple of deaths! I can't imagine how practiced this guy has to be.
Dude u are a stud dawg but i laughed pretty hard the first time u died then again while u fought the first stage of the last boss. just got a lil overwhelmed there huh? Good gameplay man, ur a beast, me and my bro back in the day couldnt come close to beating the hard mode without the game genie so my hats off to you man.
It is really interesting in how it has a lot of mini boss bottles instead of just endless copies of basic enemies coming at you. There is a ton of variety in what you fight and how you fight it. I mean, he is fighting a boss while hanging off of missiles, how epic is that?
wao this game when small kid 12 I rent it those soundtracks and atmosphere it was very impressed for all the obstacles and the music have a 80's tone was very good game
this game was always incredibly difficult for me, at 4 to 10 years old but then never returned to this game when I started my life long love affair with retro gaming, I bet i'll still suck at it though
You can actually duck on the overhead levels - just press the B button. I didn't know about that for the longest time, and I found out about it yesterday, when someone mentioned it on the GameFaqs board.
Looking at the intro... the game was programmed in the early 1990's. At the time, something like 9/11/2001 was almost unthinkable. I'm just sayin' this to anyone watching this and wondering about the Twin Towers in the intro.
I finished this once on my own on the hard setting, back in the days when game playng was hardcore. But jesus I tried it again recently and it's so tough.
yeh back those days games were too hard as a kid i never came further than the big blue skull head, i rebought a snes when i was 16 and ofc i bought contra too this time i beat it with a friend, it took us a long time but we got it
Man, that laser weapon was just the _worst_, remember? You'd get so pissed every time you got "tricked" into getting it. Nice job to whomever played this. This game was not easy. It took a lot of... _deaths_, to figure the patterns out to stay alive, where to stand, which weapons to hold onto, etc...
Is this a rom or the cartridge? Just curious because I didn't know if my rom was screwed up because the sound effects sounded sub-par but I guess maybe that really is what the gun's supposed to sound like?
I remember back in 1992 I beat this game after one month of very intense play. I was able to go from easy to normal to hard and beat it on one life. ONE! Oh and I didnt use any game genies or whatever.....
Is this a rom or the actual cartridge? Just curious because I didn't know if the sound effects were just flawed on the rom or they really sound like they do in the game.
There are such bad-ass bosses throughout the game, and then you are faced with the brain the shoots eyeballs and then has legs and then proceeds to get even weirder.

I played this game a ton with my brothers. I love this game. ❤😊
@@superlinkfighter me too. We never played it on the original hardware but we played a lot on emulator and finished 1st contra on NES and this kne
Brought the memories flooding back, used to love this game and I completed it on hard too :)
I was the only one in my neighborhood that had my SNES hooked up to a stereo with 12's. This games music rocked. It could have been used in an Arnold Schwarzenegger action movie.
Actually, one of the characters looks exactly like Arnold Schwarzenegger on the cover for Contra for the NES.
if you look at the front cover of the original predator movie, that is where they got the pose from for the front cover of contra
At 3:33 when you are waiting for that arching fire on the first level, I ALWAYS had to do a double weapon pose there.
3:50
I first played this game as a kid at a KayBee toy store in my mall. My parents couldn't understand why I was laughing my ass off while fighting this boss. On the way home I couldn't hold my laughter in and I exclaimed, "HE WAS HUMPING THE GROUND HAAAHAHAHAHAAA!!" My parents just shook their heads.
Pervert kid.
Pretty much, lol. Don't worry, I grew up. I just figured the story would make people laugh.
+BalancedSpirit79 I'm pretty sure it made no one laugh
I laughed as I recollected and subsequently typed the story. It counts. ;)
Dixie Normous, it made me laugh because i imagined how his parents react to a kid saying that. :P
This game got "the most bad ass game" seal of approval when I was younger!
The sons, the story, the bosses the levels THIS GAME WAS INSANE. I hope they create a remake on PC ;D my infancy next to Sunset Riders another Konami SNES game

amazing looking back at this game and the quality they put in it.
1: Contra 3 alien wars (hardest)
2: Contra arcade

+Chase Hickson I don't care, dude. I know what I did.
+walderinc You calling me a liar, dude? I just think you're jealous because I could do it and you couldn't!
John-Paul Hunt You tell him, man!
i got a SNES for this game back in the day, i remember how awe struck i was at the boss of lever 3. Good Memories
music tracks on 3 and 4 stage are most badass in the whole game !
The cyborg turtle looked like he was humping the ground.
You make this game so easy. Good longplay. :)
maaan i still got this game and an snes. the memorys
I would've loved to see the 2 weapons-at-once trick for ultimate firepower combo!
I agree with that. I barely squeaked by a win ONE TIME ever. It's very fun, and it pushes against the edge of being Too Hard (but not quite). The Alien Cell ending is I think one of the best ending of Contra III.
This game was so goooood, the coop. DAMN IT I WANT TO PLAY THIS AGAIN ON SNES
Damn, the Konami logo nearly destroyed my ears!
First game I got for SNES. Also the first game I finished for SNES.
Great memories.
Dude u are a stud dawg but i laughed pretty hard the first time u died then again while u fought the first stage of the last boss. just got a lil overwhelmed there huh? This is the best game for the SNES i remember as a child i was begging my mom for this game!!
LET'S ATTACK AGRESSIVELY!!!
this game was always incredibly difficult for me, at 4 to 10 years old but then never returned to this game when I started my life long love affair with retro gaming, I bet i'll still suck at it though

17:54 - STAGE 5
21:00 - STAGE 6
God I love this game.
God, that overhead desert levels makes me so dizzy!
Chuck Norris playing.
when he's sleepy
Man, the enemy hitboxes in this game are some of the HARDEST to dodge in the history of videogame.
Looking at the intro... the game was programmed in the early 1990's. At the time, something like 9/11/2001 was almost unthinkable.
I'm just sayin' this to anyone watching this and wondering about the Twin Towers in the intro.
that's a lot of mini-bosses and major boss fights in the last level
i love the contra series best video game series ever love it thank you konami
this was me and my cousins favorite game we were kids
Thanks for the video, I was a kid again :)
that konami intro rocked!
I finished this once on my own on the hard setting, back in the days when game playng was hardcore. But jesus I tried it again recently and it's so tough.
It is fun to wach, how you play! Awesome bro:)
it is an excellent game. I only wish it was a bit longer.
yeh back those days games were too hard as a kid i never came further than the big blue skull head, i rebought a snes when i was 16 and ofc i bought contra too this time i beat it with a friend, it took us a long time but we got it

Coming here after playing Contra Spirits/Super Contra III for the NES (It's a bootleg). Now I feel as this is an Arcade version to the NES lol.
u make this look easy, i died so many times playing this awesome game when i was a kid .lol btw great gameplay.lol
It hard to beat that game when I was little kid.
Is this the original or a hacked fan made harder version? From the third stage on, every enemy was a boss battle. This is crazy.
It's original.
Now that's not the first time you've played that is it?If you listen carefully about half way through you can hear the A.I gently sobbing to itself.
A solid SNES title.
>nothing beats the cannon + Flame thrower combo.
C+C
I love this game they should make a movie of these game
so epic from beginning to end
23:10 That thing is slamming the wall to the beat.
Esse cara joga pra caralho!!!!
Is this a rom or the cartridge? Just curious because I didn't know if my rom was screwed up because the sound effects sounded sub-par but I guess maybe that really is what the gun's supposed to sound like?
You can usually tell if its a rom because the sounds effects are different than the actual game. Its messed up.
I remember back in 1992 I beat this game after one month of very intense play. I was able to go from easy to normal to hard and beat it on one life. ONE!
Oh and I didnt use any game genies or whatever.....
love this game so much that i bought it for my grey snes
Uno de los mejores y mas clasicos de la super
damn. I love the music from this game
Wow, you're a gaming champion.
7:52 The song that made me a real gamer
Is this a rom or the actual cartridge? Just curious because I didn't know if the sound effects were just flawed on the rom or they really sound like they do in the game.
min 3:03 LOL, the floor is Lava

Contra 3: The Alien Wars is ultimate interesting war after all cubex55.
Epic boss music.
I love this game and def u're just awesome! ;)
Once in a life time i get to see an alien war.
3:52 - It's the Metroid Queen! Looks like it, anyway.
I could never get what to do in the top down levels, never got where to go...
ahhhh the flamethrower
such a cool game
There are such bad-ass bosses throughout the game, and then you are faced with the brain the shoots eyeballs and then has legs and then proceeds to get even weirder.
I played the Probotector version with a friend co-op. I rather play Probotector because they look much cooler.
You're right!
I like them better as well. They seem more in place with that world.
Is this game avalable on the Wii Virtual Console?
How come you don't use the spread gun?
