Honestly the control do feel a bit dated, especially when you compare to the control of zero mission, fusion, and dread Still an amazing game. I still consider it the "role model" 2D metroid game
This is one of my all time favorite SNES games to play and I still play it since I got the classic SNES edition so I can relive my childhood by playing Super Metroid as this game was really awesome.
Super Metroid (Super Nintendo) is one of my favorite video games of all-time. The video brought back wonderful memories. The atmosphere, graphics, music, boss fights, and everything else about this game is a perfect 10.
At 32, I'm finally playing this game for the first time...just wow. As someone else said, the atmosphere is unmatched. Thanks for this playthrough, as I'm definitely going to consult it when I have trouble with anything.
just finished the game and watching the vid. I can now say Super Metroid is a terrifying, challenging, and above all, fanominal and a timeless classic. And the video helped me get past some tough parts

While I enjoyed the first Metroid Prime game immensely, why the hell can't they realize that all we want is "another Super Metroid"? Developers act like hand-drawn sprites and 2D platforming is a sin or something.
Well, Metroid Prime was in many ways Super Metroid in 3D. Also, Nintendo has made more 2D Metroid's since Super. Fusion and Zero for the GBA and most recently, Samus Returns for the 3DS. So I think Nintendo has done a good job of serving up traditional 2D Metroid's and 3D ones. Other M and Federation Force are the only major duds IMO.
Ahh...The memories, the old days, no downloading, no online, no smart phones, no tablets, no Xbox ps1,2,3,4, no DVD's, no blu rays, no HD, no DLC, no flat screen tv's, no Kardashians, no instagrams, no TH-cam, and no social media, just you and Samus, I miss those days, life was so different back then, give me a thumbs up if you're that 90's kid growing up.
The Playstation 1 was first released the same year as this game. And the internet existed, it just wasn't nearly what it is today. DVDs were invented just 1 year after this game.

That wall jump... How would you know the game had this mechanic? In every game you can jump, walk right, left ... it got me stuck in many parts of the game.

My second metroid game... I remember when I was 11 I got Fusion and scared the shit outta me (Fucking Sa-x) so I didn't want to play other metroid games. Two years ago, however, I decided to give this series another chance. I downloaded this gem in my 3ds and man... Such an awesome game. I can totally see why it is so legendary and praised. Metroid is by no means my favorite franchise but I love this game and I hope someday, I can play Prime or give Fusion another chance.

For it's 2D formula? Yes! It still is till this game. Now that doesn't mean others ( like Zero Mission, Fusion & Samus's Returns ) did poorly. Oh no. They're still great; especially Zero Mission, but none of them aren't as perfect as Super.
This game ranks up as oneida the best games I ever played. Seems that most games I have the most time enjoying are retro games like this. Games nowadays dont have the effort put in as they were back then
They cater to a different market, a market afraid of a little difficulty, and the ability to use the brain to solve problems while exploring a sizable world laid out in front of the player. Plus hey, no hour long tutorials in those retro games, you read the manual if you had one, understood the controls, and saved the world (or a princess or damsel in distress).
I am here after finishing Super Metroid again this time under 3 hours along with all items collected. Yes I also save the animals as always because I know people get upset when the player don’t save the animals.
There are several types of playing styles. Here's the gist: A playthrough is self-explanatory; I don't have enough chars to explain it. A Longplay, as I've come to understand it, is a playthrough where the player tries to 100% the game as fast as they can. So that means exploring everything, getting every item, etc. 3 hours is good. A Speedrun is an attempt to beat the game as fast as possible. A Let's Play is like a playthrough, but often blind. A Walkthrough is a guide to beat the game.

Looks like a cool game. I just wished they would go for more of a 16bit kind of music style. it's easier to create atmosphere with it. Graphics and gameplay seems awesome though. I'll keep an eye out for this

This game takes me back when my brothers play this game alot back when I was so young.When my other brother was videotaping my mother on the videotape that was also taping my brother playing super metroid on my old video camera the location my brother playing was at the underwater world maridia and I love how you fall inside the huge long tube door where you go up and down so fast through the long tube door. As child I had an earworm of the ending music playing in my head when I went to a different church with my family as first I didn't like the music but later growing up I like the music and the first time playing this game at a young age I didn't know what to in this game like for instance where to jump on or where I should shoot at something that's not there or where I should put to in this game I ask my brother if he can help how to play this game but my brother refuse to help me so I quit playing this game.But years later the time I was growing up while I was doing some math homework I shall my brother playing this game but this time on the emulator downloadable system.I was so anxious and excited about this game but my brother wanted me to focus on completing my math homework before I can play super metroid and so I did.This time my brother teach me how to play super metroid with everything I know and then I started to enjoy this game more and super more although I had trouble with the alien animals helping me out like I how got stuck in brinstar ravine hole with theses koala like-alien creatures the etecoons where the only way to the top is by wall kicking but without tripping my grip.Sometimes the flamingo like-alien creature dachora was a little trouble for me unless I learn how to control the shinespark speed limit power and do cool tricks like launching yourself though different directions.And the fire world norfair I got stuck in the second ruins of norfair well it wasn't that I was stuck I was too scare to cross the lava pool and I know that the gravity suit it to protect me in lava and help me walk though underwater without slow down and help me breathe through the heat of norfair but in the second area ruins of norfair lava do burns you which why I was scared to cross the lava pool even if I turn to the left side of the door the lava will be already full but if I m on the right side of the door then that's when the lava starts rising from above the bottom but later I faced my fears to just cross over the lava pool and to not worry about taking hard damage because along as I already in full health for collected enough energy tanks including my back up auto reserve energy tanks I"ll be find and I''ll be able to beat the game with no problem.As a youngster I always through the wrecked ship world with the monitors with metroid on it where samus without her helmet hiding her looks or may be it look like outside of the wrecked ship itself but later when I look closely at the monitor real hard I just realized it was a just metroid.In norfair fire world me and my brother like how the space pirate fight into there kung fu position where they kick for close range melee attack, throw there pincers at you, they block your missile fire, but when they perform there jump roll flip move that when there invincibility flicked off for a short briefing time giving me a chance to shoot the kung fu wanna be space pirate before they are being destroyed unlocking the other door leading to the norfair fire world boss ridley.Although what sucks is the door sealing off the entrance in tourian the final base world but on the other hand this game was my childhood that I will always remembered for how enjoyable the super nes was great times thank you for uploading this video yeah.

I remember playing this game as a little kid being scared of the aliens lol. This was resident evil level of scary for me haha. Room lights where off, just the glow of the TV and my super nintendo sound.
Super Metroid on snes is my favorite game and I found all the Missiles super missiles power bomb and energy Tanks and ice beam and plasma beam and wave beam.

since TH-cam used to compress videos to only 30 fps and in most SNES games, flashing on sprites is done every other frame, the result is that only those invisible frames are shown
I am going to write that, as of today, it will be my first attempt at beating “Super Metroid” it isn’t my first time playing it, but it is the first time that I will play through it in its entirety and complete it as soon as I am able to.
as long as they keep the gameplay stileand don't turn it into a 3D shooter: definitely. and they should keep the music, too, cause nowadays every nintendo game has this "oh cool beats and e-guitars" music style that I HATE to an extent that I want to throw my consoles and games out the window and light their remains on fire. but that would be totally stupid and maybe I want to play sometimes so I restrain myself :P

And (almost) 30 years later, this still does not feel dated, in image, sound or mechanics. What a timeless masterpiece!

this game is still good now meaning its a true classic, but if you played it back then you would have really seen how ahead of its time it was.

Didn't own the original cartridge, but I beat it 100% before on SNES Classic. Greatest Metroid game ever. Way better than the NES title.

As child I had an earworm of the ending music playing in my head when I went to a different church with my family as first I didn't like the music but later growing up I like the music and the first time playing this game at a young age I didn't know what to in this game like for instance where to jump on or where I should shoot at something that's not there or where I should put to in this game I ask my brother if he can help how to play this game but my brother refuse to help me so I quit playing this game.But years later the time I was growing up while I was doing some math homework I shall my brother playing this game but this time on the emulator downloadable system.I was so anxious and excited about this game but my brother wanted me to focus on completing my math homework before I can play super metroid and so I did.This time my brother teach me how to play super metroid with everything I know and then I started to enjoy this game more and super more although I had trouble with the alien animals helping me out like I how got stuck in brinstar ravine hole with theses koala like-alien creatures the etecoons where the only way to the top is by wall kicking but without tripping my grip.Sometimes the flamingo like-alien creature dachora was a little trouble for me unless I learn how to control the shinespark speed limit power and do cool tricks like launching yourself though different directions.And the fire world norfair I got stuck in the second ruins of norfair well it wasn't that I was stuck I was too scare to cross the lava pool and I know that the gravity suit it to protect me in lava and help me walk though underwater without slow down and help me breathe through the heat of norfair but in the second area ruins of norfair lava do burns you which why I was scared to cross the lava pool even if I turn to the left side of the door the lava will be already full but if I m on the right side of the door then that's when the lava starts rising from above the bottom but later I faced my fears to just cross over the lava pool and to not worry about taking hard damage because along as I already in full health for collected enough energy tanks including my back up auto reserve energy tanks I"ll be find and I''ll be able to beat the game with no problem.As a youngster I always through the wrecked ship world with the monitors with metroid on it where samus without her helmet hiding her looks or may be it look like outside of the wrecked ship itself but later when I look closely at the monitor real hard I just realized it was a just metroid.In norfair fire world me and my brother like how the space pirate fight into there kung fu position where they kick for close range melee attack, throw there pincers at you, they block your missile fire, but when they perform there jump roll flip move that when there invincibility flicked off for a short briefing time giving me a chance to shoot the kung fu wanna be space pirate before they are being destroyed unlocking the other door leading to the norfair fire world boss ridley.Although what sucks is the door sealing off the entrance in tourian the final base world but on the other hand this game was my childhood that I will always remembered for how enjoyable the super nes was great times thank you for uploading this video yeah.

I remember playing this game as a little kid being scared of the aliens lol. This was resident evil level of scary for me haha. Room lights where off, just the glow of the TV and my super nintendo sound.
Super Metroid on snes is my favorite game and I found all the Missiles super missiles power bomb and energy Tanks and ice beam and plasma beam and wave beam.
I've never ever played a Metroid game before. Gonna give this a download!

I am going to write that, as of today, it will be my first attempt at beating “Super Metroid” it isn’t my first time playing it, but it is the first time that I will play through it in its entirety and complete it as soon as I am able to.

as long as they keep the gameplay stileand don't turn it into a 3D shooter: definitely. and they should keep the music, too, cause nowadays every nintendo game has this "oh cool beats and e-guitars" music style that I HATE to an extent that I want to throw my consoles and games out the window and light their remains on fire. but that would be totally stupid and maybe I want to play sometimes so I restrain myself :P
