I always love the history you present with each game you master. I've beaten many games that you've reviewed, but this one was a catastrophe for me, even with save states on an emulator. Very fun to watch you see it through. This is a fantastic channel by the way. I've watched nearly everything, including the massive Final Fantasy two-parter. I'll turn 40 this year, so I grew up on Intellivision, then Nintendo at like age 6. Watching your videos is like nostalgia in the purest form. Thank you for all your research and hard work.

Just turned 40 myself. Such a great time to grow up with gaming as a whole. I’ve gone from watching my brothers play games like punch out and Metroid and trying to play to now trying to get my kids interested in Metroid dread and breath of the wild. The music from these NES games hits my nostalgia so hard

38:47 I believe C-3P0 was referring to surviving an astroid field.
Here is a technique for surviving the astroid field: move the Falcon into one of the upper or lower corners then immediately go in the opposite direction or corner when you see the astroids. That way you have a continuous motion, maintain better control of the D-pad, and minimize the damage. Thanks for the upload.

    Great video!
It took me so long to complete this game when I was in elementary school, yet I still didn't know about a few secrets here.
Just a few things I noticed:
    - You can use your lightsaber to lift the energy orbs, 1-ups and shields to make them fall down. This is useful in Mos Eisley, as you can remove energy orbs in your way if your HP is full. If you need them later, you can come back, as they will respawn, but the enemies won't.
    - In the room with the Beam, you can either keep climbing up the ladders and shooting it while jumping, or, if you cut it down with the lightsaber, you need to make sure it won't fall on your head, so you will either have to avoid it or cut it again.
Another way is that you shoot it once then hit it with the lightsaber to destroy it straight away.
    - In the trash compactor, if you hit it from beneath you with the lightsaber, it will bounce up and you will have to hit it again. Otherwise, it would kill you in one hit.
    - In the last platforming level, you don't need Leia to do the jump. You can avoid landing on the platform and just hold left until you fall down to a platform in the spikes. If you haven't touched the ground after you flew up, you can get down there without taking fall damage and continue to go up from there.
    - In the very last stage, you can spam the A button for the rockets if the TIE Fighters come behind you, as it is able to hit them them.
    - You can also 100% the game without even collecting a single shield.

My family moved when I was in sixth grade and all of my stuff was in storage. The only game we had was Super Star Wars, which we got for Christmas. Everything else was in storage. My brother and I played it so much that we got to
The point where it wasn’t hard anymore. I remember thinking it was hard when I first tried it, but then it got so easy that it was hard to remember it being hard.
Then I just tried it again recently and MAN. That game is brutal.

This game kept me playing for hours and hours every day for a solid year trying to beat it. Never was able to beat it as a kid, even with the Game Genie. Even now I have to use an emulator with cheat codes AND save states to get past the asteroid field. I got VERY good at the caves, sandcrawler and Mos Eisley, though. Another video well done, good sir.

I remember exploiting a glitch in one of the versions of this game (I think it was the Master System version) where after Han Solo dies, you go back into Mos Eisley and pick him up again, and he would have an empty life meter, but it wasn't flashing to indicate he was near death. This is because while he wasn't totally invincible, he had roughly 40 or so meters worth of extra health so long as you never picked up any of the health items, which makes him nearly invincible.

I borrowed this game from a friend back in the day. I could never beat it, though I did get to the trench run once or twice. Everything looks like it should, everything is identifiable, and the unique stuff doesn't look out of place.

    This is a great video!
I played this game for the Game Gear as a kid, and the GG version was a little different. You start as Leia on the Tantive IV, then they cut out a lot of the caves. Plus they swapped out a few sound ex.
Also, I think there is a way to take out the indestructible purple guy from the cantina in the GG version. It was something really weird, like hit him once with Hans blaster and then immediately switch to Luke and slash him with the lightsaber. Plus I think you had to hit him in the back. I may not be remembering correctly, but it was some kind of convoluted thing to pull off 😂
This game is hard but fun and has a lot of charm. I loved some of the music. And the ship graphics always intrigued me. All of those weird ships in the docking bay made my imagination run wild!

Those FPP levels were my favourite when I was a child :D

This was so hard I could only beat it as an adult and with maps. Still one of my favourite movie-based games on the NES. Along with Batman and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Maybe you’ll do that one day.

Great video, as always, now that you mentioned Beam Software, I would love a video on ShadowRun for the SNES, that is an underrated game, every now and then I replay it again.

I gotta go get out that Nintendo power and look over this again. Love the artwork and design from that era of the magazine!
