I think this is why I love photography so much ..the solitude and peace...it does open your eyes more and I have definitely become more observant and notice more around me ❤
My interest in photography started after suffering a mental health breakdown, due to work related stress! During that period of absence, and as I started to recover; I would take myself out for some walks and the occasional bike ride. I decided at that time to purchase a small Ricoh GRii camera to carry around and take photograph of anything that caught my eye….nothing special but it really helped me re-focus and take notice of my environment….I found this very therapeutic and I have enjoyed photography ever since✌️
I find the whole business of taking photographs to be relaxing as it demands 100% concentration; that means for me that other thoughts cannot intrude. I don't mind if I don't get any shots worth keeping, because the process of shooting in itself is enjoyable. If I do take any photos that please me, that is an added bonus.
Yes, Gary. Taking pictures, regardless at what level and what gear is being used, is a conduit that opens doors phyically and emotionally. This is an important subject to have in the public domain.
I love when you say that photography is a way to be present in the moment, the world becomes a little clearer and the details sharper, I think you hit the nail there with what photography did for me too. It's a different way to see the world, with more colour, lines, lights,... personally it helps me get out of my comfort zone, focus on other humans, then come back home with a different perspective even on my own everyday life.
Hi Gary, I am just putting together a video on how photography helps to keep me active in my body and mind. At 78, I needed the motivation to get out of the chair. Taking pictures, sitting down to edit them, and then making a video for TH-cam keeps the grey cells active. I'm putting on the cowboy hat on Saturday to video a country singer. I love country music.
Yes photography really does help, just the walking, the looking, my brain gets stimulated, the coffee shops the people, I love it.
That’s great to hear. And I think it’s such an important topic for us all to openly talk about

Thanks! I think that's great, it's almost refreshing to be able to focus 100% on something and "reset" if that makes sense?
@@gary.likes.photos couldn't have explained it better
