Moma, take ques from Papa Joe, don't talk about yourself when you are supposed to be cheering your baby girl on. I could see the disappointment in her face and I think the ball was dropped in lifting her spirit up. This girl came from being in 6th place at 1 time to winning 2nd place! In my book that's worth a party that evening! First is not always the goal. Finishing is. Back in the day just wanting to participate was worthy of a ribbon! Moma you have lived her age, this is her first time living her age, so never let a chance go by to let her know that achievement is not always who came in 1st but who stuck in there to finish the race! My kids are always sizing me up in a playful way. I don’t thinks it’s bad to let them know how well you once did and still support and congratulate them. We aren’t perfect parents but it wasn’t malicious to state her PR time
Ayili actually did very good, and this is coming from a former track athlete. She has great running form. She ran like it was easy for her! If she keeps at it, she will definitely get faster.

@Koffee&Mei This is true. Although we don't know whats going on behind the scenes, it's our job as parents to help them find and foster those talents. Outside, looking in, it's easier said than done, especially with Alena's schedule. She may not even be aware.

I agree. Alylie never seems to be supportive of her 2 full sisters Arizo and Azaio. She always seem embarrassed or in intolerant of them especially Arizo. And she's been like this since she was very young.

I am so proud of all these young ladies. My son is now 26yr we were the only African American family in our Troop of 109 boys and I was an Assistant Scout Master for a fee years of our over all 11 years of scouting in Orange County.

My sister coached at Bowie State when they won their conf that year. From a competitive viewpoint when you’re working towards specific goals it’s not being harsh. It’s giving advice to help the athlete work on areas of improvements. Baby girl understood.
