I am _loving_ this run of _Fantastic Four!_ I love the throwback, 1960s, episodic, super expaliner-y science fiction. And I love the creativity and body horror being used with Reed's powers. Stretchy Skeleton!
North *loves* shapeshifting characters. You can see it every time he picks up one, from his use of Ratatoskr in Squirrel Girl, to Jake in the Adventure Time comics, to every time he manages to smuggle a skrull in his comics. He's clearly having a blast with Reed.

It's insane to think not too long ago there was literally no Fantastic Four title in comics and now Ryan North is delivering the best Fantastic Four since Hickman in this book where the FF are just fully comfortable in their jobs, it feels like peak Fantastic Four in the way that Grant Morrison offered us Batman in his peak by embracing everything that was Batman and this just is everything that is the Fantastic Four.
Having the smaller scale stories but with the Drive in and Dives spin is such a great idea ! He mentions Star Trek but I almost get a Dr Who feel from it
Outside of Johnny’s stash I’ve loved Norths FF run, it’s a really fun take as it’s not really a superhero book nor a science adventure book but a family book - the family just happen to be superheroes

I adore the current FF run and it’s so cool that you got the chance to interview Ryan. I love the high-concept episodic approach he takes with the book and how it really gives all the FF characters a chance to shine (ether the main 4 or the supporting cast like Alicia or the kids).
@matthewfarrelly9719 yes, there is a Valeria-Namor combo issue in the works. I am praying that North does the impossible and ends one of Marvel's worst recurring tropes: Namor's lecherous obsession with Susan Storm. I want him to write Namor as a threat, as Valeria despises him completely (see F4 #574 letters page) as she convinces Namor to let go of his obsession with her mother, through fists or words, leading Namor to renounce Susan permanently like how TFP Megatron renounced tyranny I don't want Namor to be friends with Valeria and the rest of the F4, as he is a villain, and has a very complicated and terrible history with Susan and Reed. P.S: Agreed, we need MORE ReedSue centric issues like issue #2 and #17
@@kayaanbedi5554 he won’t end it because that’s comics. I think it would be very problematic if Valeria ends up liking him by the end of that issue. Personally I’d like an issue exploring Reeds emotions about it all because he’s not a robot and it’s been shown that it hurts him. I think Val will learn that Sue isn’t perfect. She never cheated but we’ve all seen all the stuff from the Byrne/De Falco/ Claremont’s era. Writers lean into it being a result of Reeds detachment. With the acceptance of Reeds autism by writers it all retrospectively shades Sue in a very bad light. It puts Namor( and T’challa if you read that issue) in this ableist position that kings are better/ more beautiful than everyone else. So no wonder Sue would fall/lust for them. And we’ve never seen her have her council of reeds moment where she acknowledges her faults. We never see her lust for her husband the man she loves. It devalues Reed. It tells the reader that hey you can try as Hickman stated to be a better man, a better husband, friend or father but guess what due to your internal struggles to communicate you’ll never be sexy. You’ll be blamed. You’ll be ridiculed. You’ll be weird. Personally the namor relationship is based on bdsm power fantasies not being compatible with love and marriage. This is Byrnes fault. I want a writer to fix this and have Sue and Reed be weird. To be kinky together. Make Reed Sexy!!😂

@matthewfarrelly9719 She did lust in married sex like way for Reed in the Waid run, some parts of North's F4 run. Also Susan is a sigma wife as she never took advantage of Reed like how Crystal took advantage of Pietro and cheated on him with a random pedestrian
idk. To have someone who is not an expert of F4 it shows… every issue can be taken and removed from the whole story and nothing changes. Some stories are emotionally interesting but there is no impact on the main storyline. Sue has zero development until now. Most of the stories are focused on Johnny. The characters never find themselves in situations where they have to really fight for their lives. There is no pathos in my opinion. I really enjoyed Dan Slott’s run, there was a sense of a bigger story under the surface. This run is like a 90 tv series. Which could be fun sometimes but after 25 issues is just boring…
Let's be honest, overall the run is just average. Individual issues stories some work better then others but nothing groundbreaking. I did enjoy the dinosaur world though. But get rid of that mustache from Johnnys face

I totally agree, some individual issues work but we need a main storyline. And more difficulties for the team. Every problem is solved quickly and easily by some invention by Reed. I like Buffy and Star Trek but that doesn’t mean I want F4 to be like those 90s shown 😅
