  • You can't buy my homemade slider but you can make one based on my one you see here. You can also buy the same slider as I use which is the Rhino Slider Bundle: amzn.to/2QjsV1A
If you're getting into filmmaking or are already making your own videos and are thinking of getting an expensive electronic motorised slider, it's a good idea to watch this video. When I bought the Rhino Slider with the motor, I assumed that I'd not use my old trusty homemade slider again but I was wrong. The electronic slider is awesome for a lot of stuff including time lapses, fine close up shots, shots with movement when you're on your own and want 2 cameras in operation with added movement, i.e. interviews.
The old home made slider is great for quick shots, shots where you can just mount your tripod onto it and shots where you want to do manual focus pulls which might interfere with the movement of the motorised slider.
If you're filming fictional movies the home made option will be great and probably as handy as the expensive option but if you're a commercial videographer shooting corporate stuff you should seriously consider the motorised slider.
Let me know what you think! And feel free to sub, comment and thumbs up!! :)

This is my first time in youtube that I see a video without any dislike! I might think the reason that because all of the audience are professional and no more stupid people. In addition to your great job!

Thanks for the video Hugh! I've been debating this lately and I think for budget reasons I am going to try a DIY one like yours first! I usually work alone so hauling it out might be interesting, but my wallet will thank me in the end. I can always upgrade later on down the line! Thanks again for the great video!

Yeah, for general filmmaking having a trustworthy manual old school slider is great. The electronic slider is fantastic but it's down the list in what I'd call essentials.

My friend gave me his homemade camera slider before he left for Iceland, all I need is pipes!

Get them is 10' lengths and you can cut them to 7' and 3' and have options for travel!

Everybody loves a slick motorised slider shot but don't throw out that old home made slider dolly just yet!

I meaaaannnn... You could just call it pvc pipe and not waste pipe... There, now it is just as professional sounding.

It's specifically waste pipe though, i.e. takes the waste from sinks and drains. PVC pipe could be anything.
