Ik this was 2 years ago but this so far is the BEST looking and quality sailor moon costume it looks tightly, and flattering which gives it a expensive look
Do you think a satin bedsheet would work? I want the slightly shiny look but I don't have the money to pay for a higher quality satin that has more weight. So if I did this skirt pattern twice, once on a satin bedsheet and then again on some tulle and put the two pieces together do you think the satin bed sheet would hold the deep pleats, and do you think the tulle and the satin would be to bulky?
Hi I know this is from literal years ago but I can’t find the vid where you made the skirt pattern! If you could help with that I would greatly appreciate it! :)
Hello! I actually just went ahead and uploaded the skirt patterns to my Etsy shop as it was easier to just offer that for everyone. But more or less, it is just a quarter circle, where the inner waistline is either 2.3 or 3.5 x the waist of the wearer. I forget now what the formula was exactly, but something like that!
Joce same :/ I'm just going to watch another DIY or try to make the pattern myself. I mean, this skirt is absolutely awesome but the tutorials are not complete :(
Hi :3 I bought your magical skirt pattern and I think it has a very nice quality! :) Anyway, could you tell me how many centimeters is one box pleat, please?
micaela chive I’m using matte satin for the skirt! The videos are unfortunately unable to be finished since my computer is too old to edit video. So I will have to wait until I get a new computer 😭
I used a medium weight matte satin. If it doesn’t flare out, bridal weight satins have a bit more body, or you could be sneaky and handsew some tulle at the sides of the skirt so that I helps give it some flare. That’s what I’ve seen other fuku designers do, anyways! Haven’t tried it yet myself
For pleating I've seen two different ways. I'm hoping you can explain? In some pictures there is no middle pleat. The v of the waistband meets in between two. And then in some the v is in the middle of a front center pleat. Is this just preference??
nutbolts yo it’s really up to each individual person how they pleat. I based my look on the classic anime, so I have one centered outward pleat in the front rather than an inward box pleat
Aya Dervis for this Saturn skirt here I used Peau de Soie matte Satin although I didn't like it very much compared to the Casa Satin Liberty purple from the Casa spring 2017 collection, so that's what I ended up remaking my skirt in, and made two other commissions in. The peau de soie is hit or miss- my Venus and Jupiter are made of it, and Jupiter's was great, but Venus's came out a bit shinier and stiffer than I would've liked D: but in general, different brands of matte Satin is what I aim to use
It may vary for each person but I do one box pleat on the front, and three knife pleats on each side of that, and then I do the same for the back half!
Sorry for the delayed response, sometimes I don't get the notifications for comments (TH-cam is silly that way). To answer your question, my computer is on its last leg and won't let me edit anymore videos. I'm still saving up for a new computer so that I can get back to finishing the tutorials!
You are obviously very talented! Thank you for your helpful tutorials :) Just wondering if it would be at all possible to put the pattern measurements in the video description? It’s just tricky to follow without the pattern, so would really appreciate it if it’s at all possible! :)
If you still have any questions, feel free to email me! TH-cam doesn't always show me all of the comment notifications, so email is the most reliable way to get in contact with me!
I am confused by the skirt pattern. I understand that it needs to be a complete circle but should you place the side edge there is a seam allowance. Should you place the dotted line or the solid line on the fold? It will make a difference of 1" in the skirt circumference. Also when will you give instructions for the top roll of the skirt? Looks like a fun adventure, and I am very excited by your clear videos. Last question-do you only sew 2 snaps on the bow for the collar?
Not trying to criticize, but why can’t you just make a pleated skirt for it to be easier? Why cut out a circle skirt and pleat it that way? Just curious
What Neo Cyber says is true! The circle skirt helps to flare the pleats out and maintain depth and fullness all the way down. I have done non-circular pleated skirts before and they are nowhere near as full. You certainly *can* do a rectangular pleated skirt, but it will hang straight down instead of flaring out. And one might say "well why not make the pleats fuller by making the rectangle longer?" - you can *also* do this, however, it will add a LOT of bulk to the waistband. So the circle skirt both maintains fullness at the waist so it's not too bulky, while also offering a MUCH larger sweep on the bottom hem. Hope that helps explain some! :3
DIANA SANABRIA Sadly my computer is broken, but I am saving for a new one! When I am able to edit video again, more videos will be posted as soon as they are completed!
Thanks for answer Momo, I 'm sorry and I really hope that you able get a new computer soon. I wait your videos.Greetings from Colombia, excuse my English.

Hi :3 I bought your magical skirt pattern and I think it has a very nice quality! :) Anyway, could you tell me how many centimeters is one box pleat, please?
This is just a full circle skirt with double the radius right?
People do it in different ways, but the pattern I created is either 2.3 or 3.5 x the waist, I can’t recall off the top of my head, heheh.
Thank you so much for this tutorial ;A; I was dying of battling my patterns until I saw this. Thanks a lot ♥️

What fabric is this? I’m trying to do this skirt but it’s not flare on the sides :(

What's up Momo! Great tutorial even though I can use it for myself it was still really interesting to watch =).

What sewing machine do you use?

Where do I buy your pattern ? I can't see it on your Etsy :(
beautiful skirt!!!!
I have a question how do you do the bottom part so the material doesn’t come apart?
Alejandra Vega I serged mine, but doing a rolled hem works too!

Just wondering, is it a basic circle skirt pattern with the waist measurement multiplied by something like 3 or 4, to account for the pleats?
hi! what material is this? thank u!
good job congratulations.♥️
Have you posted the skirt pattern yet?
