Motobécane stood as one of France's leading bicycle manufacturers, operating under this name from 1923 until 1984. Following this, it transitioned into a division of Yamaha, continuing bicycle production in France under the brand name MBK.
An exemplary specimen of MBK's innovation from the 1990s is the MBK Trainer Classic Road Bicycle. Notable features include a slightly shortened rear triangle with aerodynamically shaped seat stays and a concealed seatpost clamping mechanism integrated into the top tube's 'tail'. The top and down tubes are flattened towards the rear, enhancing the frame's stability.
The popularity of TIG welding in the 1990s facilitated the creation of unconventional frame designs like these. Additionally, bi-colored paint schemes in vibrant hues were all the rage, with Klein being perhaps the most renowned for such finishes. However, MBK demonstrates its prowess with this neon pink and purple masterpiece.

Had a Mirage, the model up from this in a green and violet faded finish, brand new back 1993 and now have two, one being my main Road Bike which is flouro yellow and orange upgraded to 10 speed Ultegra and a stages power meter, the other waiting until my son grows up because its a size too big for me but the same colours as my first.
A lovely bike with some pedigree - the frameset was ridden by Lotto Superclub and Charzal in the early ninties carrying Johan Museeuw for the tour de france.
A nice sympathetic renovation which will serve someone well for years to come. Top marks!
Seeing the original Michelin tyre and the replacement hutchinson took me right back, that's how mine was the day it was stolen!
