- We visit Josh Cook and his goodeid and wild type livebearer fishroom. This fish room is all about breading and sustaining some of the most endangered goodeids and liveberers in the world. Most of these fish are from Central America and specifically Mexico. Hang in there for the entire video because we get a good look at some rarely seen fish.

Fantastic collection. Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching.
Awesome
I need to get air conditioning in my fishroom to be able to keep Goodeids in my fishroom.
For sure! Mine gets too hot in the summer here as well.
My house is 100 years old I have 3 window units that cool the entire home. In the basement I use two box fans to move air and on the middle of the gladiator rack I aim a small fan across the top of those as they house the chracadons. Those will die after 76 ish degrees. So I utilize evaporative cooling on those. I do not have central air but I do have central heat and in the summer I utilize the fan function on the furnace to move cool air around effectively
I would love to raise some of those
Agreed! There are some awesome fish in Josh’s collection.
Such an amazing fish room, I absolutely love these long in-depth fish room tours. But I’m curious, unfortunately these goodieds aren’t something most fish keepers are looking for so what does he do with all the fish he breeds? Does he have enough ppl/wholesalers he sells to?
Thank you so much for watching. I’ll have Josh chime in on this one.
I definitely don’t sell to wholesalers. I do take some of the more prolific ones to my local auctions and clubs to try to entice others to keep them. Lots of times though with most fish having very small birth rates I’m not producing an enormous amount of fish. Just enough to keep a friend or other enthusiast supplied.
My third time watching your video, and I probably will watch it three more, just saying. Where in the world did you get your filter boxes? Greg Sage has hundreds like that, maybe more. But I can't find any! I love this video, and want to get Skiffia (haven't yet). Now, I could be very wrong, but, I think there are six different types of Skiffia and one undesecibed and two different Skiffia Multipunctata, I think! Maybe there are more! I live in Columbus. I also found you, Josh, on Face Book.
Wow, thank you so much. I’m sure Josh will get in touch. Appreciate you watching.
Would love to chat!
I'd love to get the characodon species. I keep losing out on aquabid when I see them. Same goes for skiifa. They are expensive fish
Great! Are you local to Ohio?
@@thebiotopes I'm in Iowa unfortunately
@@Addi-- I’ll let Josh know.
@@thebiotopes Much appreciated!
What is the shrimp extinct in the wild
Not sure what you mean? Did we say shrimp? I do know Josh has some fish that are extinct.
@@thebiotopes I thought u guys mentioned having a shrimp that's extinct in the wild that only 7 other people in the states have maybe I misheard
I have a collection point of chracadon that is considered extinct and has become a major focus point in the goodeid working group I’m having those of us with them to work with them more.
Hey!
Josh , for a second I was sure that was Mikey Tuttle from OCC 🛴
Haha
