Knowing the mistakes F1 made in the 1980's, that are being repeated now, I don't think F1 should even go to the car park in Miami or Las Vegas. Nigel Mansell (who is well placed to say this) said that Mid-Ohio is a track as great for driving and racing as Spa. That is high praise, certainly compared to ill-conceived money grabs that pretend to be race tracks
They're not car parks though. Sure, it was way back when, but these races should actually be pretty exciting to watch and fun venues. I'm waiting to formulate my final opinion until after the races are over

@@mbbb9244 I hope you’ll be boycotting the other Middle East races as well as the American, Mexican and British races. Australia and Canada must be right on the fence too, huh?
I don't think we will ever get rid of Monaco. So much history, half of the grid lives there, and we have Charles now... Personally, I am not really a big fan of Silvertone, but I can't imagine a season without it. Suzuka is one of my favorite tracks, Canada, and Singapore as well. I miss India. And Interlagos should be the last race! As a Seb fan 2012 still gives me chills.
All the tracks the core F1 fans like will stay. And by core fans, I mean the ultra rich that go to races to show their wealth. This means that America will get more races, that Monaco will stay and that the Middle East will be booming. Because that's where the people with money are, or rather, the people F1 sees as their core fans. It's evident when you watch the races. There are needless camera zooms on random celebs, celebs get invited to the paddock for no reason, and the F1 parties are all but inaccesible to the public. F1 is and has always been a party for the rich, we're merely allowed to watch it from a distance.
Shanghai is really underrated. The 2016 race had the most overtakes of any race in history. The one where Kvyat hit Vettel and Kimi at Turn 1 and Rosberg won.
For me, the top 3 iconic tracks are Spa, Silverstone and Monza. Nice piece… you should make a piece on tracks that should make a F1 return just to be complete. I bet Sepang will be one of the top tracks.
Monaco can go straight in the bin, then the bin can be put in a box, then the box taped shut, then put on a wagon, wagon should drive to edge of a cliff, box should be then thrown off cliff, when box lands it should be set on fire at the bottom of the cliff, then dynamite the cliff to cause a rock slide. Only then would Monaco be good.
Monaco, I always hated that track because you know who wins the race on Saturday not Sunday. You can easily go with watching highlights of the race and you won't miss a thing. Crashes and mechanical problems are the only thing that change the outcome of Qualy. I know is a difficult track and that all the heritage and history but it's just boring unless you are there in the parties and stuff.
Think of it as a time trial stage in Le Tour de France. Let’s be honest, Monaco Qualification is on another level from the rest of the calendar. As a matter of fact, they could remove the Sunday race and I would still love Monaco.
I remember a couple of years ago (last time I actually watched some of the race), most of the overtaking attempts that were made, was at the Nouvelle chicane, and most of them were Verstappen dive-bombing. The track is just WAY too narrow for modern F1 cars.
Monaco and Spa have to stay because F1 understands how important the tracks are. They still race on them even though both of them don't actually qualify as possible tracks F1 can race on. They broke the rules for these 2 because they understood how important they are, so why would they get of something they are trying so hard to keep.
Yes, I think a portion of the votes were motivated by that. The Shanghai circuit is not spectacular but it's good enough to warrant a place in the calendar.
I think it’s less about public perception of the racing and more about the country. Specifically that a missile landed within sight of the track. Obviously people don’t want drivers getting hurt.
@@flyfyrestreams6341 I agree, if we can look away from the controversy for a sec: It has actually had really great racing. The only thing needed is more space for safety. They dont even have to change the racing line, just the walls

Once Qatar was revealed as one of the Worst according to fans, despite the track not being unveiled yet shows that the hate does not come from the track layout or excitement itself but on its location alone. China, Saudi, UAE are some of the most perplexing locations out there, so no wonder why the hate there. But if people are just being objective about it, Jeddah is not that bad in terms of track, and Yas Marina quite improved with its new layout. And of course, Shanghai is also a nice track which provides plenty of action. And if we were only talking about track layout which provides great action, Monaco should be gone.
Jeddah is hated mainly becuase it's one of the most unsafe tracks of them all. Also missiles exploding near the track might make people dislike it even more
Yas Marina would be so boring if it wasn’t the last race of the season. Saudi is just unsafe and isn’t that interesting. Qatar is probably based on the track we raced at last year which was sooo boring so understandable people want it gone. Also, I don’t understand the problem with not wanting to race in countries that don’t even provide basic human rights?
@@yiannis312 The missiles and the danger of the track are concerning but even if those were not there people will still hate the track cause of how europeans and americans think that the way they run their countries is the best way even if it is why shouldn't a young saudi boy not be able to watch his favourite drivers race in his country
Monaco, 75% want it to stay?? Every time I see the argument online it looks like it’s going against having it. Don’t get me wrong, the event itself is spectacular and the hype around it is awesome, but the race itself is bloody snooze fest 😅😅
Because the Saturday would decide the win. The last time it does not decide the win was on 2017 where Seb despite start second but good undercut allow him to win
I personally love Abu Dhabi and think Monza is the greatest track ever raced on. I have also really liked the two races we’ve had at Jeddah and am really pumped for Australia this coming weekend.
exactly, that is a really good track but people always bring in politics and their views instead of thinking about the sport, Jeddah is dangerous but it is also such an entertaining track, we only had 2 races but already I say its absolutely amazing
@@Questary Ignoring politics. I think driver safety is a problem, on and off track. I don't think you can justify racing in a place with missle strikes
2 parts to this comment: 1. There sbould be a list of what circuits F1 fans want back on the calendar *cough* Malaysia 2. I like the variety of the calendar. We have a wide range of versions of cjrcuits, from 3 km Monaco to 7 km Spa. A 23 race calendar must have a variety as wide as that. So Monaco and Spa stay forever. On a side note: I live in Abu Dhabi. I've always been a fan since way before they first raced here. However I would love if it stayed for a very long time because in the 13 years f1 raced here F1 has gained a lot of fans who had no idea what F1 is before racing started here back in 2009. It was a slow process but now practically the whole country wants to go to a race. I definitely agree it shouldn't be the last race of the season. That belongs to either Brazil or Suzuka. Thank you for reading my opinion which will probably not matter to anyone 🙃
I really like Jeddah. If you hate it cuz it's dangerous they could make it safer by removing the sausages kerbs and widening the blind corners a bit. Other than that, it's thrilling as fuck
@@JoeCheetham5 exactly, the only downside is that yes it is super dangerous but if they do those 2 things I said, it could make the track so much safer and keep the same amount of thrillingness to it
I have to say, Paul Ricard was AMAZING when the cars could follow last year. So if the car can follow now with the new regulations… Paul Ricard might actually start to consistently be a banger.
While it should never be removed, it should had a track change to improved safety. It is one of the track record a very poor safety like Magnussen incident at 2016, Norris incident at 2021 but most pain it is the fatal incident for Anthonie Hubert at F2 2019
I despise almost all of them. The only one I like is the Austria GP in Spielberg (or the Styrian GP). I don't need more than one race per year hear. The track is just not too exciting to me. And I would be interested the entire results, too.

Silverstone, Spa, Monaco, Monza. They have been there since the beginning of this sport, they are it's roots, so I believe that no matter how bad racing they may provide they should all be kept no matter what.
Monaco can go for all I care, if someone can win that race after loosing 40% power (because of a faulty MGU-H) after the pitstop it's not a race. Don't get me wrong quali is an absolute thrill to watch, but the race is pretty much a precession. the other races I do agree should stay

I like Saudi GP is designed its action packed with all the tight corners. I am amazed people did not hate on Monaco as its the most boring and lifeless track of all time.
Monoco was the main reason I didn't get into F1 earlier. I find it insanely boring and unless the driver on pole chokes the race is decided before it starts. Every other track is more entertaining
@@muhmonsta what are you on about. this circuit has all the charecteristics to be much worse than both those circuits with the lack of run off everywhere and awful field of vision everywhere and much higher speed everywhere.
As a Brazilian, I absolutely loved the fact that y'all F1 fans love our circuit too. IMHO, Interlagos is in the pantheon of legendary F1 tracks, alongside Monza, Spa, Silverstone and Monaco. Old Hockenheim also deserves a place.
As a native of south Florida who lives fairly near the Hard Rock Stadium, it's depressing yet fair that Miami gets hated... hopefully next year it takes better advantage of its second chance (starting with improving with that Turn 14-16 chicane). Hopefully it's only replacing Russia and not well-worthy tracks such as Spa-Francorchamps!
I love the Jeddah circuit. It displays the speed of the cars well. The first drs zone does create problems and is pretty much useless. The racing it gives doesn't suck though.
Eau rogue/Radion at Spa has been one of the most dangerous corners in f1 for decades but no one bats an eye because it's a great spectacle. Seb stopping to make sure lando wasnt dead last season should give you an idea of what the drivers think of this section..But Jeddah is TOO DANGEROUS. I think given a little more time they will continue to move the walls back at key points in the Jeddah circuit...The thing was only completed what 6 months ago? The 2 races f1 had there were both great to watch. Politics are a whole other beast that might doom this track however.
@@Scaredporkzz im saying like, if you completely disregarded the safety concerns its an amazing track with the new cars. but the safety makes it a place not suitable for these speeds
@@Scaredporkzz I agree with you on Radillon, that corner is a major safety concern. If they evened it out a bit, it wouldn't upset the suspension as much. I still have K-mags crash in '16 and Anthoine Hubert's fatal crash in '19 very much on my mind. 3 drivers have died in that corne since '08.
I really like mugello and it’s so underrated because I feel like everyone only thought about the 3 crashes that race when we had good racing other than those crashes like albon’s overtake on ricciardo at San donato corner so really, we all just think about the crashes when we had some good racing in the race too
Controversial opinion, Monaco sucks. It's pretty much only qualifying and then a procession of a race. Unless they change the track, it does not fit with modern F1.
Maybe not in the same order from 3rd to 6th, but I completely agree with the 6 favorite tracks. So much, I believe that the F1 rulebook should contain a ruling over failing to extend their contracts: Unless there's a good reason (like COVID), whoever is responsible for letting those tracks drop from the calendar must be fired, maybe even adding a "tar and feather" clause.
My TOP6 is Spa, Azerbaidzhan, Jedda, Texas, Monza and Silverstone. Those tracks has always good racing. My Bottom6 is Monaco, Hungary, Paul Richard, Qatar, Bahrain, Abu Dabhi.
Monaco just frees up a Sunday. You can watch the first 3 laps, go do something else and come back for the last 3 laps with no major changes in the order of cars having occurred. (Unless someone DNFs or fucks up a Pit Stop). The most exciting day of Monaco GP weekend is Saturday.. because of Qualifying. The race itself is just boring af.
i'd honestly swap shanghai and monaco's positions with eachother on this list. monaco is just not suited for F1 anymore and chang hai is just awsome. other than that i'd completly agree with this list.
Monaco has the rare distinction for an F1 circuit that you can see roughly half the circuit from one spot (up the hill on the south side of the harbour), although that has reduced slightly since the new yacht club was built obscuring the tunnel exit.
Unpopular opinion: History alone should never be a reason to keep a track in the calendar. Silverstone and Monaco do not provide good racing and I would probably be happy if they would be dropped from F1.
@@KitKitChanIsaac Good racing in the first lap only doesn't make up for the 51 laps after that where the racing was garbage. Good racing also depends on the overtaking action after the first gaps formed in the first few laps and Silverstone does not provide any action after that...
Totally agree with this, yes there is the glamour and the tradition that surrounds it but in all honesty it’s an absolutely dreadful race circuit that never fails to produce terrible races. The other traditional tracks in the “keep” category are all fast circuits that more years than not deliver great racing.

I would get rid of Monaco right this second; no questions. I wouldn't even vote on it. It's a horrific circuit for modern racing. If we're going to keep things because they're historic, maybe we should bring back the plague, or other terrible things. "Was good", is not "still good". "Thrilling qualifying", is not "great for the championship battle". The sport should not make exceptions for Monaco; it should just get rid of it.
Monaco needs to go... it's not a race... it's a high-speed conga line... It's a rubbish track... and it doesn't technically meet the FIA regulations as an F1 track, since it is too short if I remember correctly... the ONLY reason people like it is because it usually offers up some spectacular crashes. Nah... Monaco needs to be binned
Shanghai is a brilliant mix of corners and long enough straights that promote overtaking. Quite a lovely track Catalunya is going to be a better race with the new changes, plus the tarmac of the track has also produced exciting strategies.

Unpopular opinion: Monaco sucks. Why? The "race" is basically just decided at qualifying. Virtually 0 overtake potential and position swapping from qualifying unless someone DNF's their car. Not to mention they dont pay their dues to the FIA like all other tracks are forced to. For some reason Monaco gets a massive fee discount despite its race being crap. I get its the high rollers glamorous event but as far as F1 goes its one of the most boring races come race day imo
When I saw this video, I started getting anxious about Interlagos. Even though it is well loved, sometimes feels like some people are quite vocal about not liking it. That said, sure I thought the track wouldn't show up in the hated tracks section, but I also had low expectations. I am glad people love it so much, even if things are looking a bit bleak (seeing the debate about removing a track from the calendar because of Las Vegas' addition and talks about Interlagos being a candidate for that sank my heart).
Anyone else see this video title and just immediately think "Let me guess, a majority of the worse tracks will be Tilke (father or son) designed." Wasn't shocked at the results.

@@soundscape26 I think Zadvoort is more fun, and challenging for the drivers than us. But time will tell.

1. Spa, Belgium
2. Interlagos, Brazil

I thought that Road America was in Wisconsin. Is there a different one?
They're not car parks though. Sure, it was way back when, but these races should actually be pretty exciting to watch and fun venues. I'm waiting to formulate my final opinion until after the races are over

If half of the grid lived in my apartment there wouldn't be a race around it, would it now?

Shanghai is really underrated. The 2016 race had the most overtakes of any race in history. The one where Kvyat hit Vettel and Kimi at Turn 1 and Rosberg won.
"You came in like a torpedo!"
It did until the 2023 GP of Zandvoort which now hold the record of overtakes.
For me, the top 3 iconic tracks are Spa, Silverstone and Monza.

I bet Sepang will be one of the top tracks.
Silverstone meh...spa,Suzuka,Brazil,monza
@@adr23 Spa, Monza, Monaco imo
The issue with Silverstone is that it was mangled in the most recent layout change, it used to be a great track.
@@hasnulhafizi987 Monaco🙃🙃
Silverstone is definitely not iconic.
But will it improved overtake skill?
If it not and if riders hate that idea, Monaco could be out from the calendar
Agree Spa should be in the sport for as long as it exists
That hasn't worked for at least the last 3 races there, just sayin'...
Sepang should be added back to the calendar
Monaco and Spa have to stay because F1 understands how important the tracks are. They still race on them even though both of them don't actually qualify as possible tracks F1 can race on. They broke the rules for these 2 because they understood how important they are, so why would they get of something they are trying so hard to keep.
These two along with Monza and Silverstone were there at the beginning, they should stay.
I'd replace Spa with Laguna Seca.
I have a feeling the Shanghai thing is less of a comment on the track and more on it's location.
Possibly. The original one was bad. It did improve but not enough to make it exciting though
I wonder if it's just people still thinking of the Singapore sling 😂
@@mrkillerspartan1 that's a completely different track in a completely different country

THEY DID IT. THEY REMOVED THE LAST CHICANE.
Yes we had 2 breathtaking close races in Jeddah but its should go instead of Monaco

1. There sbould be a list of what circuits F1 fans want back on the calendar *cough* Malaysia
