Ottoman Imperial Anthem (1839 - 1861) - Mecidiye Marşı

  • Mecidiye Marşı (March of Abdulmecid) was the national and imperial anthem of the Ottoman Empire during the reign of Abdülmecid I. The Mecidiye Marşı is often confused for the Grande Marche du Medjidie by Italian composer Giuseppe Donizetti, a separate and different music piece composed for Sultan Abdulmecid, but which was never used as an anthem by the Empire.

if I say the monarchy system lacks democracy so the monarchy is outdated for a country the monarchy system is not effective because the king can become a dictator at any time For example, the constitutional monarchy system here, if the constitutional monarchy explains that the king is only a symbol of the head of state Meanwhile, the parliament that regulates the laws and administration is assisted by the prime minister The prime minister is elected by members of parliament, not by the people, so it's not democratic.

Fun fact ottomans had both monarchy and democratic system..
Yes they also had an ottoman parliament founded in mid 1800s. Consisting of 100 seats..
It was clear that the Ottomans were turning into a More modernized and democratic monarchy + Caliphate..

This anthem actually DOES sound similar to the Galactic Empire. I could see John Williams taking inspiration from Donizetti, who wrote both this music and Grande Marche du Mejidie, since he is known for taking inspiration from Copland, Wagner, and Beethoven. However, Mecidiye Marsi, despite sounding so great, does not scream Darth Vader or the Galactic Empire like the Imperial March. Still phenomenal music, but I prefer the Imperial March to this one. Sometimes, the anthems of fictional entities are sometimes better than those that are real, and the Imperial March fits that description.

@@sinanroyal5359 nice to see another monarchist, the succession line is a bit hard to pin down, and I'd say many lineages have a solid claim to the country, but some notable ones would be the descendants of an emir called abdelkader, the leader of the Algerian resistance against the french invasion, he's the most major figure in recent algerian history which was a monarch, though his descendants are spread all over since he was forced into exile
another candidate would actually be the ottomans themselves, the country has a lot of influence from their culture and they shaped alot of it's history, though there is no real monarchist movement here, still not that far of a stretch since the neighbouring Morocco is among the only countries remaining where the king actually holds significant power
On the military clique, it's power has been significantly weakened for the past few years, since it was forced to act in 2019 to remove a puppet dictator who was increasingly becoming less useful to it and despised by the general populace, that caused chaos among the shadow government and eventually almost all officials were in prison or resigned, that brought a relatively good governing reactionary into power, there is still definitely a lot of corruption going on in the lower levels of government, but I'd say most people in the upper command chain are doing the country well for now

I know Abdulkader. He is a legend. He was known for treating french prisoners and people of different faith very good. His decendant would make a fine king for Algeria. InshaAllah would bring the return of the king not only peace to Algeria, but also peace between Morocco and Algeria. Brothers should not fight each other.
