All I see now as I drive through Desoto.. Vape Shop, Vape Shop, oh 3 to 4 Churches on the same road. Gas station, Gas station, and more Vape shops. No fine dining areas to eat only fast food places. No healthy choices far as foods. This development going to take a long time. It’s also, the mindset of the people that might make this take even longer…

You forgot barber shops, salons, and old abandoned shops/buildings. Im a skeptic having heard these improvement plans before and being in the city since 1990's. Accountability has been lacking in Desoto for too long. The city has actually made some improvements over the last year and i think 2023 will be more of a visual change in the progress. The Hampton Road Project (parkerville to wintergreen), Natatorium, SW corner of Beltline/Hampton will be developed shopping and dining options, more residential development, and upgrades to parks. I think the city is heading in the right direction, but there is still alot to do. I feel more hopeful now more than ever with the current administration Desoto has in office, but public safety needs should be addressed. City Manager Brandon Wright & Mayor Rachael Proctor should not be so politically correct and Matt Smith needs to be more transparent about problems in the city. It feels disingenuous. It feels like deception. But hey, that's part of protecting the image of the city right? How else is Desoto going to get those money making contracts?
