The Chinese had to plan this mission in stages because the moon is locked in a geostationary orbit, so this rover is out of satellite link all the time from China. They first had to establish a satellite to orbit the moon, and this is how the Mission control and the rover speak. Regarding the USA's interest, up until Obama passed a law that went against the International consensus that you couldn't not privately own space, and that anything gathered on a mission was open to the whole world to use, there was no interest in the moon. Shielded by the moon and by distance there would be little or no interference from radio signals emenating from here on Earth. There might be the odd bit of interference from satellites at L2 or from various deep-space probes. Getting data back to Earth would require communication via lunastationary (if that is even possible - EDIT: apparently not possible, no such stable orbits exist) satellite in constant view of both the radio telescope and the earth, or via satellites at L4 and/or L5.

It doesn't happens that way all the time, it depends on the position of all three bodies, sun, earth and moon.

Almost all of the surface of the moon received equal amount of sunlight so it's inappropriate to say that the other side is the dark side. It just happened that the moon we see is fixed facing to us as it revolved the earth and so the other half that is not seen to us is the far side.

You can use multiple mirrors to see your back side in a mirror. A similar concept is used for seeing the back side of the moon. They use multiple spacecraft to relay the radio signals.
When they show the photo from behind the moon, the Earth is massive in comparison to it. So being on the moon you should have a fantastic view of the Earth. But somehow when you're on the moon and take a photo of earth it comes out small and puny? It's illogical. You have to do some serious mental gymnastics to ignore this basic geometry flaw.

The far side of the moon is a great place to set up a radio telescope to listen to space. Shielded by the moon and by distance there would be little or no interference from radio signals emenating from here on Earth. There might be the odd bit of interference from satellites at L2 or from various deep-space probes. Getting data back to Earth would require communication via lunastationary (if that is even possible - EDIT: apparently not possible, no such stable orbits exist) satellite in constant view of both the radio telescope and the earth, or via satellites at L4 and/or L5.
About two months ago I would have no idea what you meant by L2 L4 or L5 but Elite Dangerous, the game, introduced Lagrange clouds to its galaxy engine so now i know haha.

I would disagree the far side has more impact craters than the near side recrystallizing the lunar rock anorthosite into basalt..the dark patches are probably basaltic craters and the white are anorthositic.

Going by the narrative, NASA has a short memory. Years ago on an American television show, a well respected documentary show did an episode in which they showed a number of American [NASA] and Russian launches to the SAME area on the far side of the Moon. Back in the day when the summers had repeat programming on television, it was one of few episodes that was not repeated.
The depiction of the moon's orbit failed to demonstrate that the sun is the main source of light standing in the center and not earth. Planets reflect light, that's why we can see them as stars, but even when we see the moon during daylight, it's because of the sunlight shining on it, not earth's reflection of light and during that time, the moon can't be seen on the other half during night time and it is then called new moon night. It doesn't happens that way all the time, it depends on the position of all three bodies, sun, earth and moon.

Almost all of the surface of the moon received equal amount of sunlight so it's inappropriate to say that the other side is the dark side. It just happened that the moon we see is fixed facing to us as it revolved the earth and so the other half that is not seen to us is the far side.

You can use multiple mirrors to see your back side in a mirror. A similar concept is used for seeing the back side of the moon. They use multiple spacecraft to relay the radio signals.

When they show the photo from behind the moon, the Earth is massive in comparison to it. So being on the moon you should have a fantastic view of the Earth. But somehow when you're on the moon and take a photo of earth it comes out small and puny? It's illogical. You have to do some serious mental gymnastics to ignore this basic geometry flaw.
