  • Side-by-side comparison of the top two BTTF DeLorean models: the Hot Toys 1/6 scale DeLorean Time Machine and the Eaglemoss 1/8 scale "Build the DeLorean" Back to the Future DTM.
    Note: Eaglemoss went out of business so I don't have a link on how to buy but ebay is always a solution!
    The Mark 2 Hover mode Hot Toys DeLorean 1:6 scale is shipping soon and we'll do a comparison of all three side-by side when that is in! (you can get it from Sideshow).

    For those who are wondering how to continue your Eaglemoss DeLorean sub after they went bankrupt, apparently a new Company, IXO Models, has acquired the Eaglemoss parts inventory and will be offering it for sale soon. The info comes from @Eaglemodz in this video: th-cam.com/video/aIiC4eQs7us/w-d-xo.html

    One other thing about the eaglemoss version is that it’s detailed in the sense involving the design of the dmc 12. There’s a radiator with turning fan blades, an actual suspension, shocks struts, also the engine that has cooling pipes connected to the radiator, and the chassis is molded after the real life car. The first year or so of the assembly involves the under chassis, but it’s even got a spare tire in the trunk. And it can even be modified with carpet. The 1:6 does look nice but the eaglemoss as far as detail and design go , I think is better.

    the biggest difference for me is the Giugiaro design. Eaglemoss clearly went to painstaking lengths to preserve the integrity of the design angles. you can tell from the video that Hot Toys really skipped over this. to me, that's the most beautiful part of a delorean - the angles!

    Eaglemoss is the best. For the Hot Toys version, it's still good but there are some hit or miss there, like there's not enough wiring in the interior and the wiring is a little bit darker...

    Interestingly when I had my fascias repainted by a shop, the paint code information from Houston turned out to color them with a little grey, bronze hew to them. Maybe I’m wrong if that was their intended color, I don’t know.

      It's possible they consulted with DMC for a lot of the car (in fact pretty sure they had to), hence the slight bronze hue in certain lightning

    I was looking for this comparison and ended up checking out your other videos. Cool stuff. Love the Delorean.
    As far as these two models, the Hot Toys has a better overall look with the correct stainless color and slight weathering application but Eaglemoss wins with materials and minute details. I was contemplating starting an Eaglemoss subscription last year and I'm glad I didn't though now with Fanhome taking over, maybe it's worth checking into again.
    Do you plan on buying the upcoming BTTFII Hot Toys and doing a similar comparison? If it improves upon the first one, I may just get that instead of investing into the Eaglemoss.

    I’ve been looking for people that have the Eagle Moss and also a mark one I or two ht to compare. I just got a mark two and I’m not overly pleased with it, primarily because it’s my first sixth scale vehicle and to be honest bigger isn’t always better lol. I think it’s a bit too cumbersome and I don’t really have a suitable place to display it. For the price I feel it’s a little fragile and wish it had metal components. I’ve seen the different modifications for the eagle moss, including more accurate lighting, and it being a little easier to display I was definitely intrigued. Your video does bring up a good point though about the finish. I didn’t really notice that it had a bronze tinge to it until you compared it directly to the hot toys version. In all of the other videos and images I’ve seen, the finish of the EM one is definitely more stainless steel like. I wonder if yours started to yellow or you had a bad batch. I would almost be inclined to airbrush yours with a metal paint color to make it look more accurate. I feel like building one might connect you more with the model, whereas some people will just buy this and display it and kind of forget about it whereas with the eagle moss one you’re continuously engaged with it for a long period of time, being more invested. Anyway, which one do you prefer?

    • @DeLoreanTECH
      @DeLoreanTECH  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Having owned both I actually prefer the Hot Toys. Yes it's not perfect and I am actually planning to retun my Mark 2 for a replacement due to several issues, but... the Eaglemoss has issues of it's own. Yes it's easier to display in some regards, but it is definitely more fragile than the Hot Toys because of several things: it's VERY heavy, making it hard to move around, the parts are so intricate that the can break easily because of the weight of the entire model and also the awkwardness of it. You have to be extremely careful with the Eaglemoss vs the Hot Toys. The part about the EM that I enjoyed the most was building it because it's so accurate. I actually bought TWO Eaglemoss models because of the fun factor in building it plus the different display options like the Part 3 variations. It was like building an actual DeLorean! I have a new Eaglemoss video coming soon on a new display case option.

    Hot Toys is just a toy…it has little collectibility, all plastic look feel. When the next version comes out as they always do, no one would want to buy this version and its value goes down the trash. Eaglemoss is a prop type collectible item. They are for different buyers, if you just like the movie and want something cool to play with, get HT. But if you are a collector who cares about movie prop, build, and accuracy, there is no choice. It’s the same story as chronicle collectibles(now bankrupt) ed209 vs ht ed209

      I don’t agree with this at all. I’ve been looking for a comparison of the two simply for the reason of deciding whether to build one or keep the DeLorean that I just got. I’m not super pleased with the size of the mark ii, it’s a little too big for me and not wild about it mostly being plastic pieces for the price. Yes it’s not a one to one comparison but it’s the only comparable model on the market. I’m grateful he bothered to show a comparison.
