    Boxing Women's Middle (75kg) Finals Bout - United States v Russian Fed. Full Replay from the ExCeL - South Arena 2 at the London 2012 Olympic Games, 9 August 2012.
    Boxing made its Olympic debut at the 1904 Games in St Louis, since then boxing has been staged at each edition of the Games, except in 1912 in Stockholm, owing to Swedish law, which forbade the practice.
    The rules have evolved since the 1980s: 1984 in Los Angeles: protective helmet obligatory; 1992 in Barcelona: set-up of an electronic scoring system to strengthen the objectivity of refereeing; 2007: standardised point scoring. Women's boxing will make its debut at the 2012 London Games in London.

    Congratulations to Ms. Shields who earned a gold medal in the inauguration of womens boxing in the olympics. Other than her home town she got zero recognition here in america. Another female boxer ,who's name escapes me atm, also received a medal.

      she didn't earn anything, her win is the cleanest product of political games. the same fight against ukrainian woman would have been decided not the same way :)

    I wished i'd commented back then on this video. But i said it then, in my living room watching. "This young lady is going to be a GWOAT someday". I was right! I have never seen one woman box like her in all my 40 years of being a boxing fan. Not even Laila Ali has such great form like Shields does. I mean , good god almighty, this woman can truly box. She's amazing to watch and has brought womens boxing into the forefront. She's a beast. I felt so proud watching USA take boxing gold, like we used to, back in the day, all the time. We've fallen off a bit but Claressa had made up for it. Love her!

      You're right.... aside from the "man" part. Fuck gender roles. She just boxes like a great boxer, especially considering her age. She did her country proud with this one.

      I didn't find it sexist; it's not like you were calling her a man. Either way, she did her thing and got the gold.

      A lot of women can hit harder and better than men. Women sometimes have more control and men let their ego get in the way of the competition.

    How can I get in contact with shields, at team level please? I would really like to meet this girl one day. Am a lady by the way and am no lesbian,! Just would like to meet shields in person one day.I am an international player coach for taekwondo.I just like charismatic people I have a feeling she is not even aware of how good she is and you might find that she's not even going to Rio. Please shields, I will only watch boxing olympics 2016, only if you'll be playing.wow" America defeating Russia!' here we go again. Nike versus adidas

    • @rhawkins003

      Idk. I just saw a report that she just had a baby and she is totally going to Rio. But the ladies are killing in ameteur boxing, at least in the States. The ladies are hungry for it. Just like in soccer/football. That's what makes it so entertaining.

    • @favouritepeople1519
      @favouritepeople1519 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Rhawkins003. Thank you so much for the update about Shields. I'm so happy that she will definitely be going to Rio. Thank you so much once again rhawkins003. Do you live in the USA? I live in the UK

    • @favouritepeople1519
      @favouritepeople1519 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL!!! You are really funny, Team GB are also doing well. Nicola Adams is still going strong. Anthony Joshua is no more playing at team level, he is now a professional boxer.Things are OK so far here in England. I live in north west London (Hemel Hempstead).

      Boxing is a poor man's sport. The majority of american champion's come from very little, and use boxing as a way to make something of themselves.

      our black americans are SUPER ATHLETIC and FAST. some might say that's racist but its sensitive politically correct ppl that its a racist remark. anyway they pretty much dominate in the USA. even non athletic African americans are athletic lol.

      Because back in the slavery days white people enslaved anyone that wasn't white and only the strong or the talented survived. So now 90% of non white people are either talented/strong/smart
