They know the rim of that cup is where the bullseye is but being just even a millimeter off won’t score you a gold medal

All of these people who haven't competed at the upper levels in Archery saying "what is the coach even for?" 1) Archery is very much a mentally exhaustive sport in absolute focus, conditioning, form and confidence, taking years to master - a good coach can and knows how to cater to these demands of an archer in the midst of a competition; 2) There are very subtle techniques in a perfect form for each archer - a good coach can identify and provide feedback to the archer (when to do so, refer to point 1); 3) Every elite archer knows their equipment, but not every archer knows how to fix their equipment in the moment, assess damage (if any) - a good coach can provide this oversight; and 4) Psychologically, having that one person in your corner, no matter what, it helps to face against a crowd or desperate times. Hopefully some will find this useful, instead of hating on archery coaches and (what feels to me) making a mockery of one the greatest and underrated sports

@@eklavyas9146 what? It's a fact that the Korean women win way more, they have received gold at every game since 1988...
Never watched archery in my life. Yet, here i was cheering for the korean anyway and googling how set points work.
Nice broadcast!

Their DNA allowes them to play hanzo..

Hanzo should have been a Korean character. lol
Just to keep the comments alive, I'd like to say I just got into archery and it's amazing to see how far a human can take it!
It's unfortunate there aren't videos of Korean archery which is 145 meters, twice Olympic distance.
Anyone else's hands surprisingly sweaty after watching this?

The Korean archers say the qualification to be an Olympian is much harder than winning a gold medal in an actual Olympic.

I wanna know why Korean are so so good in achery... They got all 6 gold medals... Just wow wow wow. Congrate KR
They just have really good coaches and really dedicated shooters
simple .. they sleep with their bows and arrows .. even their dreams are how to aim and make perfect scores .. lol
Korea used bow as their main weapon for a long time. (just like katana of Japan and spear of China)
Theres an old saying I remember reading somewhere. China spears, Japan Swords, Korea bow.
Palaemon124 Not necessarily Japan has it's own archery style that the samurai used
Sincere congratulations to South Korea for great performance in Rio2016.
He looked so humbled on the podium it’s so sweet!
One of the most beautiful ancient sports!
Agreed.
When playing at this level, is there really any point than having the target larger than the red number 8 circle?
For BM of course.
Maybe it's because they get used to practice with the full target, so it has to be that way.
After watching so many archery battles in the Olympics. I noticed the final shot for the gold medal that requires, in this case, an 8 or higher 12:55, they ACTUALLY go for the 8 or whatever number is necessary to just win instead of going near the bullseye. That's what you call swaggy skills 👏
As an archer, you would never do that
he actually needed 7+ since he only needs a tie set to win but i will still aim for 10 of course
I like that you can have no idea about the sport, but get hella excited when they hit the center piece!

7:05 WHAT?! THE DISTANCE?!
Ikr i reacted same
It’s 70meters
It’s not unbelievably far bc I’d it was more to the shooters it would all just be tens. The wind needs to take effect or else they will only lose by one point and that’s no fun ofc.

so happy to see so many non archers liking and watching this video. here's to more growth and popularity for the sport!!
They could make this more interesting with moving targets. You think archers shot at static targets back in the day?
Adam J oh no. They shot 100 yards with traditional bows while riding on horses with bloody war going on
Im pretty sure they're not training to kill people or animals xd

@@danieloctavio2111 well maybe they should. Then we'd be seeing more perfect 10's
Rich people in remote place actually have that kind of game, they riding freakin horse and hunt deer. Its so easy to rent an island in 3rd world countrt
All of these people who haven't competed at the upper levels in Archery saying "what is the coach even for?"
1) Archery is very much a mentally exhaustive sport in absolute focus, conditioning, form and confidence, taking years to master - a good coach can and knows how to cater to these demands of an archer in the midst of a competition;
2) There are very subtle techniques in a perfect form for each archer - a good coach can identify and provide feedback to the archer (when to do so, refer to point 1);
3) Every elite archer knows their equipment, but not every archer knows how to fix their equipment in the moment, assess damage (if any) - a good coach can provide this oversight; and
4) Psychologically, having that one person in your corner, no matter what, it helps to face against a crowd or desperate times.
Hopefully some will find this useful, instead of hating on archery coaches and (what feels to me) making a mockery of one the greatest and underrated sports
Thanks mate for this knowledge
Can you please tell me why Ku didn't won in the third set only?? He had a 10 shot...i m really confused now! Do rescue 😄

There is so much potential to make this awesome on TV. Like info on exit velocity and launch angle would be cool and more downrange shots gives a better perspective on the distance and the context of how tiny these targets are.
