Also, I've heard of something called a pogo charger, which uses that port at the bottom. I heard that it charges the tablet faster. They sell it on amazon for $20.
Have had this tablet since Dec 2012 (32G) and have had no reason to want to replace it with a current model tablet, the display is still just as good as today's tablets as 2k resolution is just becoming more popular, I've had no issues with light bleed or crashing, great Samsung Google collaboration, this tablet was way ahead of its time. Of course, Apples junk iPad is the only tab that ever gets any press, would never buy one of those 800 dollar paperweights that gets a 1\2 new feature each year...

Thanks for the review Mike...in your opinion between the Nexus 10 and the Asus Infinity...which is the best if the latter be upgraded to JB 4.2?
yes, if you watch other reviews, they say the back feels hollow, and if you press it hard enough, the plastic would flex in the hollow center area
Wow I can't believe 4.2 has been around that long (considering now at 4.4.4 many of the same features are still being used so that makes me more excited for Android Lollipop.) I'm very happy with my Nexus 7 2013 but amazingly the Nexus 10 still is a competitive tablet due to how well it was made compared to my old ASUS TF700 which was garbage right out of the box. I still think the Nexus 10 will remain relevant for some time to come with the addition of Android Lollipop and considering the Nexus 9 will be 4:3. I wish I would have gotten this tablet or the iPad that was out back then over the Transformer.
I scrolled down through the comments, could not find this point made: The Pogo charging cable is available for Nexus 10 to use that magnetic port, users report about 25% faster charging. Decent sized USB batteries now out with 1.5A and 2A outputs also which themselves charge at 2A input. Combined you're attacking down the power issues with the Nexus 10 - being able to charge faster both from mains and external batteries.
I truly enjoyed the tone of your review. It seems very evenhanded and unbiased while remaining honest about the flaws and/or questionable points of the device. In all of that, I don't remember any inflammatory comments or incendiary terminology. Impeccably professional. I think this was easily the best review of such a device that I've seen in recent months. Thank you.
Good Morning, I wonder if anyone can help me? I have chosen my language option and my wireless option appears ok but I do not get the opening menu which allows me accept options and sign in as shown in the tutorial above.
This was probably the most neglected device google ever sold or marketed (or didn't market)
Why would they put that thing over the camera if google isn't gonna put a sd card slot there? They could've put a sd and micro sd under that useless thing.

I have an Asus Transformer Infinity (when I bought it I thought it would be great) and in reality it's pretty horrible from what I expected. It almost always lags when opening or multitasking apps, crashes and restarts almost every day, and boot up takes forever. I'm deciding if I should sell it and get the nexus 10 or keep it and root it. I think the nexus build is super ugly but what's inside is what really matters and I could always buy a case. The ininity has a better camera but I'll
thoughts between the nexus 7 and 10. If you want the device for ereader and web and email reading is the nexus 7 a better device?

Although this tablet isn't yet available to the European market (although I did find a link from UK but at a high price of EUR 500 (GBP 410 exchange rate = 0.82) for a 16Gb version, which is rather expensive when in the US is around US$ 399 (EUR 310 exchange rate = 1.29), I'm inclined at the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T, not sure which one to pick :/ Asus has already been updated to JB 4.1.1. Well it's gonna be a tough Christmas for me to be able to make a decision, but which one?!? :(

I just got one for my 13th birthday on march 7th. along with my new phone upgrade (note 3 to s6 edge)
It would be nice to see Android manufacturers improve build quality. There are two reasons I dont use Android as my main device. The first is the poor plasticky quality of most of them and the second is that my company email can only be accessed with iOS or BB.
I was tempted to get this but ordered the iPad 4 instead since I'm already used to the iPhone interface. I saw on some guy's video that compared to the Nexus 4 the Nexus 10 drops frames?
Would you prefer the iPad over this?
can you run high end Tegra 3 games on it? ...... o sorry forgot doesn't have a tegra 3 processor so it wouldn't play any of the high graphical games.

happily trade that for front facing stereo speakers. I really loved the Infinity but these issues that are never addressed in updates are really making me want to buy a smaller tablet to use most of the time or get rid of it. Does anyone know if rooting will unlock its potential or is the Nexus 10 all around the better tablet to have? I'd appreciate any advice.
What is the best tablet on the market for Email browsing and has cellular compatibility ? (but not as expensive as the ipad 4) nexus 7, ipad mini, blackberry tablet, samsung tablet???
Agree...but you cannot blame Google/Samsung for the apps, the Android developers need to upgrade them to a better resolution :)

Android 4.2 added another bar at the top of the screen for tablets!?!? I was always annoyed at how android 3.0 - 4.1 didn't let you hid the bottom bar, but in android 4.2, they added another one! They should let us make the most of our space, not try to cut it down even further! And the recent apps menu takes up the entire screen?? Why? This is almost as stupid as Windows 8 full screen start menu
Honestly, I think this is basically an android iPad. The reason I hate the iPad is because it has no expandable storage, and no file manager... That's the main problem I have with it. I was thinking about getting this, until I researched it a little more. I guess I'll be looking for something else... anyone have any ideas? I would love jelly bean on it. It would be a nice upgrade from my current Ice Cream Sandwich tablet (Toshiba Thrive AT100)
Decent tablet, it seems, but in my opinion Android is an ugly mess. And the tablet app selection is embarrassingly bad compared to iPad. This tablet competes with iPad, but I think a 4:3 ratio screen is a better shape for a tablet, as you have more space and much nicer experience in portrait, which is the way I use tablets, for reading articles, Pocket and the web. In the end though, it's all about apps, so iPad is clearly the best choice.
I have no problem with charging, since i do it at nifht, and the battery lasts me all day. My nexus 10 havent gotten less than 40%. It does freeze sometimes, but rarely. Graphics are smooth, speakers r nice and loud. I only wish that this had cellular connectivity and an sd card slot, but other than that, i love it!
Why all the negativity against Apple? If you like Android and Google better, that's fine. But give Apple credit. They launched the smartphone/ tablet revolution. You may not like them, but they started it all. Yeah, most of their revolutions would've eventually happened without them, but they sped it up by several years. I do not understand why people love to hate Apple.
@cytrucker not only that but it runs all games smoothly,even graphic intensive fps shooters. It has a very powerful dual core Exynos CPU and a good MALI GPU. It's much faster than the quad core Tegra 3 and its 12 core geforce GPU (like the one in Nexus 7,which Nexus 10 obliterates performance wise ...though Tegra enhanced games have nicer effects)
I don't like how the front facing camera is not centred. You have to hold the tablet a bit sideways to centre yourself if you video chat ...what's up with that?? What's the reasoning behind this decision ? Am I missing something ? My N7 front facing camera is perfectly placed in the exact centre
Actually it does make a difference if you have 20-20 vision and look at it closely and the two company's do like to brag but when you said you are not a Apple fanboy I understand completely since Google is in the lead according to the stock market(yes,I pretty much am a Google fanboy).
you're right man, I also use iOS, but I don't need al those axtra features I know I'm never going to use, iOS is perfect to me. I totally wouldn't complain about a iOS overhaul by Ive, I'd certainly like it, but to me, the Apple ecosystem still is superior to whatever ecosystem.

@Seymakor Mensah me too...also Tegra enhanced games look amazing. And the Nexus 10 has its camera is not in centre ...which is very surprising and I heard is very annoying when doing video chat. Nexus7 has its camera centred perfectly in the middle thank God
Hi, Help! I am just unboxing my new Nexus 10 and hit the start button, but it seems to be stuck on the internet authenticating. How do I get it off of that screen and onto the next setup screen? Is there another button that I should be tapping? Help?!

So games scaled to fit the tablet work fine? I always here about Android not having tablet optimized apps but I plan to use a tablet for video, gaming, & web browsing only so If gaming isn't an issue I'll pick up one of these. Thanks for the great review!

If the Asus Trans. Infitinty gets updated to this version, will it have the features? For example, the 360 degrees cam, the 2 drop down menus, to add more widgets on the blocked screen...does anyone know about this?

Thanks again for another pro class unboxing. The device is good and it is worth the money you pay for it but don't you think there are big big issues with the way it looks? In my humble opininon it looks very UGLY.
That's true...i believe that you don't need more than 10 minutes,it's just percect...you cover everything and it's not boring...soon enough you will have subscribers from all over the world,just keep up the good work...
i´ve been asking the same question. it is apple´s strategy to aim at apple fans that will buy just about everything regardless of how bad it really is. on the other hand, im hoping the mini 2 has what i expect

@CareerGaming iPad mini, easily. At the end of the day iOS is the far more polished OS, its experienced is unrivalled. And the most important area fora tablet is apps, iOS has got you covered.
Should i get a Nexus 7 or Nexus 10. Price is a issue by if the Nexus 10 is worth it ill get it. I will use the tablet mostly for Games and Internet Browsing Which one should i get?
It's a great tablet. Hopefully developers can start making tablet friendly apps for android.
Michael: this might sound crazy, but I think you could charge a Nexus 10 faster with a different USB cable. I suggest you try a Kindle Fire or Nexus 7 charging cable.
I've had an iPad last year, sold it to get a macbook because the iPad was so limited.

i've heard that those metal panels you talked about are actually magnets that will allow a new cover (they're working on it) to adhere to it. Kinda like ipad's smart cover

imo a major flaw of the nexus 10 is having the software keys in the middle of the screen. wtf, google simply blow up the phone version of jellybean. disappointing
dont get samsung tab . i regreted getting the tab 2 10.1 .
software upgrade takes forever altho they had promised . until now its still running on ICS .
It's ridiculous to release a tablet without the possibility to have an external sd-card.

Android on the Nexus 7 is just perfect. What it needs is like on SGS3 and Note II, with the multi window multitasking ...that feature is just awesome
Apple is doing just fine biggest and most profitable company in the world, although now it does have more competition, they are still the best.
Still not as charming as the iPad .. but just wait it will if Apple didn't respond quickly to the extreme competition from Google and Samsung
The only reason why I wont get any of Microsoft's tablets is due to the fact that you have to have a credit card, just to get apps, movies, ect.
If Google went to apple and asked them to make a nexus and they did apple would sue the companies that have already made or going to a nexus.
Why does Samsung make such a beautiful screen for the Google Nexus 10 tablet, but fails to make the same screen for their own tablets?

I'm really not an expert, but my guess is that the magnetic charger will charge the tablet much faster. off course i may be wrong.
I don't understand the point of the removable cover. It looks completely tacky. Does it serve some purpose? If not, why include it?
Very cheap looking :( Wanted to buy one however thinking about the surface or iPad 4. Materials and build quality is everything IMO.

Nexus devices do not have SD card expansion. Not Samsung's fault, if you want to blame someone, Google is the company.
Does it support stylus like s-pen on note 10.1 ? Just imagine the accuracy you would get with a stylus on this resolution!
AFIK the GPU is quad core but the CPU is a next generation Dual Core which is better than quad cores such as the tegra 3

wish I could upgrade to 4.2 on my Motorola Xoom. it was announced that 4.1.2 is the last upgrade for the Xoom.
You can run tegra 3 games if they arent completely not compatible/optimized with this device like a breeze im sure
