    Just ordered my kit, great to find this video. Two Q's; 1) Udder Butter (I heard the name and wondered why skin cream is being used, until I looked it up, not the udder butter I know) seems to be a type of "mineral oil and aluminum complex grease", like NLGI or white lithium, what is the "black grease", moly sulfate, something else? 2) Is it wise to apply grease to hold things to so many places that will get dust and could turn to grinding paste, i.e. isn't the plastic on metal supposed to be lubricating so no need for grease?

      Good questions. So, 1) Yes, not the skin cream! LOL The black grease is what we've used for years on thrust washer assemblies in the diffs for RC cars. It's a bit thicker and a little more gritty than most - I honestly don't know it's composition. Almost all RC companies sell it, or you could buy it from an aftermarket source. 2) Yes and no. If you use a LOT of it, it could cause some issues - it really depends on where you use it. On the diff gaskets, there is no movement so it shouldn't be an issue. On the hinge pin pivot balls, it's possible, but we've pulled ours apart a few times to check wear on different parts of the car and they're fine. Just use it sparingly and you should be good to go.

      @@Competitionx Thx for the info, maybe a case of a little goes a long way. If anybody knows where to get SDS sheets or industry names for these RC branded "proprietary blends and spices" greases and oils, please reply.

    Question - with the satellite gears/bevel gears, can you use the metal upgraded ones from the XV01 hop up options? Are they the same?

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know for sure on that. The parts look the same but since they have different numbers than the XV-01, I'm guessing something is different. I've got a set ordered up to see how much different they are.

    Do you find the oil leaks out the diffs?

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't experienced that yet. I'm going to pull the diffs after this next Rally race and inspect though to see.

    The satellite gears usually sit on a metal piece for them why is it plastic that didn't make any sense.

    • @Competitionx

      Cheaper to mold it. Shouldn't be much of an issue unless you start running big horsepower or on a high grip surface.

    Plastick in diff😳

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but you can always drop in metal parts if you're going to go hot with the motor. We're running a 17.5T and it's plenty fast for our course.
