    This is part of a movie "Stop making sense" with the full concert which was very influental! Possibly also of your game.

      This comment can not be overstated. To fully understand the absolute mind bending, booty shaking genius of this show it MUST be seen from start to finish. You will not regret it.

      This was at the Greek theatre. I was at the pacific amphitheater two day earlier and it was by far one of the best gigs I have ever seen, and I’ve been to 100’s of them

    That's Bernie Worrell from the Parliment Funkadelics on the synthesizer.

    Yesss. You can't go wrong with Talking Heads. They do not have a song that isn't fire. Even if it doesn't seem impressive today like 40 years later, they were phenomenal, way ahead of the curve. Everything on Stop Making Sense for example. I think you did Psycho Killer last time. Life During Wartime, This Must Be the Place, Take Me To the River, for example all great.

    "Life During Wartime" is another high energy jewel from this same concert.

    The synth player on the left making Sonic Pinball sounds is Bernie Worrell who was a founding member of Parliment-Funkadelic. He’s in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

    Not sure that the term 'mediocre' applys to Talking Heads'.

    • @GabSte1989
      @GabSte1989 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, it's weird, but for me I find most mainstream bands to be 'mediocre'. I dunno if it's weird unconscious bias or just the kind of music that I just like naturally.
      Btw, I understand in the video the context was mainstream success and not musical aptitude or creativity.

    • @peterzukowski
      @peterzukowski 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      David Burned got the Talking Heads mainstream success not by appealing to the lowest common denominator, but by doing his own thing so bloody good he couldn't be denied.

    Just saw the re-release of this movie in IMAX .
    A24 really did a fantastic job remastering what I consider the best concert movie of all time.

    I love it when the younger crowd turns on to this performance. It was amazing to hear this in 84 for the first time. It Rocked the music world. Still moves the soul today.

    Keyboardist Bernie Worrell also played keys for Parliament Funkadelic, whose songs were samples for damn near every West Coast rap song in the 90's.

    You made a great point regarding the integrity of the music, especially after artists become successful. It takes a lot of guts for an artist to be truer to themselves and not pander to their fanbase who are really paying the bills. I love it when artists depart from their comfort zone and explore other genres. With the Talking Heads, I think they did "Life During Wartime" in the same concert, that's even more amazing than this performance was.

    You really need to watch the whole movie! It's a top three concert movie. Not a bad song on it. But, Life During Wartime is great.
    Talking Heads made the 80s worth living.

  • @RusShpion

    Great content as usual. WB, and it's great to hear you recharged over the holiday. 100% sonic pinball. lol Surprised you spotted that, I totally missed it. Talking heads are just fun. We definitely need more bands not making 2.5 min songs who are off the radar. Mainstream isn't bad, but if that's all you focus on you miss a lot of great stuff.

    This WAS mainstream just not in all genres. Also, and most importantly, this era was a much more easier time of life. There wasn't all the politically, intentional race based division going on. It was truly just good jam. I sure miss them times 😢

    I HOPE you were able to see the re-release of STOP MAKING SENSE in theaters a few weeks ago. I think most everyone in our earliest show-times had seen the film before but many probably only on home-video. The big screen theater jammed with enthusiastic fans gave it a power that no home-video could ever produce. And that show is all about physicality and motion, 'feeling' the sound. I am hoping for a spring set of show-times, too. This should be a film brought back in for film festivals, time after time.

    • @emwa3600
      @emwa3600 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't understand your video game reference... what year was it produced in? This song was a jam session between Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz sometime in 1981 or 1982, with lyrics added during 1983's recording sessions. The music video was significant hit on MTV/VH1, an eerie consideration for all the new fans.

    Such a great show. You could probably watch everything from it and love it. I can't remember if you've already done from this same show, I've got a girlfriend that's better than that. It's a total banger and once again the energy on stage is insane.

    Their biggest album was a Live album, which tells you everything you need to know. They were the definition of unique, at a time when weird music was normal (the 80s), yet still they were very different to everything else that was going on.

    If you're not grooving to this, there is something wrong with you. I was born in 1957, Growing up in the 60s 70s and 80s we had thee very best music on the planet!!! I love seeing (younger) folks reacting to it. They came BEFORE pinball, LOL. There is a Post featuring either Paige or Plant from Led Zeppelin> You know why your generation is so angry? It's because your music sucks LOLOLLLOLOL
