- Thank you for checking out our brief product review video on LibreOffice, an open source free document editing tool that works for Windows, Mac, and Linux!
This program does a great job at what most people use Microsoft Word and Excel for - all for free.

Thanks for this, I'm a senior and prices for MSOffice are not feasible for me since I live on a fixed income. This is going to be VERY helpful. Happy New Year :)
I am a Senior as well. I has Microsoft 365 for 4 years. Can no longer afford it. Libre Office is an excellent substitute once you grasp ahold of the differences.
Libre Office/Open Office for the average user is the best way to go and of course it is free to download. I dumped MS Office many years ago and have never looked back.
I've been using Libre Office exclusively since Microsoft force fed the ”ribbon' interface on us with Office 2007. I regularly swap .DOC and .DOCX files with a number of associates and Libre Office does everything fine. Personally I dislike MS's ribbon interface, but for those who like it, it's easy to set Libre Office to use the ribbon as default. Libre Office is a complete replacement for MS Office. The only thing it does NOT do is suck money out of your account every year.
Yes, it is very easy to replace the MS Office suite with LibreOffice and Thunderbird if you do not want to pay their annual charges! Glad to hear you have had a good experience.
As a broad index invester, I make money off people using main stream stuff. However, as a indiviual, i absolutely do not want to use anything but FOSS. -posted from iphone 8
I freakin' love it. LibreOffice wins by default. Microsoft are basically extorting us. I just found this application today. There is no learning curve at all. Install and go. I can no longer justify the expense of the Microsoft suite and this makes them null and void.
Glad to hear LibreOffice is working out well for you!
You paid for office 😂 i just used an unlimited free trial glitch

Great review. I am new to Libre Office. Just downloaded it. Following your instructions were a bit different since I downloaded version 24.2.2 and some of the steps I believe were not necessary. But even with not being tech savvy, I was able to change the extensions to .docx which was my goal. Thank you so very much for this great review.
Thank you, I am glad to hear it!
Thank you, nice short video containing all the most important information we need to know
Marvelous! Clear and to the point!
great video, interesting alternative
Outstanding review.
Thanks. That's a great review 💛🌼
Libreoffice is the future and the best office suite.
LibreOffice is an excellent option.... That with Thunderbird and we done!
I have used Windows Mail personally at home for some time now before knowing Thunderbird. After working with Thunderbird and seeing how easy it is, plus Microsoft forcing people to change to Outlook supposedly in 2024, I might just have to make the switch! I'm grateful for everyone who has added something to the open source project as it has helped a lot of people and made email simple.
@@compumatterllc You on your way to becoming a Linux user 🤣 I've moved most of my PC's and Servers to Linux. Best thing ever
Thank you! 🤗
Thanks for the information, I got a Linux computer for college.
Just Perfect.
thanks for the info, cancelled my ms office subscription today and installed libreoffice. Glad i made the switch.
P.S. Also i don't wanna sound creepy but u r very cute.
💘
Can u make video on how to install a libre office
Absolutely! I can make a short how-to guide on this soon.
Hi there, we just posted a video guide for downloading and installing LibreOffice. Feel free to give us a call too if you need additional assistance.
I tried it but it's very buggy and the spell and grammar tool is far poor.
The only problem with LibreOffice is that its macros are not compatible with Microsoft Office macros
That's fair. They do not mesh together nicely for macro usage..
What does that mean exactly? Im thinking of getting Libre office, will i not be able to send documents to people with microsoft office and such because they are not compatible? Please and thankyou :)
@@Jayjay-vh1jg No no no. You will be able to do that (share/edit files). Its Macros where there is an issue. Each application has its own way of making macros. Microsoft office Macros are what a macro is: it's a recorded sequence of actions or commands that enable yo to do a repetitive function quickly using VBA. Say you have a complex mathematical formula that you use throughout a document, you can create a macro and assign it a key to do that formula at a keystroke instead of multiple keystrokes. Or say you pull data from a database to generate a report. You can create a macro that will let you do that. OpenOffice has its own version of this function. In order to switch from one platform (LibreOffice/MS Office) to the other, you would have to redo the macro in the desires platform.
