This response has been absolutely incredible..., I really hope this can help you. For those of you asking my band name, it's W.M.D( When Minds Develop).
I can totally get that it's really hard to lose that amazing head of hair you had but you look great with a shaved head. Thanks for sharing this with us.
I know it's not the same as your own hair- but if you ever wanted to rock the long hair on stage again, wigs and hair systems have come a long way and look super good! Obviously, I admire you being at peace with the shaved head, and you look amazing either way, but know that there are options!
A serious moment of appreciation here. This is the very definition of Baldcafe. Skyler coming on and literally publicly sharing something that was a debilitating insecurity for years, all in the name of hoping it will help another guy out there who is struggling right now. The words forever grateful don’t do it justice. 🙏
When I started balding, I just embraced it instead of trying to spend every last cent to keep my hair. It was such a liberating experience and a massive weight off of me (err...well in a way it was)
@@SkylerMills Man, you rock a great 'bald' look! Most men do, imo. We all need to let go of our insecurities and pave the way for a different mindset in our society. I've never even seen this channel before, this vid just popped up in my feed, lol.
My father in law kept his rocker hair far longer than he should have. It was thin and scraggly. But since he could put the remaining bits in a ponytail, he thought it was cool. I was so happy when he cut it short. He looked much younger and like he had more hair.
As someone with long hair thats prolly going to have to cut it off soon for the same reasons. I def can feeel that/his pain on this. Looks better shaved then with thinning, but mannnnn I know that boy gna regret losing those locks major poon reduction incoming. But then again with hair that thin already im sure ol boy was already seeing the effects.
The natural and historical hair care communities have solutions. I'm not balding at all but my hair has thinned out a lot (I'm a woman). I started doing onion juice treatments. Blender it up, whole onion and put it in a nut juice bag or sock and either massage the juice into your scalp or put the pulp on your head and wrap it up. Just browse Curly Proverbz channel for example. Tons of testimonials of new growth within days (obviously not a miracle though). I make tea out of fennel seeds..twice a week massage the tea into my scalp. Rinse or don't. I'm only two months in and my hair shedding stopped. I couldn't believe it. My issue was hormones and hard water. I also do oil treatments once a week with whatever oil is in my kitchen. I also tried castor oil. I wanted to see clearly if it worked so I put it on my lashes and brows at night. After maybe two weeks I had to pluck my eyebrows. I previously had perfectly shaped ones that didn't need attention. I stopped applying it there and use it on my head.
That's brutal. The long hair is a big part of the metal culture, the headbanging, etc. That guy couldn't hyde the pain in his face. But, men like Phil Anselmo, Kerry King and Rob Halford prove that is possible to be bald and still rock!
Lol I was just gonna say Phil has been bald for decades. Hair is also a big part of hockey culture so I’ve always been ripped by my teammates on every club I’ve played on for being the only one without awesome hair, not to mention being the only grown man that can’t grow facial hair so being bald and beardless during playoffs made me a very easy target for scrutiny lol.
Indeed, I've been losing some hair in the past year due to stress but of course the thought of me simply going bald has crossed my mind, I don't think that’s what's happening but if it is, my personal bald metal "hero" (not exactly an admirable human being) is John Nödveidt from Dissection
Dude, you are handsome. And as a metalhead woman I can tell you that hair does not matter. Your passion for music and your soft-spoken attitude is what speaks for you and makes you attractive. Good luck out there and congrats!
I hope he can see while his hair is awesome most of his attractiveness was actually his face and personality. The hair was a nice unique thing but it wasn't what made him hot.
@@luv2stack if you checked the channel, they do have at least one video with a woman suffering from female pattern baldness. It’s a thing, and there are many reasons for women having to lose their hair.
As a fellow guitarist who had long hair and ultimately had to shave it because of hair loss I can totally relate to how you felt about losing a part of your identity. But then I realised one thing that my hair doesn't define my ability to play the guitar and I've sort of been at peace with it since then. You've got this man. Cheers!!
@@sohamsarker I'm talking about guys like him n you who have thick n long hair , how does it start for no reason , there must be some triggering factor right
@@ronaknanda6175 honestly no idea, in my case a lot of things happened and I never really got a proper answer from any doctor. In my case I first started having grey hair when I was in 8th standard and over the period I even developed psoriasis which caused intense itching and resulted in me scratching my head constantly and I started experiencing hairloss by the time I was 23. Other people incl my dad still have their hair intact. In fact even now my dad has a head full of black hair but his beard n moustache have turned partially grey. He's almost 70 now.
He looks damn good with a shaved head, but this video in particular does illustrate something...us guys really do lose something beautiful and irreplaceable when we go bald. Often shaving it off is a good way to go, but there's nothing wrong with still acknowledging that it really does suck.
Totally agree with you here, I feel that it is necessary to 'move-on' after the fact, as there is nothing to fall back on other than memories and flashbacks of what once was...but god, some guys have such incredible hair when young...it tears me apart to see people with incredibly beautiful hair lose it, specially at such young ages! 🤯
He looks amazing with hair and without. As a woman, I lost more than half my hair the same age as him and now at 29 it still bothers me sometimes. Change is difficult to accept.
Same here, I used to have abnormally thick, dense hair and people were constantly comment/complimenting it, even though at the time it was the bane of my existence cause it was so unmanageable. My hair started rapidly thinning at age 24 and by 28 I lost more than half my hair, now my scalp constantly shows no matter what way I part it. I thought it was hard to deal with before but now I would give anything just not to have my scalp showing. I should also add that I have PCOS and apparently it's really common with PCOS to go bald like that, not that it makes it any better/easier :/
I'm an older guy but in my day I think your your new look has more street cred, strength. Rock it, own it, and be more aerodynamic. You're inspiring. Congratulations on your transformation.
My story was identical to yours. That pain man. The utter heartbreak of the final shave. Now I don't give a toss. I actually prefer my baldness. The loss of confidence seeded a real don't give a toss attitude in me, which, weirdly. In turn, gave me shitloads of confidence. You look great dude. The bald works.
All my mates are basically bald or shaved number 1. They call me a hippy cause I’ve got a almost normal short haircut when we’re out. Strangely enough they are all extremely confident & successful people. Maybe I’ll shave my head 🤔🤣
@@SuperPulseadasArmwrestling I think a lot of woman dig shaved heads - the number 1 thing a woman looks for is safety. A shaved head seems to indicate you are more combat ready haha.
I'm crying watching this. I'm the same guy with beautiful hair that's on its way out. I know exactly how this dude feels and it's got me broken. The realization that I'm losing my identity as well just sucks.
My best friend went through this until I suggested wigs. They make great wigs these days, very inexpensive. It changed his life, and his confidence came back! Women wear wigs. Why shouldn't guys?
@@starsapphirelee5714 absolutely agree , some people just do not suit a bald head it should be no more stigma than any other item of clothing or fashion /style statement
He has such a lovely face and personality that it really doesn't matter that he's bald now. His eyes look kind for a start. I hope he has a long and happy life ahead x
I started balding in high school. My self esteem plummeted. I joined the army in 98 and went with the bald look. I’m now 45 and just now really accepting myself and comfortable being just me. You look good bro. Keep rocking
@Guitarzen Wow… you are incredibly ignorant, you know nothing about this guy. For almost 20 years, I lived a off of junk foods and was a drug addict and I haven’t lost any hair.
@@vhyles what are these guys need is the HairCafe channel not somebody to tell them they look good bald. Guys with thinning hair like him could have just went on finasteride and saved all of their hair instead of reading fear-mongering BS and watching (wo)men empowering channels which is really not for men.
I love the little smile as he was shaving it and kinda realized that he didn't look terrible at all lol. He looks so much better than he did before shaving it, he's a handsome guy, but i totally understand the process he had to go through, especially mentally. I think it's badass that he's sharing such a personal moment like this. Rock on, if Skyler reads this, you're still a stud 😉
Well like you said, he's a handsome guy, so of course it's easier, he will look good no matter what, he has a pretty face. Much more difficult when you're not good looking and your hair have been the biggest part of your charm for years, like me... Guys who look good with a bald head are guys who look good period. It's like a dad bod, it looks cool on a 6ft3 dude but of course it won't on a 5ft7 guy...
@@vee1766 i was of course being specific to this guy's case, losing your hair still sucks for anyone no matter how good looking, especially when you're in the public eye as a member of a band performing for a big audience of people who always could identify you by your luscious hair. His story as well as yours are variations of the same subject, it isn't an easy journey for any guy to let go of something that has been so relevant to their identity and that was the case for both of you.
@@Ciclopea2 Oh yeah i'm not questioning how emotional it is for him or for anyone, i'm simply remarking that it's much easier when you have an objectively good looking face and head shape like him, so it's not a particularly great exemple to boost people's confidence about shaving their head. But it sure is an interesting story and experience.
What a wholesome community! I’m a woman not balding but I got recommended this video and watch it out of curiosity and man! I am so happy to see such nice comments and the dude in the video seems so awesome! Love the bald head looks great!
Oh man, this one was heavy. Mad respect for you for being able to take the plunge, I feel like it must have been incredibly hard having even more of your identity wrapped up in your hair as a musician. Lookin great though brother 🤘
Appreciate you putting this out there man. I started balding in my eaaaaaarly 20s. Didn't accept it so I got medication to keep it. Still have it and finally managed to achieve long hair. It's wonderful but I know it won't be forever. Sooner or later I'll be doing what you're doing here. Peace and love bro.
My brother went ahead and shaved it. My cousin got plugs, his sister has female pattern baldness, but in time she started to .. not really let it bother her. But he was going nuts I guess it really bothered him. I think he's happy with the surgery. And yes he did look good bald, but I get the feeling of looking in the mirror and feeling like the person who is looking back is not you... Doesn't matter how attractive people say you look without your hair, you still don't feel like that's you... And the suddenness and speed of that transition just makes it hard to process. It can be a very tough time. Please take care of yourselves everyone.
I feel this. I had lost most of my hair by 20. I remember the first time I chose to shave it off. For me, it wasn't too dissimilar to being reborn. Perhaps a tad dramatic but I felt a lot of relief and acceptance once I did it. Your imagination creates a massive sense of attachment that controls your self perception. The day I shaved was the day I created my own self perception and won over my anxiety.
This was me too. It hurt so deeply when I realized I was losing my hair. I was fronting a band too. I had better hair than my girlfriend per other women! But last year it was time for the big shave. Videos like this helped me feel better about letting go.
From one man that had a long hair for many years to another, i have to say that it fits you perfectly and it's great to see that you fully embraced the new look.
He is a very handsome man. And what a great soul he has. This guy is a beautiful person to be able to navigate this. I think he had a much harder road with this because his hair was part of his performance and we have to say how gorgeous it was. Life and time are cruel and this really sucked. But I hope he has even more success with his new look. It suits him in a new way.
Props to you my man! As a thinning haired musician myself, this brought a tear and a smile to my face at the same time. You look amazing bro and inspired me a ton. Thanks for being vulnerable!
Good for you bro. I can’t imagine how hard this must’ve been for you, I started suffering from hair loss myself a couple years ago and it’s been excruciating dealing with the loss of confidence and embarrassment that comes with it, I had super long thick hair as well, so I definitely feel your pain. You 100% pull off the bald look though, wear it with confidence!!
The loss of that hair is an enormous tragedy, but your current look is a lot better than prior to your shave. And you're one of the lucky guys that pulls off being bald pretty damn good
What a transformation! He had absolutely nothing to worry about, he literally rocks this look! He’s a good looking guy, it looks so well on him. Went from ‘thin ass to bad ass’ in 8:41 and I mean ‘thin ass’ in the nicest possible way, (it just fits his super transformation well) Once you finish clipping the hair off, the feeling is just pure relief afterwards, it’s the feeling of yes this is actually done for me now I no longer have to hide/worry over thinning hair. It’s great! 🤘🏻💙
You looked amazing before & you look amazing now! I’m sorry it was a hard journey for you, but you made it to the other side & we’re all so glad to see you there, happy & enjoying life again.
Started losing my hair late teens early twenties. Happens to the best of us. You actually look pretty good with a shaved head. Glad to see you’re not letting it slow you down!
This hits close to home for me. Musician too. Started losing my hair at 20-21. Decided to quit going bald and just be bald at 23. For me at least, the catharsis was in feeling like I could control how I looked again. My life has only improved since that first shave in 2008. I hope the same holds true for this fellow.
@@ICRA95 Not sure what you're referring to exactly, but I assume you mean the hair loss. In my case, it was very much genetic, as routine male pattern baldness. It happened to strike me at a young age, much like this guy in the video. The upward trend in my life was most closely related to regaining my confidence after I first shaved my head.
@@wallaceshawn-zk8iw Sounds like you've got it in your genes too. We can't control our genetics, but we can control how we respond to them. Only advice I would have is don't let hair loss take your confidence. How we look has no bearing on who we are. Good luck!
Congratulations, Skyler, on having the courage to shave your head and record it for the world to see. That took a lot of strength and, as you said, a weight was lifted off your psyche because you don't have to hide your thinning hair anymore. You're free! You look cool and will definitely not have any trouble getting attention from girls. Wishing you the best.
Wow, I totally commend you for making this video. I’m in the same boat as you: a long haired young metal head who is losing his hair, and your words really resonated with me and gave me hope. There are so many like us: guys who are losing their hair, but do not to go through all the aggravation and flaws associated with hair transplant surgery or wigs. Thanks so much for making this video. And you look great with a shaved head. Up the irons!!
His smile lit up the room as soon as he deep sixed the thing making him unhappy 🖤, there’s nothing more attractive than watching someone take control of their own self and identity.
We have all been there. Standing with the clippers, hesitating....then we say screw it. I went for a walk in a wooded area and removed my ball cap...I felt freedom for the first time in 45 years. You rock it brother.
We are culturally geared to be extremely attached to our looks. Been around musicians my entire life. For sure, you had great hair! You also look great with your head shaved! I now work with people who are grieving difficult situations. Feel your feelings and grieve this loss fully so you can completely embrace your new look. Cause, brother, it rocks!
By doing this you are showing more self-reflection, self-respect, courage, maturity and so much more than the hair transplant twotter owner himself. You didnt just scoot over your issues with baldness. You overcame fear and ego. Btw. You would fit in perfectly in Denmark as more than half of all men are balding in their 20s. Rock on dude.
Dude, I could feel your pain, I was a front man metal guy in the 80's but didn't go bald but man you're a good looking guy no matter what and no one can take your voice and guitar talent from you!! Well done keep rocking!!!!
As a former long-haired rocker, I can totally relate! My transformation to short hair didn't go as well as I'd hoped it would and I still struggle. Many fans and those who I considered friends, instead of expressing support, showed shock, disappointment and even anger.
Looks great dude! I had the same thing happen to me. I had awesome long hair until I started going bald at around 28... I've been shaving it for 12 years and it just feels better and looks better. It was hard at first to accept it but honestly... you get over it and it pretty much happens to everyone eventually.
As a metalhead who might go bald eventually, I understand how you feel dude. I'm fortunate to still have my hair, but this is inspiring this level of confidence and I'm grateful to see someone who understands and I feel confident about going bald one day if I do thanks dude STAY METAL !!!! \m/
You looks gorgeous with or without hair. Even if it hurts now, trust me, I see a man so strong shaving his head, cause it hurts but it won't change the artist you are ❤
A buddy of mine started losing his hair as early as 24 and it wasn't until just last year he decided to shave it all off. He looks much more distinguished and mature because of it and it suits him. It must be especially hard having to let go of something that you've loved about yourself for so long. It's something we'll all have to deal with someday, but the new look looks great. I'm glad you were able to settle into your new self with confidence because that's what it's all about. It's liberating and freeing to be able to move forward with the acceptance that things won't be the same, but at the same time you're not weighed down by the past. Once again, it looks great, man.
Not only am I amazed and wondered by the instant wisdom this guy gained from leaning into his balding and the way he beautifully articulated it, but also the happiness it gave Harry. Seeing his face light up by seeing his community embracing such a powerful milestone in their lives is just magical in ways you can't even comprehend. You both are the MEN!
I’m so sorry this has happened to you when you loved your hair! I saw this on Asmon’s video and had to tell you you look amazing bald! Handsome as hell and got the head shape for it. I’m still so sorry but had to let you know you look great
You look amazing! Having alopecia as a woman and losing my hair twice, I totally get what you went through. But don’t let anyone tell you different, you look great! Rock on! 😊
Dudes don't even know that women have thinning hair too. I think it's worse for us, we cannot just walk around bald because that's how our body is, it will be judged as a social statement and many people will be against it
@anicyb I said this before to a man, he was adamant it was the same. I'm like I'm sure it feels devastating to everyone going through it. But most people don't look twice at a bald or balding man. They DO at a woman. My mother has alopecia, I know how much it changes things for you
As a man I guarantee that if my girlfriend lost her hair it would make absolutely no difference I’m sure most women are the same. I would feel so sad for her pain tho
I feel your pain man. I am also a shredder and losing my hair to dermatitis. I miss my hair so much and it's just getting worse every day. I hope you feel better now man.
You look great! I’m so glad you are loving yourself. Your hair was beautiful for sure but hair is just one small part of our appearance. I’m so impressed with you!
Ever since I started experiencing hair loss 3 years ago, shaving my hair has become such a normality that I actually get excited when it starts to grow back as I know i can get back to shaving it again 😂 You be looking fresh my dude, nothing wrong with being Bold for Bald 🙏🏻
You missed the opportunity for an elite level skullet but this look is sooooooooo much better than where the hair was before the shave, looks great my guy! 🤘🏻
thank you !! you look awesome my man ......its scary but what you say about it using up your energy I totally get it !!! ....im gonna do it too ..its time !! much love from Scotland !!!
I hate seeing fellow metalheads losing the long hair. It is such a precious thing in this culture. And he wore that hair extremely well!!! My best friend started balding in his teens and is also fronting a metal band. He now has a his luscious mane again, after a hair transplant. I thought it would look like crap but it actually looks better than before. It really did wonders for his confidence, ad I am tempted to go the same route if ever I start balding too. I wish I had the confidence to be bald but I am too attached to my hair at this point. Wouldn't know what to do without it, but it's easier since I am not a frontmant - Just a simple guitar player lol. Skylar is awesome and he can definitely carry the bald look. Keep rocking bro :D
@@NikkiSmash it’s not that bad in the grand scheme of things. I’ve razor shaved my head on and off most of my life so it’s not a huge blow, more of a PITA. Hair isn’t who you are!
You look so good! I could see the relief on your face after you let it all go! And then later in the video, I could see the confidence you gained from acceptance! Good for you! You look handsome with or without hair! ✌️
i can TOTALLY relate. im going thru this right now. I've had long hair or have been in the process of growing my hair out my entire life. i shaved my head twice before and always felt like I had an identity crisis when I did it. I'm 45 and my hair is definitely thinning badly. I totally get the compliment and self-esteem factors you spoke of. I really don't want to shave it off again because I know that's the last time it'll ever be long. 🙁
I know I'm a complete stranger but this really sounds just like my fiance hes had long hair all his life and it's been thinning for awhile (still beautiful to me tho)however, hes been afraid itll never grow long again and that's how hes felt comfortable his entire life. what you just said he literally said a few days ago and just surprised me reading your comment.
If yr not ready to shave down then just shave the sides and keep the top long or shaved sides and short top both look good 👍 I'm a stylist, I do men's hair at Sport Clips lemme tell you no men's hair looks bad! All styles look cool, and are attractive it's totally up to u as a dude to rock that style and metal heads have short/shaved hair too Kerry King 😎🤟
Mine started falling out in my early 20’s. Count your blessings you had it as long as you did. But we all know how it feels. Once it’s gone you don’t miss it as much as you think you would.
just came here from Asmongold's video to say that you look great. Just keep the rocker attitude and passion for your craft and you'll continue to kill it on stage too The only thing that could make you look ugly is if you lose that confidence and it shows on your face, continue to growl, continue to head-bang and most importantly continue to enjoy yourself and smile. you'll be just fine. keep on rockin' brotha, and same to everyone in the comments too. Much love to all
I'm assuming, once you get used to that level of attention, it's probably very difficult to let go of that magnificent hair. The dude was a young Hetfield. But the same gargantuan, steel cojones that made him pursue a career in metal, also made him take this step. Overall ballsy dude and I applaud that. But I'm not going to lie, this time, it hit different. I feel your pain.
Imagine having the power to make teens wet by your looks, and then one day you lose this superpower forever, dramatic and sad, the dude managed it very well.
The angst in that dude's face while he was holding those clippers actually made me kind of emotional. At the end he looked so good with the shaved head.
That's good stuff, mate. I feel you Skyler. Had always long and crazy hair when I was a teenager. I had such a hard time accepting it that I bought a hairpiece and had fake hair on my head for years. One day I decided that I couldn't take the fear and feeling like I'm fake anymore so I shaved my head, too. I'm still having a hard time to think I'm attractive this way but gosh it was such a relief to not hide anymore.
The man looks stunning! The courage to face the reality even though it’s tough makes this man beautiful! So many people have hair but a few are capable of handling life like he does with a bright smile.
Right at the start of this video, I already kinda knew you'd be fine. You could see your scalp through the remaining hair and I immediately thought, "Dang, he has such a nice head shape, he's gonna rock that baldhead so hard." And I wasn't wrong. You look soooo much better than before, honestly. And as we know from Disturbed, no hair doesn't mean you can't rock hard 🤘🏼
When you have the occasional moment of doubt - and you will - remember to compare how you look now not to when your hair was at its best, but how you looked just before you shaved it off. The shaved head looks fantastic.
Dude, you look absolute FIRE with bald, you've been blessed with great skull shape. Also it's great to hear how you learn to accept all this, even though it can be a decimating experience to one's self-image. I have four brothers who all started to go bald in recent years. I have the fear that soon I'm next in line and wish that I will learn to accept it the way you just did.
You definitely had wonderful hair man. It must have been harsh to do this, and I kind of understand the identity aspect of having long hair (having it too). You had courage and made proof of bravery towards self acceptance. And yeah : you also look great without it, and you will definitely still slay on stage :D
Wait, shaving it is 'brave' and a step towards 'self acceptance'? So you shave your horseshoe so as to make it as unnoticeable as possible, and thereby giving your scalp the illusion of uniformity, and that's 'self acceptance'? If anything you're running away from the problem by making it less visible with the least possible effort (5 minutes of razor usage).
@@vhyles It depends on how you look at the problem, it is all a matter of subjectivity in the end. To me, it's mostly accepting you will never have hair again and that you're ready to accept yourself without it. Each his own perspective
This was the video, man. My hair was never as sick as his but I was still hesitant to let it go. After seeing him step up I just went for it today. Going to take a bit of time to recognize myself in the mirror but new chapters are always scary.
Internet really is magic... I really do feel lucky to live in a time where you can find a community and share experiences with people who might help u go through stuff like this. I've had my long hair for a couple of months, and for a while, I was a little too obssesed with my looks since I'm 23 and never got the chance to grow it out cause of my school and shit, recently I got the feeling It was thinning (still not sure, cause its not like THAT-CLEAR) and since then I just shave it off. I've been in denial for a while, since I like anime and stuff I always wanted to look like those "cool" characters with their long hair but well, this really is something you CANNOT control (at least to a certain extent) and I've tried to teach myself that one will always be confronted between what we are and what we'd like to be. And that's just nature, there's a reason why GIRLS don't NORMALLY go bald. Biologically, that's a beauty feature, men ARE NOT meant to keep that as means to reproduction. Men keep their strenght, girls keep their looks and those are the rules. That's the kind of things I tell myself. Coping hard but I'd rather accept it than stick to some type of synthetic standard about what a men "should look like".
That's my story as well. Thanks for sharing that. Baldness hit hard on my 23-24 age, and I had to shave it off. I had "technically" no escape on my genes with a father and both grandfathers that were bald. Funny enough, my other 2 brothers are not bald. Shaved back in 2014, decided to grow a beard. Beard granted me the self-esteem that was once rooted on my long hair.
@@vhyles Yeah, I could have taken finasteride, but that side effect of "not being able to have kids next 5 years after stop taking the medicine" wasn't very pleasant so, no, better keep my body without that shit. As for transplant, things were way worse for that area back in 2013, and techniques were pretty much "doll hair" style. The past is the past, and I'm happy with a long beard @Kold Hahahahahaah. Good one.
As a guy with lots of hair at the age of almost 43, I feel good watching this video after a rough day. I know my time is up soon, since my father started losing his hair at the age of 47. Wish me luck!
just take Finasteride. There is absolutely zero reason anyone has to be bald these days. Don't listen to the slapheads that wan't everyone to look as rediculous as they do
These videos are friggin' amazing. I recently shaved my head because I've been slowly but surely receding over the past 5 years. This channel gave me the confidence and the push to do it (I wish I had done a before and after video and sent it to you Harry!). And you know what? I've had nothing but positive and sometimes just neutral feedback. I thought that, working in a factory with 300+ piss-taking lads that I'd get slaughtered when I went in to work, but the worst someone said to me was "Woah that's a bit severe innit? You look like you've got an upside down head". The best I got was "You look phenomenal" and "You look like Stone Cold Steve Austin", despite being only 5'8" haha! This handsome mofo in this video absolutely nailed it when he said that he can now focus a lot more on growing from within. I've been experiencing the same thing myself..... You can really start being the real you after destroying this insecurity. Sorry to waffle on fellas, but I got recommended a channel on TH-cam called "Haircafe" I started watching a video out of curiousity, and it seems like it's got the absolute opposite intent of this channel 😢 Just scrolling through the comments.... They seem pretty toxic. Whereas this channel is all about acceptance and self love, Haircafe (in the comments, at least) seems to focus waaaay too much about how, allegedly, no woman will ever be attracted to you if you go bald, and how you should be pursuing every possible avenue to get your hair back. From what I've seen so far, which isn't much, I hate it. But further research required, just in case it's the comments which are where the negativity comes from. Peace out, Brotherhood of the Bald!
I so feel your pain... I do some music too and I'm 44 and my balding went pretty bad, at 35, I shaved it all instead of looking ridiculous!! You have a nice looking head buddy!! Keep going!!🤘🤘
Thank you so much for sharing this. I appreciate how difficult it must have been. One thing I can promise you is that many women absolutely find bald men attractive. What's really alluring is confidence and self acceptance. When you're comfortable with yourself then other people will be comfortable with you. You could think of this as a blessing. Going through hair loss and all of the introspection and self evaluation at such a young age has given you emotional wisdom way ahead of your peers. And women will definitely appreciate that. And professionally, bald is not uncommon in metal either. In fact, it's really cool.🤘😎🤘
The message of not wasting an enormous amount of energy throughout the day on things you can't control is so important for everyone to remind themselves of. Everyone will have their version of going bald even if it's not literally that whether man or woman as they age. We will have many things like this happen as we get older and I wish more people would save themselves the stress and just accept what we can't change. Great message.
I think you're the only person in this comment section that got the point he tried to bring across. Everyones like, hey you're still handsome. That's not the frickin point!
Except you can do things about it. Finasteride, Dusteride, minoxydil etc all work to stop hairloss I'm it's tracks and reverse it sometimes. And you can get topical versions now to reduce side effects. Combine that with cheap hair transplants in Turkey that look amazing these days and you can reverse this
This response has been absolutely incredible..., I really hope this can help you. For those of you asking my band name, it's W.M.D( When Minds Develop).

I can totally get that it's really hard to lose that amazing head of hair you had but you look great with a shaved head. Thanks for sharing this with us.
You look great man! This new look suits you. Judging from your spoken realization, it sounds like you've received a gift from this change. Godspeed!
Honestly you are very good looking without hair.

My father in law kept his rocker hair far longer than he should have. It was thin and scraggly. But since he could put the remaining bits in a ponytail, he thought it was cool.
I was so happy when he cut it short. He looked much younger and like he had more hair.
What a rad dude. Let’s not pretend his hair wasn’t extremely cool before the hair loss started. I can imagine it would be VERY hard to let go of that.

@@mitch9186 Doesn't work for a lot of folks
That's brutal. The long hair is a big part of the metal culture, the headbanging, etc. That guy couldn't hyde the pain in his face. But, men like Phil Anselmo, Kerry King and Rob Halford prove that is possible to be bald and still rock!
There's a lot of bald dudes in metal aswell
Simmm
Phil Anselmo is not bald, just shaved.

I sadly looked pretty awful with a shaved head. Its better then the balding look but I went from a 1 to a 1.5/10 LOL
That was exactly what I though when I shaved off. I'm better now than when I had a thin hair, but not than when I had a head full.
Very well said, brotha 😥

He looks amazing with hair and without. As a woman, I lost more than half my hair the same age as him and now at 29 it still bothers me sometimes. Change is difficult to accept.
Yeah , feel great once I've shaved it , but as it grows back I feel depressed due to what women are supposed to look like etc

I’m going through this and I’m struggling. This dude is inspiring, as a fellow musician! I’m not coping with it well at all.
You got this man. You’re not alone 👍
I’ve got alopecia eating my head alive. 35 so it’s not that bad, but just 6 months ago I had a good head of hair. Get that shit waxed now 😂.
@@Tiss382 Thanks man. I'm currently looking into as many options as possible.
@@thedant21 sorry to hear that bro :(
@@NikkiSmash it’s not that bad in the grand scheme of things. I’ve razor shaved my head on and off most of my life so it’s not a huge blow, more of a PITA. Hair isn’t who you are!
best community I ever came across
You are most welcome here 🙏
You look so good!
If yr not ready to shave down then just shave the sides and keep the top long or shaved sides and short top both look good 👍
I'm a stylist, I do men's hair at Sport Clips lemme tell you no men's hair looks bad!
Like dude before me said count your blessings. You had yours into your early 40s. Imagine loosing it when you need your looks the most.
just came here from Asmongold's video to say that you look great.
Just keep the rocker attitude and passion for your craft and you'll continue to kill it on stage too
The only thing that could make you look ugly is if you lose that confidence and it shows on your face, continue to growl, continue to head-bang and most importantly continue to enjoy yourself and smile. you'll be just fine.
keep on rockin' brotha, and same to everyone in the comments too.
This was a feelsy one for sure. Respect levels through the roof honestly
From Young Het to Phil Anselmo Jr 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Imagine having the power to make teens wet by your looks, and then one day you lose this superpower forever, dramatic and sad, the dude managed it very well.
He used to have sabastion bauch hair
@El Axel now my dude is getting the cougars soaked!
The angst in that dude's face while he was holding those clippers actually made me kind of emotional. At the end he looked so good with the shaved head.
Yeah, you could see the pain.
long hair looks amazing on him, and so does a shaved head. what a handsome fella. now he looks like a sicker metalhead
Thank you!!
100x better and looks badass!
The man looks stunning! The courage to face the reality even though it’s tough makes this man beautiful! So many people have hair but a few are capable of handling life like he does with a bright smile.
That looks so much better. The smile on his face when he realised it looked ok was priceless.
Thank you for posting this, it takes a lot of strength.
I think he rocks it honestly. Losing hair is a fact of life for like 70% of dudes so its good to see someone take it well.
When you have the occasional moment of doubt - and you will - remember to compare how you look now not to when your hair was at its best, but how you looked just before you shaved it off. The shaved head looks fantastic.
Very important point. The correct reality comparison must be made 👍
Thanks Rob.

37 and starting to thin on the top. Shaved my head and I feel way better.
❤ Hell ya! you got this and your confidence will rise! congrats my man.
Honestly bro life is a blessing when you accept it and start killing it in life 👌. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@@Baldcafe Thank U for boosting a lot of mens confidence :)
You could've always chosen to go the hard way and fight it.
Hair transplants, anti-androgen treatment etc. That's what I did at least 👍🏻
Your brothers are nor bald, Something is wrong XD
@@vhyles Yeah, I could have taken finasteride, but that side effect of "not being able to have kids next 5 years after stop taking the medicine" wasn't very pleasant so, no, better keep my body without that shit.
As for transplant, things were way worse for that area back in 2013, and techniques were pretty much "doll hair" style.
The past is the past, and I'm happy with a long beard
@Kold Hahahahahaah. Good one.
Were you losing hair from the back and sides of your hair or only from the top heavy and fast?
@@prometheus6853 onlu the top, and really fast after 23.
Sides still have a lot of hair, but top of the head hair is almost non existent
As a guy with lots of hair at the age of almost 43, I feel good watching this video after a rough day. I know my time is up soon, since my father started losing his hair at the age of 47. Wish me luck!
You got this.
just take Finasteride. There is absolutely zero reason anyone has to be bald these days. Don't listen to the slapheads that wan't everyone to look as rediculous as they do
Wow, you're a real man dude! How Brave. Btw you look even cooler now
These videos are friggin' amazing.
I worked with a dude who was balding, and when he shaved it off, he looked fantastic .
I so feel your pain... I do some music too and I'm 44 and my balding went pretty bad, at 35, I shaved it all instead of looking ridiculous!! You have a nice looking head buddy!! Keep going!!🤘🤘
It looks great!
In fact, it's really cool.🤘😎🤘
my respects to this man his hair is his hallmark without a doubt
It breaks my heart
You look good and you have a lot of courage
