    There should be an extra 'flappy bit' on that choke plate but people often remove them. I've got a 2000 BRP and I've been doing pretty much the same things you have. These bikes seem to keep going up in price!

      Thanks for the info, my other xr swallowed that small flap and smashed the plug.luckily that’s all happened and valves saved. This one was al ready removed thinking of leaving it that way though some say could have flash back and burn air box . My flame trap missing from air filter need to get one . You use the flam trap ? Any info much appreciated

      @@OldDirtBikes i have just removed my backfire flap like alot of people. The aftermarket flaps just have holes in them as well. You will be ok

      @@OldDirtBikes Mine is missing too, I think because it has a k&n filter.

      @@moonmanzn good to know,heard of ones burning always a worry. But I suppose flaps only in use when choke is on rest of time it’s fully open . What filter you running? Should I buy the flame trap that’s sits in the filter ,mine came with just a alloy frame holding it in shape .

      @@OldDirtBikes im just using a hiflo filter and I also only have that steel frame.
