Well I am back. I sure miss Ernie. Those funny skits. Dutch Masters cigars. I was just a kid then. I think Ermie was on TV before we even owned one. My folks said "only rich people owned TVs". I recall radio and TV shops on main street. Well really Jefferson street in Dallas. Looking through the shop window at ... TV. Later I used to repair TV's and radios. I personally would only watch B/W. Usually junkers I had repaired. Then after a year or 2 of Star Trek in color. I made my first credit purchase. A color TV. It cost more than my old cars !
Commenting from Kolkata, West Bengal, India. I first heard this when I was 17, in a collection of classical symphonies recorded by "Royal Velvet". Today tape recorders are no more extant, found this composition in You Tube, am indebted.
Hoffstetter wrote "everything that flows from Haydn's pen seems to me so beautiful and remains so imprinted on my memory that I cannot prevent myself now and again from imitating something as well as I can."
@@adrienjf3854 Maybe, but the attribution to Hofstetter is not secure; it is based on flimsy, and circumstantial evidence that would not stand up in court, particularly in relation to Opus 3 No 5 as what little ‘evidence’ there is, refers only to Opus 3 Nos 1 and 2.
The composer of this lovely Serenade is Roman Hoffstetter and not Haydn. We need to revive the music of this talented composer seriously. Would appreciate very much to hear more of Hoffstetter. Joseph Titus
You’re right it’s not by Haydn, but the attribution to Hofstetter is not certain either; it is based on very flimsy, and circumstantial evidence which if tried in court, would not stand up, and would result in a ‘Not Guilty’ verdict.
In a world that has gone mad, this jewel shines even more.
akhirnya ketemu juga lagu yang ane cari dari waktu kecil dulu
Heard this on radio "classical south florida" and then found it on you tube!! Great!!!
First heard this in an Ernie Kovacs commercial on TV 50+ years ago. It has never left me. Don't care who composed it. It's beguiling.

2355のBGMだ!なんか物悲しいな…
Diese Serenade wird immer noch Hayden zugeschrieben, stammt aber von Roman Hofstetter!
Ist sie nicht wunderbar?

Op.3 No. 5 relates to the Haydn edition, but we now know it is by Hofstetter not Haydn.
It’s not by Haydn - you’re quite right; the evidence that Opus 3 is by Hofstetter is flimsy and circumstantial at best.
Whenever I hear this, I have a strange craving for cheap cigars.
I listen to this song while I am thoroughly cleaning my guns....
