I'm happy I have been caring for my bags much as you care for yours. Can I say that if you do not place your bag back in a dust bag, be careful leaving them on wood for a long period of time. The wood acid can leach into the leather, causing discoloration. If you are going to leave them sitting on wood for any length of time, place them on a couple sheets of the acid free tissue as a precaution.

I always obsess how to store my bags. I still keep them in the boxes even though Hermes SA said upright in dust bags.

What do you think of keeping a Birkin in a plexiglass case with some moisture absorbing desiccant packets? I’ve heard keeping it in the box (even if in the dust bag) can still keep moisture trapped and encourage mold, but I like the idea of keeping it in a display case for protection while being able to view it.

My 1979 Kelly 28 Box leather has a old wardrobe smell. It’s hardly been used but the smell is there. Any ideas how to remove it?

Do you have a remedy for the skunk smell hermes bag? I have a togo birkin 30 I purchased in 2013 from Hermes store.. It basically ruined my life… Whenever I take it out on a sunny day, it smells like a skunk… people gave me dirty look all the time. I googled about it, it seems a thing at the time but there was never a solution from anybody nor from Hermes. I currently store it in basement wine cellar 😖
There was a series of Hermes bags (mainly Birkins) produced in the early 2010s that became notorious for this smell you described, which is due to a type of glue they experimented with for a little while. I actually accompanied my friend to the Madison store when she took in her Togo Birkin 35 to be looked at by a craftsman a few years ago. She (we) was told that Hermes is aware of the issue but it's not something they have a solution for, so the after-sales team offered to send the bag to Paris for further inspection and assumed that she'd either be offered a new bag in the same color and leather or she'd be issued store credit for the original purchase price. Please pass this information along to your local boutique as precedent 🤍

Do you recommend using a twilly on the handles for protection? Also, I have multiple 7rp inserts for my hermes bags but wondering if there is a less expensive similar option out there that you would recommend?
If you like the way they look, go for it. Otherwise, they're not a necessity 🌼 These won't do as much as 7RP for your bag, but they're good at protecting the lining - bit.ly/3rRd29R

Hey GPS! Great video, i couldn’t help but notice at 8:04 that you mentioned a white fat grease appearing on your leather! I’ve suffered this often and have a tried and true solution you may have heard of! A hair dryer will wick away that grease like magic! But it works! 🫡🫡🤭
