Here are the general steps for growing sweet pea flowers:
1.🌱Choose a suitable location: Sweet peas prefer a sunny spot with well-drained soil. They also benefit from support such as a trellis or fence for climbing.
2.🌱Sow the seeds: Sweet pea seeds can be sown directly into the ground after the last frost date in your area. You can also start them indoors a few weeks earlier and transplant them outside once the weather warms up.
3.🌱Prepare the soil: Make sure the soil is fertile and well-draining. Mix in some compost or organic matter before planting to provide nutrients for the plants.
4.🌱Plant the seeds: Sow the seeds about 1 inch deep and 2-3 inches apart. Water the soil well after planting.
5.🌱Provide support: As sweet peas are climbing plants, they will need support to grow upwards. Install a trellis, fence, or other support structure for the plants to climb on.
6.🌱Water regularly: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water at the base of the plants to avoid wetting the foliage, which can lead to diseases.
7.🌱Mulch: Mulching around the base of the plants can help retain moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature.
8.🌱Fertilize: Feed your sweet pea plants with a balanced fertilizer every few weeks to promote healthy growth and flowering.
9.🌱Prune: Regularly remove any spent flowers to encourage the plant to produce more blooms. You can also pinch off the tips of the plants to promote bushier growth.
10.🌱Monitor for pests and diseases: Keep an eye out for common pests like aphids and caterpillars, as well as diseases such as powdery mildew. Treat any issues promptly to prevent damage to the plants.
By following these steps, you can enjoy a beautiful display of sweet pea flowers in your garden.

Here are the steps for growing roses from a bare root form:
1. Choose the Right Location🌱Select a location that receives at least 6 hours of full sun each day and has well-draining soil.
2. Prepare the Soil🌱Before planting, make sure the soil is well-prepared by loosening it and adding some organic matter like compost.
3. Soak the Roots🌱Before planting, soak the bare roots in water for a few hours to rehydrate them.
4. Dig a Hole🌱Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the roots without bending them. The hole should be deep enough so that the bud union (the swollen part where the canes meet the roots) is at ground level.
5. Planting🌱Place the rose plant in the hole, spread out the roots, and backfill with soil. Tamp down gently to remove air pockets.
6. Water🌱After planting, water the rose thoroughly to help settle the soil around the roots.
7. Mulch🌱Add a layer of mulch around the base of the rose plant to retain moisture and suppress weed growth.
8. Prune🌱Trim any damaged or overly long roots, as well as any canes that are broken or damaged. This will help the plant focus its energy on growth.
9. Support🌱If your rose variety requires support, install stakes or a trellis to help the plant grow upright.
10. Watering and Care🌱Regular watering, feeding with a balanced fertilizer, and monitoring for pests and diseases are essential for the healthy growth of your rose plant.
11. Patience🌱Growing roses from bare roots can take some time to establish, so be patient and keep providing the necessary care.
Following these steps will help you successfully grow roses from a bare root form. Good luck with your rose gardening!
Gosh Debbie, you've a lot going on. I don't know how you will find room for all the plants. Sweet pea is a must for me every year, I have 3 varieties this year. I have never pre sprouted them, an interesting idea. Thanks for sharing. 🐞🌻🌱
Thank you. Yes, new gardener mistake. Think I’ll sow much less from here on. 😅🌱
Thank you for the reminder to pot up my seedlings, lol! Running to pull everything and just get started, lol. Happy Gardening!
So much to do!☺️🌱🌷
