Catching Up In The Garden
Hello! Welcome back! ☺️🌱In this video, I will continue to catch up on autumn garden chores. I’m finally starting to feel like I have made some progress. The dahlias are starting to fade so I have decided to pull them. I will also start pruning all perennials. Have you started prepping for winter?? Let me know in the comments. Thanks so much for joining me! ☺️🌱
Growing Dahlias
Dahlias are beautiful flowers that come in a wide variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. Here are some basic tips for growing dahlias:
1. Planting: Dahlias should be planted in well-drained soil in a sunny location. They prefer rich soil with good organic matter.
2. Spacing: Make sure to space the dahlia tubers or plants according to the specific variety's requirements. Typically, dahlias should be spaced around 12-18 inches apart.
3. Watering: Dahlias need regular watering, especially during hot and dry periods. Water deeply, ensuring the soil is consistently moist but not waterlogged.
4. Fertilizing: Fertilise your dahlias regularly with a balanced fertilizer to promote healthy growth and abundant blooms. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer packaging for best results.
5. Support: Many dahlia varieties require staking or support as they grow. Use stakes or cages to support the plants and prevent them from falling over.
6. Deadheading: To encourage continuous blooming, deadhead spent flowers by removing them once they fade. This will also help redirect the plant's energy into producing more blooms.
7. Overwintering: In areas where winters are cold, dahlia tubers need to be lifted and stored indoors during the winter to protect them from frost. Store them in a cool, dark place and check on them periodically for any signs of rot.
8. Pests and Diseases: Keep an eye out for common pests like aphids and spider mites, as well as diseases like powdery mildew. Treat any issues promptly to prevent them from spreading.
By following these tips, you can enjoy a stunning display of dahlias in your garden.

6. Cut back perennial plants and remove any dead or diseased growth.
7. Plant trees and shrubs.
8. Protect sensitive plants from frost by covering them with frost cloth or bringing them indoors.
9. Clean and store garden tools and equipment.
10. Plan and design changes for your garden for the next

@@tracysrhythmiclife Hello Tracy! Thank you so much for reaching out and joining me! You’re going to just love gardening! It brings so much joy and calm. I have so much to share with you all. As a mom of two young girls 8/10 and wife sometimes gardening and editing is placed on hold. Hang in there with me as I have so much planned and lots to share with you all. I’m new to TH-cam as well and it’s been a learning process. Hopefully I’ll have all of my videos edited and uploaded shortly. I’m going to make an effort to create a new gardener series to help those just starting . I’m so exciting! Thanks again for supporting my channel. Best🌱

That's so funny, I don't do voice overs cuz I'm like who is this gentle sweet timid soul speaking? That's not me! Enjoyed the seed sowing and chit chat, thanks for sharing!
Haha 😁 It’s a very interesting thing recording yourself. There are so many things that I am learning about myself. I am very silly when I’m uncomfortable. It takes me a few restarts before I settle down to chat in a, what I think is a normal voice, until I play it back. 😅 I talk to myself a lot in the garden. I used to delete all of the silly stuff but have decided that it’s best to just try to be authentic 🤷🏾♀️ and hope people can connect with the real me. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. It takes a lot to do this and my number one hope is to connect with people and inspire them to start gardening. Growing from seed is so rewarding. ☺️🌱
I love your channel! Learning a lot from you.
@@lorettaclerizier7472 Oh my gosh! Thank you 🙏🏾 I will try to format my content in a learning style so I can help others not make my mistakes. I’m still learning! ☺️🌱🌷
Love your garden, newbie to gardening too since CVD and I draw inspiration from you. Tart cherry juice has natural melatonin so you can try that or calming teas before bed. Good luck
@@OmendsFavor Thank you! I will give it a try as it’s natural. My dr prescribed melatonin 2mg but I still wake up super early. It’s great for getting me to sleep 💤 Haha 😅. My garden is only three years old! I have so many ideas! Next year, I think I’ll focus on making it a bit more manageable. I’m hoping to reorganise my borders and put a few potted roses in the borders. Stay tuned! I’m four videos behind but I should have them up by next week.🙏🏾🤞🏾🌱. Thanks again for engaging! 🤗
