I just returned the new teleprompter I had bought. After watching your video. I have no doubts, this is the one! Unfortunately, it is out of stock here in Australia. I ll have to wait a few weeks :)
I purchased a 16" Teleprompter all metal for 140.00 with the ability to accept monitors of up to 16" by 10.2" . I also bought a 15.6" monitor with 1000 nits capabilities and the ability to flip the image on Vertical, Horizontal, and Vertical + horizontal axis all built into the monitor. No need to go through an HDMI Flip Box or Software. I wanted to use the Teleprompter as a normal working monitor when not Live Streaming etc... Also normal monitors produce 400 to 700 nits and appear a bit dull after hitting the two-way mirror... with 1000 nits the image appears nice bright and sharp ... cheers amigos !!!
Der Prompter ist großartig, und ich nutze ihn selbst! Ich habe viele tolle Feedbacks bekommen, weil ich den Menschen direkt in die Augen schauen kann. Das macht enorm viel aus und kann ich jedem empfehlen.
Great review of the practical bits. Really interested in your setup as you said "my camera is a little over an arms length" - what lens are you using? Also wondering is it possible to run the teleprompter app with the prompter simultaneously replicating a PC screen with, for example, a web page as background? Or is it case of either the prompter script or the PC screen?
Hi Ms. Meredith. Great review and I’m glad you made a video on this product as I’ve been seeing it around a lot. I’m not quite ready for a teleprompter yet, but if/when I am the Prompter by Elgato could be the one I choose. 👍🏻👍🏻
I almost went back to your Neewer teleprompter video and said that Elgato needs to send you one of these!! I am so glad that they did! I really wanted to hear your thoughts about the device, especially since you are using the Neewer and happy with it. I have a field monitor and cheap teleprompter so for the moment I am not going to get an Elgato Prompter but if I did, I think I would be spending bit more and build a nice platform (camera cage parts) so that Prompter doesn't rest on the lens and is a bit sturdier than that plastic camera platform. Again thanks so much for the good information!!
Super high quality review! Many thanks! I'm actually torn right now between getting a glide gear tmp100 to use with 10.2" iPad or alternatively the Elgato prompter for talking head language education type content. Which setup would you choose for that sort of thing?
Great points! Also, thanks for showing the setup process especially showing how it slides easily on the lens! Thats was hilarious to watch but extremely helpful
It seems to me that one drawback is that you need a computer to use this teleprompter. Am I correct? If so, if you take it on location for filming someone else, you must bring a laptop. With the teleprompter I currently have ...it is all I need. However, I want a bigger prompter than my current one. Thus, checking out this video. Thank you. Well done.
OMG... I'm paused at 2:29 thinking to myself how to convert this Elgato teleprompter into a walking photobooth with micro computer mounted on one of those lil cold shoe, a v-mount battery to power it all and my discontinued Hiti p110s for branded hard copies (utilizing breeze software of course) Its just crazy enough that it might actually work! (more research is needed)
4:51 shows two methods to avoid the access weight on the lens using another tripod or some sort of makeshift way of putting the weight on your existing tripod. Perhaps a suggestion you could make for Elgato if they haven't gotten one made yet.
If using the Neewer teleprompter which is heavier, I would recommend using a $100 Neewer tripod (instead of a thin or small ball head on a desk vertical bar which was a pain to lock down). I switched to a tripod to hold teleprompter for this reason and then no problem with the weight, and the arm on the tripod head makes it easy to tilt and lock or rotate to access camera. By the way, which prompter do you use the most now, is it Elgato or the Neewer one? Or do you use both at different times? The software for Elgato seems very well designed and easy to use in setup of prompting, and one of its strengths.
Hi Meredith great videos, you are always informative and easy to understand. Can you tell me if the font size can be adjusted on the Elgato Prompter? My eyesight isn't what it used to be, and I'm worried that I may not be able to read the text in the prompter screen.
Hey Meredith! Thanks for the video. We are in the market for a teleprompter, but we don't have an SLR camera. I would ordinarily use my mobile for filming, but can also use Zoom, Camtasia or Descript. I just wasn't sure... would it work without an SLR?
Great review! I can’t wait for mine to reach. I wonder if master mount was able to hold the weight without moving down. I am planning to use flex arm or/and clamp arm to connect the bottom 1/4inch back to the master mount so that the load will be distributed. Unfortunately the 2 cons are not beings able to comfortably use it above high/big screens, It works the best on the side of the main middle Monitor.
It looks like they have a base that attaches to the bottom of the teleprompter that you can bundle in..note this is currently on pre-order for December delivery.
I would love this teleprompter at about $200 or if it was able to fold. I think for now I’ll stick with the neewer x12 for $98 and perhaps wait for a 2nd gen of the Elgato.
I tried something similar in the UK for my Sony ZV E10 and had to send it back because also I couldn’t use my FAV teleprompter app which works via sound recognition! It’s a NO for me!
So I know that everybody’s not tech nerd like I am therefore, I thought it might be helpful to say if you have an existing teleprompter you could probably use a very cheap android tablet to mimic what the Elgato product does. There were apps that allow you to use your android devices as secondary displays.

Hello Sajid, I think it is priced just right. If you try to build your own you will likely spend about the same amount of money or get something inferior. $100 for a teleprompter, $100 for a monitor, then you have to get the software sorted out and a lot of people are using a teleprompter software that cost $59 annually. you can buy a field monitor with HDMI pass thru and flip/mirror capabilities and I think that is better than a fixed monitor.
