- I jammed together few tracks from Portal 2 Soundtrack and one track from Vandoorea's remixes. Then I thought: "Why not upload this on TH-cam?". And here it is.

Yes, I know that "Forwarding the Cause of Science" plays before the propulsion gel is introduced and I also know that the conversion gel doesn't have its own theme. Track assignment I made in this video is only my own fantasy.

Bouncing off the repulsion gel and hearing the extra beeps in the music gives me the same feeling Wheatley gets after you solve his first test, but it never gets old.
Old aperture is one of my favorite areas in all of video games. the atmosphere, the music, the thought of this fallen era of a company buried deep underground, the whole thing gives off such a cool feeling when exploring. the music certainly tops it off. just this simple 6 note pattern, seeing how it evolves as you progress through these fallen test chambers, and how it keeps getting more intense as you get to the Cave Johnson lemon speech, it all escalates into the final battle, all of it showing how much you’ve grown by the end of this area.

Portal 2 was a thing that happened and sometimes even I can't believe it, how can a game be so unbelievably satisfying
imagine taking the elevator down to the bottom of test shaft 09 back in the 50's. walking through a fully furnished and freshly decorated entrance, coming out and seeing multiple brand new enrichment spheres still being built as they finish pumping the water out. seeing Cave and Caroline in person greeting everyone

You can (at least in part) experience this in Portal Stories: Mel. It's a free mod for Portal 2, but calling it a mod is a severe understatement. It's an entirely new game, with story, game mechanics, characters and everything. For me, it is Portal 3. Defiantly go play it if you haven't :D

fun fact: If you listen to this track with only one ear, the repulsion gel part randomly cuts. They literally went as far to make it so the repulsion gel's beat bounces from ear to ear.

The fact that the quicker notes only really appear in the game when you use the gel is genius

i imagine adhesion to be some gel from the 60s that was shortly removed because people who tested got motion sickness
@@ironicivan4928 I would imagine they maybe made it after the propulsion gel, but before adhesion gel. So maybe mid to late 70's to early to mid 80s, but that's just a personal headcannon.

i love the soundtrack for this game. they were able to mix together random electrical noises and turn it into the most breathtaking song for a puzzle game.
4:28: Wow, that transistion. I didn't think that there's going to be yet another step. It sounds so rich with so many layers, that's the kind of endfight (well intermediate endfight) feeling I had when I was on top of the elevator shaft and then went out of the door and saw the orange-lit piping far, far above me. I knew that that was my goal, but how am I going to get there?
I keep forgeting how amazing sound design for gels is. Music acceleration on propulsion gel and funny twirl when you bounce on repulsion gel. Just great.
portal 2 was and still is a favourite of mine, and the fact that people are STILL making stuff with it puts a smile on my face

Old Aperture was always my favourite at its rustic interiors, amazing music, and amazing puzzles. I think you can see a small pattern of history inside the music itself as the small part of the conversion gel which appeared during the propulsion gel could be a throwback to the Astronaut Scandal which Aperture was accused in, afterwards I think it's still a nod to space and then astronauts since the conversion gel is made of moon rock dust.
I love portal 2 and its lore and athmosphere, and this simple remix brought me to tears. I love this game so much and I can't stop thinking about it. Perfection

Funnily enough, you can hear the propulsion gel's acceleration mix without using the gel by b-hop strafing in the appropriate chamber.
If you b-hop strafe, you'll go faster than normal walking speed so you'll hear it play even if you're not walking on the gel. This only works if you're in a test chamber with interactive propulsion gel. (Propulsion gel that plays the mix when you walk on it.) So you'll also hear it by b-hop strafing in one of Wheatley's final test chambers where you launch yourself with propulsion gel into an excursion funnel.

This is frankly amazing, the gel theme are of my favorites in the game and I'm so glad to see a mixdown of their tunes. The gradual increasing complexity of the composition, introducing each gel is also a really great factor, great job man!

portal 2 was one of the first video games i ever played. i remember getting my parents to rent it for me from a family video and getting frustrated a lot because my child brain was bad at puzzles lmao. i hadn't played the first game so i didn't really understand what was happening a lot of the time, plus i was. y'know. a child. but it really captivated me, the old aperture sections especially. really love how you arranged these tracks, it makes me very nostalgic for the nights spent on my ps3 playing the game and that feeling of pride when the solution to a puzzle finally clicked.

The white gel doesn't have its own music. The music used for the orange gel is a variant of the blue gel music used in a later chambre and the one used for the white gel is the orange gel's music.
Yes, I am very aware of that, as I mentioned many times in the comments. I assigned melodies that way, because I feel "Reunion" fits better to the conversion gel rather than propulsion gel. It's just my fantasy, you could say.

I like that idea, although keep in mind that I only smash together tracks and slightly modify them so they sound reasonably good together. No miracles here

I'm sorry to say this because this is really cool, but the first 2 songs both play during repultion gel testing, the 3rd song plays during propultion gel testing, and nothing plays during conversion gel testing. But I can see why you did it like this.

This detail deserves more attention.
Have anyone of y'all noticed that the pump stations are named "Alpha", "Beta" and "Gamma". They're not named like that by coincidence. Why? It's because the 3 pump station names are named after the 3 types of ionising radiation. (Examples: |Pump Station Alpha = Alpha Particles| |Pump Station Beta = Beta Particles| |Pump Station Gamma = Gamma Particles|)
Those are just first three letters of greek alphabet tho. They could be called "A", "B", "C", or "one", "two", "three", it's just that greek letters are cooler. So nothing to do with particles.

@@mines2167 in the final cutscene water is used to (spoilers) extinguish a fire in the stalmate room. The conversion gel washes off as a result.
@@mines2167 It's literally water though. If it were called a "cleansing gel", it would have been actually mentioned and included on signs and stuff. Also, if it were a gel, why didn't it have a pumping station like all the actual gels did?
Repulsion Is jump propulsion is fast conversion is walk on walls or something I forgot
the walk on walls one is adhesion gel, it was gonna be a feature but was scrapped from the final game because it gave playtesters motion sickness. Conversion gel allows portals to be placed on normally un-portallable surfaces.
